#linuxcnc Calendar
12:00 AM lfluffywof: bleh. bbl, wolfy bedtime.
12:14 AM xxcoder: I just use imgur to upload random crap
12:14 AM xxcoder: so its not a big loss
01:03 AM Deejay: moin
03:28 AM lcnc-relay: <pink_vampire@> morning
03:28 AM lcnc-relay: (here it is 4am)
04:45 AM Tom_L: morning
06:56 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:09 AM roycroft: what a lovely day - overcast, good air quality, moderate temperature
10:10 AM roycroft: a perfect day for outdoor chores
10:35 AM acer is now known as _unreal_
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> my mechanical friend was here
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> and i just started to mill
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> he said do not ignore limit switches
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> and i just ignore
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> jo i broke Y axis :p
10:51 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> now i have time to wire the 3d touch
11:28 AM _unreal_: just got my all in one computer mounted onto the "multi display" mount
11:28 AM _unreal_: so nice to be able to just lift my computer out of the way now
11:29 AM _unreal_: I will have to be carful of not banging the armature into the wall though "HD"
11:30 AM _unreal_: WOW I just gained so much desk space
11:38 AM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> maybe not thats why i broke it
11:40 AM Tom_L: without limits it has no idea where it is
11:52 AM xxcoder: roycroft: yep I woke up and temp was just under 70f. aqi at 20s
11:53 AM _unreal_: 89f here
12:11 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> forecast 99 here today
12:14 PM xxcoder: hmm -281.5f thats kinda cold roguish
12:16 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> 99F
12:16 PM xxcoder: 😄
12:16 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> 37.2 C
12:19 PM xxcoder: I chose k this time ;)
12:19 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> yes, i'm not stupid
12:19 PM xxcoder: hmm I don't recall saying that you was?
12:20 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> you didn't, but I understand most all the temperatures measurements....F C K R
12:28 PM xxcoder: lol ok.
12:31 PM _unreal_: and mowing the lawn
12:34 PM Tom_L: don't disturb the gators
12:34 PM rdtsc: lol I'm looking at this print, wondering how I designed the bolt holes on 47.8mm centers when aluminum extrusion slots are 40mm... even went and measured it... then realized this is for the HMI box and have to be drilled. *Bonk
12:57 PM xxcoder: well. I removed my tab customize style for first time. waterfox update made tabs look a lot better. tabs is easily discernable now
01:00 PM _unreal_: 90f outside and the lawn is mowed
01:11 PM xxcoder: also disabled firefox color addon. linux theme colors work perfectly fine now, was kinda bad on firefox and older waterfox
01:20 PM _unreal_: is there an EARTH and WIND fox as well?
01:20 PM xxcoder: 🤷
01:33 PM roycroft: i really love my pickup
01:33 PM roycroft: i am back, the trip was totally uneventful, and i did not even notice that i had a load, other than braking took a bit longer
01:33 PM roycroft: and i don't use my brakes much anyway
01:33 PM roycroft: absolutely no fishtailing around curves or anything
01:33 PM xxcoder: thats awesome
01:34 PM xxcoder: I need a truck evenually. bahh
01:34 PM roycroft: and the bed is still too high for me to hop onto it - i have to use a stepladder
01:34 PM roycroft: i could have gotten 1-1/2 yards easily
