12:43 AM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> all the mechanics working in my cnc, now I need to solder all the wires O_o
12:58 AM xxcoder: nice
01:05 AM roycroft: thanks, xxcoder - i'll look at it
01:05 AM xxcoder: welcome
01:05 AM roycroft: my support for lightburn is good until january
01:06 AM roycroft: so i have until then to decide whether to renew or switch
01:06 AM roycroft: lightburn works really well
01:06 AM roycroft: and is pretty feature-rich
01:07 AM roycroft: they added a really nice feature to 2.0
01:07 AM roycroft: you can use different units in design mode than in machine mode now
01:08 AM roycroft: and that came in handy tonight - the templates i'm working on are in american customary units
01:08 AM roycroft: but the laser engraver natively uses metric
01:09 AM * roycroft just finished making all the laser files
01:10 AM xxcoder: inbuilt unit convertor sounds like such a basic feature
01:10 AM roycroft: i was watching a film and entertaining the cats, so it wasn't really focused energy on it
01:10 AM roycroft: lots of software doesn't have it
01:10 AM roycroft: and autocad is still unitless
01:10 AM roycroft: (mostly)
01:11 AM roycroft: but this isn't really a "converter" per se
01:11 AM roycroft: in that i don't have to do anything to "convert"
01:11 AM roycroft: i just set the working units in the design, and the working units for the machine, and it does whatever it might need to do
01:12 AM roycroft: it also has a dark mode now, so it's tolerable to look at
01:12 AM roycroft: but layer 0 is still black, and the layer colors cannot be changed in lightburn
01:13 AM roycroft: so layer 0 is now useless if one is in dark mode
01:13 AM roycroft: black against a dark, dark grey background doesn't work well
01:13 AM roycroft: for me, at least
01:15 AM xxcoder: gonna love hardcoded colors
01:15 AM roycroft: i do not care if i can change layer colors or not - with this kind of software it's not a big deal, but in dark mode, the software should change layer 0 from black to white
01:16 AM xxcoder: sure though sometimes customizable is good to have
01:16 AM roycroft: yes, it would be nice
01:17 AM xxcoder: I hate how freecad constrant icons is bit hard to see on design
01:17 AM roycroft: but adding that feature pushes another feature back
01:22 AM Deejay: moin
02:45 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> moin
03:42 AM Tom_L: morning
03:50 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Mornin
03:53 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> @irc_liberachat_fluffywolf:jauriarts.org: The crucial thing about Blender is doing the legendary donut tutorial series, just go through the motions even if it isn't relevant to what you want to do with it. You'll have a good grasp of it at the end
05:42 AM JT-Mobile: sounds like the ac is going to blow up when it starts up
06:20 AM rdtsc: <xxcoder> dont lightburn have rpi distro <-- I think lightburn announced they were dropping support for linux a few years ago?
06:24 AM rdtsc: re: waveshare touch display and linux: yes the wiki page about it shows a line that has to go in the config.txt for full support, although it seemed to work without it
06:30 AM rdtsc: re: blender - been using since v2.something but intermittently - typical 3D-print workflow is design base model either in FreeCAD, OpenSCAD, or blender+sketcher, then tweak with blender, and check with 3D print toolbox, export as .stl
06:31 AM rdtsc: blender LOVES to make your nice, manifold model suddenly have lots of non-manifold issues... there is some skill in how something is approached that will determine how well it ends up
06:31 AM Tom_L: see it does work occasionally :)
06:31 AM * rdtsc pets c-log, good boy! :)
09:26 AM lcnc-relay: <allaboutjake@> Silly question but is there a limit to long jog moves. Rapid keyboard jogs seem to stop at a certain point and I have to release and press again.
