12:35 AM roycroft: i ended up not going to the brew fest
12:35 AM roycroft: it's on until 11, but i'm definitely home for the night now
12:35 AM roycroft: my back hurts too much to walk around right now
12:35 AM xxcoder: seems you pushed the edge a little too hard
12:35 AM roycroft: just enough
12:35 AM roycroft: if it still hurts tomorrow it may be too much
12:35 AM roycroft: but i think i quit at just the right time - i have a couple more boxes of books to unpack, but i'll do those tomorrow
12:35 AM xxcoder: hopefully
01:39 AM Deejay: moin
05:04 AM Tom_L: morning
08:58 AM _unreal_: yawn
10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> ahhhh dammit
10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> trixie was released today?
10:09 AM Tom_L: yesterday
10:09 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> dammit
10:09 AM Tom_L: keep up...
10:10 AM Tom_L: :)
10:10 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> thats what my grandpa called women he couldnt remember their name
10:10 AM Tom_L: rpi has one but HDMI is buggy still
10:10 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> ugh not again,. ill yupgrade in 1.5-3 years
10:10 AM Tom_L: tested on P400
10:11 AM Tom_L: 12 has lasted a while
10:11 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> lets just jump ahead to 14
10:12 AM Tom_L: they pretty much skipped 11
10:12 AM Tom_L: lcnc did
10:15 AM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> lets just do the even number releases
10:18 AM Tom_L: i got the net install but haven't looked at it
10:51 AM roycroft: and here comes the heat wave
10:51 AM roycroft: i'm glad the fire is under control - i hope it stays that way, but with the heat and wind today anything could happen
11:12 AM Tom_L: shower cooled things off here a bit. only 89F today
11:27 AM roycroft: i have to go to town today - i should do that before it gets too hot
11:27 AM roycroft: i wanted to do some yard work today, but i think that when i get back i'll stick to indoor tasks
11:27 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> 73 here
11:28 AM roycroft: my shop roof plans are almost finished - that would be a good thing to work on today
11:30 AM Tom_L: skunkworks, mesaflash now supports --backup-flash with spi thanks to peter
11:30 AM Tom_L: only way to save a loaded config
11:30 AM Tom_L: of unknown origin
11:47 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> nice!
11:48 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (I have some of those lol)
12:02 PM acer is now known as _unreal_
12:06 PM _unreal_: wroking on getting my DSM-G600 setup
12:07 PM _unreal_: formatting the new HD
12:22 PM wolfluffyf: looks like my mill has 2.6.13 on it. is there any point to upgrading?
12:22 PM Tom_L: not if it works
12:25 PM wolfluffyf: yeah... I'll probably do nothing until I go to switch to the mesa board. that'll probably get a new laptop too - no longer needing to use one old enough to have a real parallel port. lol
12:34 PM xxcoder: wheew quite warm at 10 am already
12:51 PM Tom_L: spare pi parts arrived
02:18 PM _unreal_: 87f here
02:18 PM _unreal_: and looks like we are about to get rain
03:49 PM lcnc-relay: <funkenjaeger@> This is kind of driving me crazy. I have an M6 remap to an NGC. Under some circumstances, it works fine. Under other circumstances, the first time it hits a G1 command it just stops indefinitely. I saw some mention in a forum post that G1 might depend on spindle.X.at-speed where G0 doesn't? I'm interested in any ideas as to how else to debug this...
04:00 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> funkenjaeger@ I'd ask on the linuxcnc forums
04:00 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Or post on the LCNC mail list
04:14 PM lcnc-relay: <funkenjaeger@> I posted it on the forums, piggybacking on an existing thread where 3 others have had what appears to be the same problem:
04:14 PM lcnc-relay: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/40-subroutines-and-ngcgui/56014-subroutine-randomly-stops-at-first-g1-move#327080
04:14 PM lcnc-relay: But that thread has been going for 3 months without a single suggestion, let alone resolution, so I figured I'd try here.
04:30 PM Tom_L: funkenjaeger@, G1 is a 'cutting' move where G0 is not. the spindle speed wouldn't matter on G0 but it would on G1
04:37 PM lcnc-relay: <funkenjaeger@> But of course since I'm doing this in a toolchange routine, I intentionally have the spindle stopped.