01:34 PM roycroft: but now i know that for next time
01:34 PM roycroft: this was the heaviest load i've ever hauled in that truck
01:34 PM roycroft: now the hard part
01:35 PM roycroft: making ~1.5 tons of gravel not be on my pickup any more
01:35 PM roycroft: and the smoke is coming in, so i'll have to wear a mask while unloading
01:35 PM xxcoder: too bad its not a lift truck
01:35 PM xxcoder: dumper
01:36 PM roycroft: aqi was 46 when i left earlier this morning
01:36 PM roycroft: the local reporting station is currently down, but just to the south and just to the east of here it's in the 160s now
01:37 PM roycroft: and the wind is southerly, coming almost exactly from the fire
01:39 PM roycroft: i had thought about renting a dump truck and hauling 3-5 yards, which would do the whole driveway
01:40 PM roycroft: that would have been nice, but then i'd have had to deal with a 3-5 yard pile of gravel on the ground, which would still be a lot of work
01:40 PM roycroft: even if i dumped it fairly evenly along the length of the driveway
01:40 PM roycroft: what i got gets me through my current needs, and i'll think about a dump truck later
01:41 PM roycroft: maybe i'll get a new trailer and convert it to a dump trailer
01:41 PM roycroft: or maybe see about converting my pickup to a dump bed
01:45 PM roycroft: $1579 for a hydraulic lift kit for my existing bed
01:46 PM xxcoder: not too bad, thought it would cost more\
01:50 PM roycroft: it says 2 tons, but folks on the ford trucks forum say if you haul gravel you'll have to shovel half of it off before the lift will work
01:51 PM roycroft: it doesn't matter right now anyway- i'm not taking on any new projects for a while
01:51 PM roycroft: but right now i need to go start unloading that gravel
01:51 PM roycroft: i anticipate i won't unload all of it in one go, and i want to get it done today
01:55 PM xxcoder: I wonder if you could use truck repair ramps, drive front up on it, and back is easier to shovel
01:55 PM xxcoder: those 1 foot tall so yu can reach under engine easier ramps
02:03 PM roycroft: this unloading will be easy, since the destination is the driveway
02:04 PM roycroft: i just back the truck up to where i want to start adding gravel, open the tailgate, climb up to the bed, and start tossing gravel off the back
02:04 PM roycroft: when there's enough i'll move the truck forward a little bit and continue
02:05 PM roycroft: and i lined the bed with a tarp before loading the gravel, so when i get towards the end i can just pull the tarp off and the rest of the gravel will come off
02:05 PM roycroft: i should have virtually no cleaning up of the pickup bed to do
02:05 PM * roycroft has done this before
02:11 PM xxcoder: ahh nice. ok
02:34 PM JT-Mobile: I found a wallet on the sidewalk the other day while riding and picked it up figuring it might have a phone number in it and I'd call and say I got your wallet where are you
02:35 PM JT-Mobile: no phone number but a drivers license a student driving permit and an expired license (all the same guy) and 4 dollars
02:37 PM JT-Mobile: I looked at the address and it was Ellsinore and I thought crap that's a ways down 60 west then I looked at the address a bit closer and it said JJ hwy and that's not far from me so I decided to drive over there and return the wallet
02:38 PM rdtsc: bring a friend with ya
02:38 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Mobile: on two occasions recently, I've found credit cards on the street while riding.... just turned them in to the banks, both Chase.
