04:11 AM Tom_L: morning
04:50 AM JT-Cave: n100dc been running 7i96s all night without errors so I'm pretty happy about that
07:04 AM rdtsc-w: Some industrial light curtains have a little door on them, with a M2.5 screw by some unusual thread pitch. Bottom line is, if that screw needs replaced, the only source is another unit. The age of custom-everthing has never left, and may yet be.
07:05 AM rdtsc-w: B&R Automation makes some amazingly-engineered products... but forget working on them - most parts are custom one-offs.
07:07 AM rdtsc-w: Good to hear JT; plate parts arrived for articulating arm - gotta get that built
08:36 AM rdtsc-w: Lesson in steel crack repair and welding for alignment... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=129WIFCmDfs
09:13 AM JT-Cave: yay it's the weekend
11:22 AM * JT-Cave _thinks_ he has the major wood working equipment in some sort of usable arrangement
11:35 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> AI might be handy as a filter to get to the point of youtubes vs having to sit through 99% that's not to the point
11:39 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> https://youtu.be/Rdj5-6t6QI8?si=wbPEyTs_ncI9Hw2k&t=1515 just saved you 25 minutes to get the answer
11:45 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> skunkworks "lol - if it was easy - mach would already have it." well they at least have to rewrite the source vs copy pasta
12:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> right - brain admitted that the trajectory planner in mach 4 was directly from mach 3
12:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> there is no tollerance setting like G64p.001
12:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol Brian...
01:16 PM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> I want to get resin 3d printer, any recommendation for something reliable that just work?
01:21 PM lcnc-relay: <Mister Wallace> We use a Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K at work and it’s quite good, upgraded with a Wham Bam XTR build plate. Good for small detailed parts.
01:25 PM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> I see it come with 2 covers yellow and orange
01:28 PM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> the yellow is cheaper for some reason, no idea why, which one did you got?
01:29 PM lcnc-relay: <Mister Wallace> We gave the orange, I think the yellow is the 8KS, they’re probably both fine
01:29 PM lcnc-relay: <Mister Wallace> * have
02:20 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> pink_vampire@: Not a uniformation gk3 ultra
02:22 PM lcnc-relay: <lucid.nonsense@> Look for the ones with the least negative community feedback instead of the most YouTube shills
02:35 PM firephoto__ is now known as firephoto_
03:55 PM rdtsc-w: Work recently got a Creality K2+... worst piece of #$%^ ever - my opinion
04:15 PM Unterhaus__ is now known as Unterhausen
05:58 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> wow - looks like a bambu...
06:03 PM xxcoder: dont buy creality
06:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have an ender.. but when I got the bambu - I have only used ender once or twice..
06:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> since then
06:09 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> The ender worked very good compared to the monoprice mini I had - but the bambu is way way way better
06:27 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2098/33888.pdf
06:27 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> IIIc - we have the IIIb - they look identical other than the controller
06:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is odd - it says 30 tool - but it looks like ours which is 60 tool
06:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> huh - they seem to skip every other tool (like there is a blank link)
06:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> so - yes - that looks like a 30 tool changer
06:36 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I would love to get one of these
06:36 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2098/29050.pdf
06:37 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/hail/hail2025.jpg
06:38 PM Tom_L: overnite
06:40 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> loud?
06:41 PM Tom_L: a bit yes
06:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> this is pretty cool..
06:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2098/28142.pdf
06:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have not seen that before
06:42 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is our exact machine - control and all
06:42 PM Tom_L: cool i thought it looked similar
06:43 PM Tom_L: how many tools in the chain?
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> 60 pockets - maybe 20 tools in the chain - if that..
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> currently
07:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I rarely use the tool changer...
07:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> It would have to be a large job with a lot of tools
07:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it takes time to shuttle up and do the tool change
08:31 PM mrec: any ballscrew expert here? Are the bearing journals usually really hardened?
08:31 PM mrec: Google gives me this "AI Overview" just when searching for it
08:31 PM mrec: A non-hardened bearing journal can lead to rapid wear, seizure, and catastrophic failure due to insufficient hardness to withstand the extreme forces and friction in a journal bearing system, requiring the shaft to be rehardened, reconditioned, or replaced to meet performance standards. The minimum hardness for engine bearing journals is often specified, and if this is not met, it indicates a serious
08:31 PM mrec: failure condition.
08:31 PM mrec: but I don't believe that because there are bearings installed
09:38 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Lol.. high end ball screws probably are hardened... But hobby style ball screws are only case hardened.. so when you machine the bearing journals - you machine through the surface hardness
09:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> And they work fine
09:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Unless your bearings seize
10:11 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Until your bearings seize
11:10 PM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> I have the bambu X1C- junk, and the company want to sell me $300++ parts to fix it, but they never say it for sure will fix it.. so don't buy bambu!
