01:00 AM Deejay: moin
03:40 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Moin
03:40 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Fabulous, go to do some welding and find all the argon has leaked out somewhere
04:43 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
06:46 AM rdtsc: ouch lucid, sounds like a trip to the local welder's supply is in order - are they even open on a Saturday?
06:47 AM rdtsc: Tom, I got a lithium battery for cycles. needs a special charger, but works great
06:47 AM rdtsc: haven't needed charger once installed - it just works... over winter too
06:50 AM rdtsc: sam, is that lever something that might be easier remade in steel?
08:53 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Never welded with argon..
08:53 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Some day.
09:00 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Rdtsc: I have thought about that .. but a rather large vise grip just gets clipped on there and it works
09:02 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> So it hasn't been a priority
09:47 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> rdtsc: I didn't actually check, just assumed they weren't, figured I should probably be good dad instead of running around doing boring dad interests. Unfortunately I only had argon for the tig welder, well thought I did. Need to get mig gas too
09:47 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Probably should find where it's leaking from before hooking it up
09:48 AM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Actually, I might have used water ptfe, could be why
12:05 PM _unreal_: So I'm really wanting a retractable awning now over my garage. Just to extend my work area into the driveway and to keep rain out of the door if I have it open.
12:06 PM _unreal_: hum future upgrade maybe
03:50 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> _unreal_: I have bee n think those same thoughts lately
03:51 PM xxcoder: awning is nice to have
03:51 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Though thinking a flat roof canopy with lights might be even better
03:52 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Summer is definitely coming to an end here
03:52 PM JT-MShop: hmm getting a bit of rain finally
03:52 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
03:53 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Dark amd dreary
03:56 PM JT-Shop: it's raining pretty hard atm
03:57 PM JT-Shop: and it's somewhat sunny
04:01 PM _unreal_: going through stuff as always
04:01 PM _unreal_: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/getting-started-with-the-tessel-2/what-is-the-tessel-2
04:01 PM _unreal_: I have one of these. any thoughts on what to do with it?
04:41 PM JT-Shop: yay got the email from Misfit Toys Car Club so track day is on for sure
04:50 PM Tom_L: that should be fun
04:51 PM JT-Shop: yup, I can't wait
04:51 PM JT-Shop: to try out the Cup 2's
04:51 PM Tom_L: you ran them once didn't you?
04:58 PM JT-Shop: no they canceled the last event
04:59 PM JT-Shop: guess it's been a while since I ran the 308 I had to enter the drive data to get it to boot up
05:02 PM lfluffywof: I'm giggling at the idea of showing up to any kind of track event in my old subaru.
05:03 PM JT-Shop: don't laugh all kinds of vehicles show up
05:03 PM JT-Shop: pickup trucks, station wagons... you name it I've seen them there
05:03 PM JT-Shop: even a tesla
05:03 PM JT-Shop: rented btw
05:04 PM lfluffywof: I'd much rather go to a 4wd event, but there's no legal 4-wheeling here, and hence no events.
05:07 PM Tom_L: it's not just a vette event then...
05:08 PM JT-Shop: oh no, everyone is welcome
05:08 PM JT-Shop: that makes it more interesting
05:09 PM Tom_L: saw a real nice 60's bel air today
05:11 PM JT-Shop: I think they had a car thing in PB today saw lots of old cars heading into town
05:15 PM * JT-Shop bets the 308 coolant tank needs water
05:21 PM Tom_L: i bet the track time put a big dent in the tesla's batteries
05:26 PM JT-Shop: iirc it ran about 4 times
05:35 PM Tom_L: i may go fiddle with the rpi5 & 7i80 a bit this evening
05:36 PM JT-Shop: an hour to get the 308 ready to run the fixture and 5 minutes to mill it lol
05:37 PM JT-Shop: the tesla was insane fast in the straight
05:37 PM JT-Shop: not so much in the curves
05:37 PM JT-Shop: gotta make some fixtures and tools to rebuild the trailing arm and fit new axle bearings

06:05 PM Tom_rpi5: ok the 7i80 config works now
06:06 PM Tom_rpi5: had to get rid of all the ncgui stuff from the config
06:07 PM Tom_rpi5: need a different monitor for this rpi though
06:07 PM Tom_rpi5: the monitor doesn't like the res
06:08 PM Tom_rpi5: need to grab the probe now
06:12 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXKKHRF
06:12 PM lcnc-relay: This is the screen i'm using on my 7c80
06:18 PM Tom_rpi5: does it have a rear mount?