02:38 PM JT-Mobile: I get there and there are 3 mail boxes in a row so I turn up the drive figuring the second house is his and it looked a bit like deliverance around there with junk and broken cars I tooted the horn a few times and no one came out and i was getting spooked so I tossed it his mailbox and got out of there
02:39 PM Tom_L: good idea
02:40 PM Tom_L: i found a phone once and someone called it so i told them to find the owner and i'd return it
02:40 PM JT-Mobile: at least with a phone you can call someone
02:41 PM Tom_L: doing 'acts of kindness' are getting more dangerous every day
02:41 PM JT-Mobile: the front door of the first two trailers had not been used in a long time judging by the weeds
02:41 PM Tom_L: i didn't want them having my phone number so i got the address from the caller
02:41 PM JT-Mobile: and the back porch was full of junk
02:42 PM JT-Mobile: I'm thinking I'm not walking up there and knocking on the back door
02:43 PM rdtsc: mailbox was a good idea
02:43 PM xxcoder: id do same, but without honking
02:44 PM rdtsc: and hope to gosh nothing nefarious happened
02:44 PM Tom_L: better to announce than get shot at
02:45 PM xxcoder: honestly im more likely simply walk by wallet and leave it alone
02:46 PM JT-Mobile: when I was 16 I had a savings account and saved up enough money to pay my mother back for the loan on a motorcycle
02:47 PM JT-Mobile: I got the money out and put it in my wallet, drove home down suburb streets about a mile and when I got there my wallet was gone
02:47 PM rdtsc: riding straight out of diapers :)
02:47 PM JT-Mobile: I hauled ass back up the street but someone had stolen it
02:48 PM xxcoder: that sucks
02:48 PM rdtsc: bummer... and that's when you decided on the wallet-lanyard
02:49 PM JT-Mobile: so I saved up again to pay my mother back for the loan
02:49 PM rdtsc: expensive lesson
02:49 PM JT-Mobile: back then $200 was a lot of money
03:06 PM xxcoder: https://youtu.be/hRRk0svWON0 edm homebrew
03:06 PM xxcoder: interesting
03:08 PM xxcoder: first 2 revisions habe too much runouts
03:34 PM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
03:38 PM xxcoder: wow. very different video from hand tool resuce. apparently he has phd on plants. https://youtu.be/WMo-x8Y7C-8
03:39 PM olfluffywf: you know, somehow, that doesn't actually surprise me.
03:40 PM xxcoder: video is pretty amazing. he recovers 100 year old tomoto plant seeds
03:52 PM olfluffywf: my internet is sucking today... can't even get the youtube page to load.
03:54 PM olfluffywf: "the drawbar description above is for a 3/8" 16 threads per inch (which is what my mill uses). The chuck I received needs a 1/2" 13 threads per inch drawbar." oh, apparently I have not, in fact, found one with 3/8-16 threads.
03:54 PM olfluffywf: so it looks like I'll need a new drawbar too...
03:56 PM olfluffywf: why are my old tools 3/8-16 but everything now 1/2-13? heh
03:56 PM olfluffywf: Tom_L: it's what my mill spindle is, so it's what I'll be using. lol
03:57 PM Tom_L: i'm still using sherline collets for the same reason
03:58 PM olfluffywf: https://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=2231 heh, it would figure a site dedicated for toy machines would have one with the right drawbar thread. lol
04:06 PM wolfluffyf: grrrr
04:55 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> http://6-f.cc/nc/index.php/s/C3pMLHYQf5gjCQn
04:56 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> guys pls help me find this
04:56 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i cant
04:56 PM rdtsc: ruh-roh... maybe aliexpress.com?
04:57 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> cant
04:57 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> nowhere
04:57 PM Tom_L: https://hiwin.com/
04:58 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> nope
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> doesnt exist
04:59 PM Tom_L: what is it?
05:03 PM Tom_L: flex offers 3 jog options now: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/JT-SHOP/flexgui/touch-probe3-jogstyles.png
05:07 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> ballscrew
05:09 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> Tom_L: HIWIN S093707-3 035
05:10 PM Tom_L: you'd be better measuring it and going off the dimensions
05:11 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> cant find the same 🙁
05:11 PM Tom_L: it may not be exact
05:12 PM Tom_L: https://hiwin.com/products/ballscrews-supports/
05:12 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> https://configure.hiwin.com/?pl=Ballscrews
05:12 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> is this works for you?
05:13 PM Tom_L: requires a login
05:13 PM Tom_L: or continue as guest
05:13 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> for me not even load
05:13 PM rdtsc: try a different web browser
05:14 PM wolfluffyf: continue as guest gives "cannot connect to client" here.
05:14 PM Tom_L: it was slow but did connect
05:16 PM wolfluffyf: bbl
05:17 PM Tom_L: https://info.hiwin.com/lp-technical-support#gsc.tab=0
05:17 PM Tom_L: send them the pic
05:17 PM Tom_L: and ask if they have it
05:33 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Hiwin screws are made in Taiwan
05:34 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> The USA warehouse is nearby me
05:37 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> .le_potato@: Looks like a grease fitting on a collar
05:37 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> yes
05:37 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> What is it part of?