04:41 PM Tom_L: check that pin in hal show to be sure what state it's in
04:41 PM Tom_L: the at speed one
04:41 PM Tom_L: then i'm not sure what to tell you
04:41 PM lcnc-relay: <funkenjaeger@> It seems to work OK if I'm not running a program, just commanding the tool change manually, in which case the spindle is never running at any point
05:18 PM rdtsc: bring up halshow and check the states of the related pins during manual and automatic modes - maybe you can spot a difference
06:33 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008982654472.html
06:33 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> how bad are these?
06:33 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008556147226.html
06:33 PM xxcoder: cheaper one might be actully a kit
06:34 PM xxcoder: ie you will have to rebuild it to get good specs
06:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> cheaper one is 2kg
06:34 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> expensive one is 25kg
06:35 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> xxcoder like how to build one?
06:35 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> for kit this is good and upgrade it?
06:35 PM xxcoder: no idea
06:36 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> and i think non of free software supports 4th axis, Tom_L? you have 4th axis
06:36 PM xxcoder: ah expensive one is harmonic
06:36 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> yes, not belt driven
06:38 PM Tom_L: my cad cam supports limited wrapped rotary
06:38 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> fusion360?
06:39 PM Tom_L: smartcam cnc
06:40 PM Tom_L: i've had it a very long time
06:40 PM Tom_L: i know nothing about f360 and it's rotary ability
06:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> .le_potato@ https://youtu.be/JSDu81jjYFs?si=T1qKHPbLsxAPyg8F

07:00 PM lcnc-relay: <.le_potato@> is this the aliexpress one?
07:00 PM Tom_L: he made that one
07:00 PM Tom_L: 3d printed
07:00 PM Tom_L: parts
08:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> 8:00 ... tired..
08:09 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> just put new baskets and drain into the 'ex's' kitchen sink
08:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it was so bad - leaked all over the place. whoever did it before didn't believe in plumbers puddy and actual seals in the pipes.
08:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (the baskets/drains were plastic)
08:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I had to cut them out they were so bad
08:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> the sink is stainless...
08:12 PM fywolfluff: I always use silicone, not plumber's putty. plumber's putty invariably seems to crack and leak within a decade, while silicone will probably outlast the sink...
08:14 PM Tom_L: silicone is alot harder to replace when the time comes
08:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have had good luck with puddy... (but have used silicone too)
08:15 PM fywolfluff: ... unlike rock hard plumber's putty, which takes either a bunch of scraping and cursing, or a wire brush in a drill and not caring what the finish on the sink looks like after? heh
08:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> dad never used puddy - but the houses I built I used it.
08:17 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> jack of all trades...
08:21 PM roycroft: i use silicone caulk as little as possible, as it's not very serviceable
11:17 PM ffywolfluf: xxcoder: were you the one that sometimes watches smm2 content?
11:17 PM xxcoder: yeah ryu. why?
11:18 PM ffywolfluf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LFti1DHgmM Carl has been playing a bunch of good troll levels lately.
11:18 PM xxcoder: thanks but nah. I dont watch that many smm2 videos
11:19 PM ffywolfluf: I don't either, but I click Carl's when youtube recommends them.
11:19 PM xxcoder: lol ok
11:22 PM xxcoder: anyway smm2 is always perfect dinnertime watching
11:22 PM xxcoder: missed a bit of it? eh dont care lol
11:23 PM ffywolfluf: smm2 is the only gaming content I watch, just for the shear.... creativity.
11:25 PM xxcoder: I do watch other gaming content, that guy who does stupid challenges lol
11:25 PM xxcoder: like crossing entire kart island without touching roads or water
11:26 PM xxcoder: or finishing a mario game without touching any coins
11:29 PM ffywolfluf: I'm not a gamer type... I just like seeing the levels people come up with.
11:29 PM ffywolfluf: ... most of which are utter trash.
11:30 PM xxcoder: lol indeed
11:30 PM xxcoder: im former gamer, most games make me literally sick now
11:30 PM xxcoder: and have been for years
11:31 PM ffywolfluf: the only game I've played in the last 5 or so years was a quick runthrough of Kitsune Tails, because someone I know recommended it.
11:35 PM xxcoder: I only played a few games, like minecraft and ksp
11:35 PM xxcoder: nowdays I only sometimes play chip challenge 1 lol
11:42 PM ffywolfluf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_O-KzRXrhk it's so nice to watch him dip the thungsten a half dozen times on one short weld... makes me feel less bad about how often I do. lol