09:28 AM JT-Mobile: heading out
09:40 AM Tom_L: allaboutjacob, no limit
09:40 AM Tom_L: until it reaches the soft limits
09:40 AM Tom_L: if they are set for continuous
09:40 AM Tom_L: i'm not sure that's a thing on kbd... i don't use it
09:41 AM Tom_L: *allaboutjake
09:44 AM Tom_L: when they separated [AXIS] and [JOINT] when not homed, you need to jog joints
09:45 AM Tom_L: there are 4 basic entries required for [AXIS], the rest are in joint
10:29 AM lcnc-relay: <allaboutjake@> Tom_L: Thanks tom. Maybe it’s a keyboard thing. It’s a pretty cheap keyboard. It’s not a machine limits thing cause it happens at seemingly random places
10:30 AM Tom_L: it makes a difference if it has been homed or not how it behaves
10:32 AM Tom_L: [AXIS]
10:32 AM Tom_L: MIN_LIMIT
10:32 AM Tom_L: MAX_LIMIT
10:32 AM Tom_L: MAX_VELOCITY
10:32 AM Tom_L: MAX_ACCELERATION
10:32 AM Tom_L: is required. anything else can go in [JOINT]
10:33 AM Tom_L: they are duplicated in [JOINT] as well
10:34 AM Tom_L: years back everything was in [AXIS]
10:38 AM Tom_L: i may be wrong on this but think it has something to do with telop mode vs traj mode
10:39 AM Tom_L: pretty sure it's in telop mode prior to homing
10:53 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Yes - keyboard jogging for sure stops after like 10 inches or such..
11:39 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddp5xxWB0zA parport config with rio - flow
11:43 AM Tom_L: meisterdippel, gettin pretty fancy
11:53 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
12:06 PM Tom_L: meisterdippel, i notice you have to answer the 'do you really wanna quit' box after pushing the X in lcnc. some free tips just for you:
12:06 PM Tom_dev: https://paste.debian.net/1400489/
12:06 PM Tom_L: put them in a .axisrc (hidden) in your user directory
12:06 PM Tom_L: i have the 'bigfileopen.tcl' if you need it
06:25 PM _unreal_: just tested one of my starlinks
06:25 PM _unreal_: seems to be working
06:25 PM _unreal_: I DONT NEED starlink just got it from work
06:26 PM _unreal_: one modem and 3 of the sat's
06:26 PM _unreal_: 2 of them I need to test I just tested the self aiming one
06:26 PM _unreal_: the other two are fixed position
08:22 PM _unreal_: so its getting amazing. a this point I have looked at 50+ harddrives, pulled data and formated all that I looked at. finding a lot of long lost data, photos, music, content I produced. projects I need to complete
08:23 PM _unreal_: just amazing
08:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have not gotten there yet. I have a ton of 3.5 floppies and external drives/hard drives I need to go through
08:55 PM lfluffywof is now known as fluffywolf
08:56 PM _unreal_: just got a shelf mounted to the wall over my desk. first one I've installed in my bedroom
08:57 PM _unreal_: I shudder to think about going through my dad's floppy's
08:57 PM _unreal_: my brother and I are going to have are work cut out for us regarding media from are late father
08:57 PM _unreal_: GOOD god
09:07 PM xxcoder: fun blondihack today
09:08 PM fluffywolf: video #23 of cylinder drains? haven't watched it yet.
09:09 PM xxcoder: I guess? lol. its todays
09:10 PM fluffywolf: I just made up a number. it's amazing how much work something as seemingly simple as some valves takes.
09:11 PM xxcoder: lol ok
09:14 PM _unreal_: starting to go through cd/dvd's. hehe nothing like trying to read 25+ year old cd's
09:15 PM _unreal_: now that I was able to empty an other shipping box. just put a ton of spindles onto the shelf I just mounted to the wall. now I can start backing everything up to HD's
09:15 PM _unreal_: I'm dbl backing up everything to multi HD's in the end
10:40 PM _unreal_: god trying to backup all this content sucks
10:42 PM _unreal_: does anyone know of any linux drivers that can be compiled for the msac-fd2m