05:37 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> number?
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Maybe your browser is blocking http vs https
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> no
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> im from hungary
05:38 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> lot of blocked sites
05:42 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> https://www.hiwin.de/en/cad-konfigurator/kugelgewindetriebe
05:42 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> looks like this works
05:52 PM roycroft: well, i decided my load limit is 1-1/2 yards of gravel
05:53 PM roycroft: i definitely felt the load this time, but i was still able to keep up with traffic except around the sharp curves
05:53 PM xxcoder: started to have issues with steering etc?
05:53 PM roycroft: no, but i was in the verge of having control issues at times
05:54 PM roycroft: i'm fine with that load, but i would not want to go any heavier
05:54 PM roycroft: the bed is still level, btw
05:54 PM xxcoder: seems it can do more, besides the secondary issues of control etc
05:54 PM roycroft: now i know my limit, and it's good to know
05:55 PM roycroft: if my life depended on hauling another half ton, i'd do it
05:55 PM roycroft: but i won't by choice
05:56 PM roycroft: and i don't forsee a situation where if i don't haul 2-1/2 tons in a single load i will die
05:58 PM xxcoder: kidnapper maybe, but yeah not likely
05:59 PM roycroft: i'm feeling recovered from the earlier work, but not particularly inspired to go unload more gravel right now
06:00 PM roycroft: the smoke has mostly gone away for now, though, and i have 50% more gravel on this load than the last, so i should probably at least get started unloading it today
06:02 PM roycroft: once i'm done with the gravel i have to move one portable garage, erect a new one, and then move both the new one and the old one again, and i need to do that all on the same day
06:02 PM roycroft: so i don't want to be dealing with gravel until tomorrow afternoon
06:04 PM * roycroft goes out before he gets too comfortable to see how long he lasts
06:31 PM * JT-Mobile understands how that works
07:19 PM roycroft: well, i'm done for the day - i unloaded about a yard, so a half yard left, and i got the entire low spot on the driveway filled
07:19 PM roycroft: i also drove back and forth over it with my partially-loaded pickup, and more than further compacting the gravel it just left some tire marks
07:19 PM roycroft: i have mud tires on the truck with treads about as deep as the grand canyon
07:20 PM roycroft: tomorrow morning i can fill the low spots and level it off a bit better with the remaining gravel, and then i'll be done with that project
07:22 PM * roycroft is looking forward to not puddles in his driveway when the rainy season arrives
07:42 PM xxcoder: I bet
07:47 PM rdtsc: ordered laser-cut steel pieces for the mill articulating arm... decently low cost. tried price-comparing Oshcut but uploads wouldn't work there - they might want to look into that
07:48 PM Tom_L: is oshcut part of that board service?