06:18 PM Tom_rpi5: i'm not using a touch screen currently
06:19 PM JT-Shop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4U7E7H?th=1
06:19 PM Tom_rpi5: now i gotta get it to find all the subroutines
06:20 PM Tom_rpi5: i think i have 3 asus already but not touch screens
06:21 PM Tom_rpi5: i could bring one out here
06:21 PM Tom_rpi5: i'm just using a crap one i'd replaced from inside
06:22 PM Tom_rpi5: it works, i just gotta avoid the 'input not supported' crawler
06:22 PM JT-Shop: what is that?
06:22 PM Tom_rpi5: i'm using a hdmi to vga adapter on the rpi
06:22 PM Tom_rpi5: it worked fine on the rpi4
06:22 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> @Tom_rpi5 yes, standard VESA mounting
06:22 PM Tom_rpi5: cool
06:23 PM Tom_rpi5: it's not high on the priority list right now
06:23 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> 1 hdmi, and 1 usb-c to pi
06:23 PM Tom_rpi5: yeah
06:23 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> and 1 usb-c for power
06:23 PM Tom_rpi5: i have several of those cords
06:23 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> 7c80 doesn't have enough spare 5v for the screen, so i have a separate 5v psu
06:28 PM Tom_rpi5: ok the probe routines are still acting up even using the 7i80
06:28 PM Tom_rpi5: not sure what it is
06:29 PM Tom_rpi5: using 1.3.0
06:29 PM Tom_rpi5: i thought maybe it was the parport
06:29 PM Tom_rpi5: but this is over ethernet
06:29 PM JT-Shop: weird my probe routines work fine
06:30 PM JT-Shop: hole center has like 10-12 probe moves
06:30 PM Tom_rpi5: i haven't a clue
06:30 PM Tom_rpi5: yeah
06:30 PM JT-Shop: I have less of a clue...
06:31 PM Tom_rpi5: not always in the same spot either
06:31 PM JT-Shop: left over pizza tonight
06:31 PM Tom_rpi5: just random
06:31 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
06:31 PM Tom_rpi5: steak
06:31 PM Tom_rpi5: i'm stuffed
06:32 PM xxcoder: so danged tired
06:32 PM Tom_rpi5: later
06:32 PM xxcoder: moved bunch of stuff out to get rid of it
06:32 PM JT-Shop: got my fixture done to hold the axle
06:32 PM Tom_rpi5: too press the bearings?
06:32 PM JT-Shop: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-tech-performance/4939826-82-rear-suspension-rebuild-2.html#post1609096948
06:33 PM JT-Shop: to get the nut off, it's fastened with 100 pounds foot
06:33 PM xxcoder: lol
06:33 PM Tom_rpi5: site is slow here
06:33 PM xxcoder: jig is cool tho
06:34 PM JT-Shop: thanks
06:34 PM Tom_rpi5: i'll check it out inside later
07:29 PM Tom_L: i put 1.1.2 on the rpi5 with the 7i80 and the probe routines worked fine
07:29 PM Tom_L: something changed between 1.1.2 and 1.2.0 it doesn't like
07:29 PM Tom_L: but i get no errors, it just stops
07:32 PM Tom_L: actually 1.2.0 may be ok, it's the one after that
07:32 PM Tom_L: i'll try it tomorrow
07:36 PM Tom_L: 1.2.0 works here http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/probe_test/probe_test1_ver1.2.0.mp4
07:55 PM _unreal_: having issues with my daughters computer
07:55 PM _unreal_: wont post past a certain point? dont know what the issue is yet
07:56 PM _unreal_: its just odd. I dont know if its as simple as I need to swap the cd/dvd drive or the wrong IDE cable?
07:56 PM _unreal_: right now doing a MEM test. I at least got it to boot off a knoppix disk to the point of MEMTEST
07:57 PM _unreal_: its a pentium3 1ghz. so I also dont know if its a case of having sat for years untouched or powered. dont see any caps with issues though
08:14 PM lfluffywof: reseat everything, then inspect caps more closely.
08:14 PM lfluffywof: failed PSUs were also very very much a thing in the p3 era.
08:24 PM xxcoder: poisoned caps
08:24 PM xxcoder: a company stole a cap recipe, but turned out it was earlier version
08:24 PM xxcoder: they sure sold a lot of it