07:48 PM rdtsc: dunno; there is likely some semblance
07:48 PM * rdtsc loves oshpark... batting 0/1 with oshcut though
07:48 PM Tom_L: https://oshpark.com/
07:49 PM Tom_L: i remember when he started
07:49 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/boards/atmega32u4/atmega32U4_3.jpg
07:49 PM Tom_L: one of his batches when he was still perfecting his purple
07:50 PM rdtsc: whenever I need a board spun up, I look to him first... remember when I needed a 4-layer board any they couldn't do it - had to use royal circuits, which were also beautiful, but much more expensive
07:51 PM Tom_L: started from a robotics group up north somewhere.. i forget the group now
07:51 PM Tom_L: yeah, portland
07:52 PM rdtsc: the ENIG plating is top-notch
07:52 PM Tom_L: https://portlandrobotics.org/home.php?link_id=1
07:53 PM Tom_L: i haven't been into that in a long time
07:54 PM rdtsc: https://portlandrobotics.org/newsletters/issue01.pdf gosh 6800 assembler - a blast from the past
07:54 PM Tom_L: i did the 68hc11 and 68332
07:54 PM Tom_L: few pics and avrs
07:55 PM Tom_L: i think marvin either did the botboard or wrote the basic assembler for it
07:56 PM Tom_L: i can't remember now
07:56 PM rdtsc: our class in college was given some sort of Motorola dev boards; others were using C but I went straight for assembler... instuctor thought I was nuts :)
07:57 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/pdf/68hc11/botboard1.pdf
07:57 PM Tom_L: that was the basic board then there was the botboard2 with additional memory added
07:57 PM Tom_L: kevin ross may have done the basic compiler
07:58 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/pdf/68hc11/bb2man6.pdf
08:01 PM rdtsc: that was likely the bee's knees back in the day
08:01 PM Tom_L: was wrong, karl lunt did the basic interpreter https://hackaday.com/tag/68hc11/
08:01 PM Tom_L: it was
08:01 PM Tom_L: especially the 68332
08:03 PM Tom_L: some of the 68hc11 had a built in debugger iirc
08:03 PM Tom_L: or a 'monitor'
08:04 PM Tom_L: buffalo
08:04 PM Tom_L: Bit User Fast Friendly Aid to Logical Operation
08:04 PM Tom_L: go figure
08:05 PM Tom_L: https://neuron.eng.wayne.edu/auth/ece2620_new/buffalo.pdf
08:07 PM Tom_L: i may still have the 'pink books' somewhere
08:09 PM Tom_L: now only found on archive: https://archive.org/details/bitsavers_motorola68ferenceManualRev3_31028881
08:44 PM wolfluffyf: I wrote a little multithreaded OS for the hc11 many moons ago.
08:45 PM wolfluffyf: a thread could voluntarily end its time slice, or it would get prempted if it took too long, and the scheduler would switch to the next task.
08:48 PM wolfluffyf: no memory protection of course.
09:01 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Well - I swapped out the first Gen starlink with a second gen replacement that they sent me 2 years ago... Pretty painless..
09:04 PM Tom_L: work better?
09:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (the first Gen we have had since 1/20/21..)
09:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Seems faster.. other than the first Gen becoming unresponsive about once a week - it had been performing perfectly
09:07 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> It really has been amazing... Compared to the DSL it replaced.
09:08 PM ywolflufff: earlier today I got a small box of machining stuff at a yard sale... one item in it I'm not sure what you use it for. it's a spring collet, but backwards. the outside is parallel/cylindrical, while the inside is a female taper, possibly mt4 or so. I guess it lets you put a taper-shank tool inside of some cylindrical spindle?
09:11 PM ywolflufff: it doesn't look like an expanding collet for workholding or something, but I guess it could be that too.
09:12 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> if my Z skips steps when going up too fast then i need bigger stepper or higher gear ratio?
09:12 PM Tom_L: or slow the accel down
09:13 PM Tom_L: or use a counterweight on Z
09:13 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> http://6-f.cc/nc/index.php/s/AWCHwFCEyrQ3L3s
09:14 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> http://6-f.cc/nc/index.php/s/ELmM3nQZnNdqJpz
09:14 PM ywolflufff: or more drive voltage and current
09:14 PM Tom_L: is that 2:1 pulleys?
09:14 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> yes
09:14 PM Tom_L: i went 3:1 on mine but probably didn't need to
09:15 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> or 3:1, im not sure
09:15 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> my table weights about 400kg
09:16 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> 180mm/sec is the fastes that i can go up
09:16 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Z_Motormount4.jpg
09:16 PM Tom_L: 3:1
09:16 PM Tom_L: yours look closer to 2:1
09:17 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> 180mm/min, sorry
09:17 PM ywolflufff: what's the supply voltage to your stepper drives?
09:17 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i think i have no more space at the machine
09:18 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> 24v
09:18 PM ywolflufff: problems at speed are often fixed with higher supply voltage.
09:18 PM ywolflufff: what's the maximum your drives can take?
09:18 PM Tom_L: mine are 48v
09:18 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> 50v
09:18 PM ywolflufff: get a 48v supply and see if it works better. :)
09:19 PM ywolflufff: mine is ~65V, unregulated. (transformer+bridge+cap)
09:19 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i have to find one in the company
09:19 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> how much amps am i need?
09:20 PM ywolflufff: at least 10, probably 20...
09:21 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> http://6-f.cc/nc/index.php/s/Gcdec9mMm7jYraW
09:21 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> this happend today...
09:21 PM roycroft: you need 42 amps
09:21 PM ywolflufff: stepper torque at speed is very related to voltage. at low rpm, it's set by the current limit, but at high rpm, you never get to that current limit because of insufficient supply voltage, due to winding inductance.
09:22 PM Tom_L: mine is 18A and it does just fine
09:22 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> roycroft, why 42A
09:23 PM Tom_L: he's bluffing
09:23 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> lol
09:23 PM roycroft: because 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything
09:23 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> ah
09:23 PM roycroft: and your machine is part of the "everything" category
09:23 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> that movie
09:23 PM xxcoder: or books
09:23 PM roycroft: book, actually :)
09:23 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i seen the movie only
09:24 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i found out i can modify my machine to make Y axis from 200mm to 300mm
09:25 PM * roycroft is feeling pretty tired now, but sees that there is a new blondihacks this week, and so can chill and watch youtube videos after dinner
09:25 PM Tom_L: so it can slide off the end of the rails?
09:25 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> rail is 900mm long
09:25 PM * ywolflufff is watching said blondihacks video right now!
09:25 PM ywolflufff: she's making the reversing lever.
09:25 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> its limited by the main spindle
09:26 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> but i retrofitted another, i dont need that
09:27 PM xxcoder: that reminds me. roy btw the minirouter you have can be upgraded similirly on y axis. essentally the gantry sides is modified to have offset back, so tool can reach every point of table. might not what you want though, if you want to retain front offset to cut into side of wood
09:27 PM roycroft: my mill-drill is commonly modified to give more axis travel when being converted to cnc
09:27 PM roycroft: the slideways can handle the additional travel easily
09:27 PM roycroft: but the leadscrew is too short
09:28 PM roycroft: the solution is to get ballscrews that are longer than stock
09:28 PM Tom_L: i have more Y than the table but if i had a big part it could hang over some
09:28 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> leadscrew is 400mm long
09:28 PM xxcoder: mini-drill. interesting
09:28 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> i dont have pic, the travel is limited by the gearbox
09:29 PM roycroft: xxcoder: i've looked at the machine and pondered how i might increase travel if i felt inclined to do so
09:29 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> its only 220mm long
09:29 PM roycroft: i haven't felt so inclined yet
09:29 PM roycroft: perhaps after i start actually making parts with it ...
09:29 PM xxcoder: the mod I menioned, travel is not altered, but offset is changed
09:29 PM roycroft: oh, ok
09:29 PM Tom_L: you should cut something with it first
09:29 PM roycroft: it can overhang the front now
09:29 PM xxcoder: yup tom
09:29 PM Tom_L: not your hand
09:29 PM roycroft: that's what i'm thinking
09:29 PM roycroft: no mods before it works as is
09:29 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> cut a penis in metal
09:30 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> good for beginners
09:30 PM Tom_L: we not be amateurs here
09:30 PM xxcoder: capt (I think?) have modified similiar model minirouter
09:30 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> sorry
09:30 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> cut a big PP
09:30 PM Tom_L: x, wouldn't surprise me
09:31 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> if i remove 40kg from top of the Y axis, is it make more instable?
09:32 PM Tom_L: hard to say without seeing it
09:32 PM Tom_L: those shock absorbers on minivan rear doors?
09:33 PM Tom_L: use one of those as a counter weight
09:33 PM Tom_L: or find something similar that fits
09:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> hmm
09:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> ty
09:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> btw g2g
09:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> gn
09:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> 4:22am
09:34 PM Tom_L: pfft
09:35 PM xxcoder: I used to go to bed at 5 am everyday
09:35 PM xxcoder: 12 am bedtimes now
09:35 PM Tom_L: depends how busy i am
09:36 PM roycroft: i usually go to bed by 11 these days
09:36 PM xxcoder: 5 am because I worked till 1:45 am, and I didnt want to feel tired while at work
09:37 PM Tom_L: i'm usually up by 4-4:30
09:38 PM xxcoder: usually 9 am for me now. sleep hours is usually 6-8 hours. fun
09:38 PM xxcoder: unstable sleep sucks
09:38 PM Tom_L: i get 6 on a good night
09:38 PM Tom_L: thus the daytime naps
09:39 PM xxcoder: nearly never nap myself, even if I sleep for only 3 hours or whatever
09:39 PM Tom_L: i never used to
09:40 PM ywolflufff: I'm a 9pm bedtime person. sometimes earlier. I'm very, very much not a night person.
09:40 PM xxcoder: I dont wanna wake up and feel like I'm a zombie that just dug up from grave
09:40 PM xxcoder: so I dont do naps
09:44 PM roycroft: i get up at 6
09:44 PM roycroft: occasionally i'll sleep in 'til 7 or 8 on the weekend
10:24 PM ywolflufff: watching the hand tool rescue video... tomatoes are really hard to grow here. short, cool, moist growing season. most people only grow cherry tomatoes because they'll ripen before the plant dies.
10:24 PM xxcoder: I want to try grow some of those lol
10:25 PM xxcoder: I have 4 growing avocodo trees, one strawberry, aloe, and pemisssion plant
10:28 PM ywolflufff: I have a lot of plants.
10:30 PM ywolflufff: for food-type plants, 8 apples, 2 cherries, about 10 blueberries, about 20 other berry varieties, a lemon, a grape, two types of guava, a quince, an asian pear, a pluot, strawberries, a mystery/rare lime, and probably some others I'm forgetting.
10:31 PM xxcoder: fancy. its just few small plants for me
10:31 PM xxcoder: avocodo wont be big for years yet
10:31 PM ywolflufff: a dwarf mulberry
10:32 PM ywolflufff: right now I have grapes and blueberries ripe. maybe some raspberries left.
10:32 PM ywolflufff: apples look like they'll be ripe soon
10:32 PM ywolflufff: lemons are almost all-year round
10:33 PM xxcoder: nice
10:33 PM xxcoder: maybe in 8 or 10 years, I will have avocodos
10:33 PM ywolflufff: my favorite this year was the sour cherries... first time I've had them, and they're delicious. people say they're only good for cooking, but I absolutely loved snacking on them.
10:33 PM xxcoder: its not really my goal. im just having fun
10:34 PM ywolflufff: I may get more varieties of sour cherry in the spring when nurseries have bareroot plants.
10:34 PM ywolflufff: I want to grow lychees.
10:35 PM ywolflufff: I do have a greenhouse, and the lychee will have to live in it, as it's not frost tolerant.
10:36 PM ywolflufff: my salal and my huckelberry both died this summer... I think I gave them too much sun. pisses me off, but nothing I can do except try again.
11:11 PM xxcoder: aww running out of co2
11:11 PM xxcoder: it sucks lol
11:19 PM fywolfluff: rene-dev: the earlier conversation... it's now wolfy bedtime. lol. bbl.
11:19 PM fywolfluff: grr, auto nick completion.
11:19 PM fywolfluff: re:
11:19 PM xxcoder: lol
