01:56 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> i type "T1" in mdi, prepare_prolog -> prepare.ngc -> prepare_epilog runs one by one, and prepare_epilog returns INTERP_OK. I thought the whole Txx process had already ended, but next moment i input other gcode like "g0 x10" in mdi, it stucked, the axis didn't move, seems like the process not ended yet. anybody knows why
02:11 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:15 AM Tom_L: morning
04:22 AM Tom_L: off7788, maybe you need an M6 to go with it
04:41 AM t4nk_fn: roycroft, again; thnx for reminding me :))
04:41 AM t4nk_fn: I keep forgetting about sp
05:07 AM Deejay: hi
05:24 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> welp... just got internet back yesterday, now power is out...
06:25 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> Tom_L: but what i want is just Txx runs alone, so ATC could rotate toward to spindle with the next tool, and be ready for next M6.
08:38 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I do that.. I call the next tool after the previous tool change.. (60 tool chain can take a bit)
08:39 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> But that was done 15+ years ago.
08:42 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> And the logic is done in ladder.. iirc
10:23 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> skunkworks8841@: thanks! I've figured it out. The pin iocontrol.0.tool-prepared must change to true, then the whole process can only be considered as completed. hahh
11:09 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> sure.. I think I fake the true - but make sure the tool change doesn't happen unless the tool change actually happened.
11:09 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> iirc
11:10 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> wow - that is confusing
11:10 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> *unless the tool is in the correct position..
11:13 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> off7788@ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39q6kvrSBSk
11:16 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> skunkworks8841@: wow, 14 years ago, thumbs-up! it's a big machine
11:17 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> my favorite machine to use
11:17 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (it is from the late 60's)

11:20 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> it's mine. still updating
11:31 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
11:31 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> @off what platform is that? all home made or ?
11:31 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> looks beefy
11:34 AM lcnc-relay: <off7788@> skunkworks8841@: The cast iron frame was purchased from a foundry, the rest were installed manually by myself.
11:36 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> neat
11:43 AM xxcoder: off, thats cool

02:35 PM Tom_Cell: skunkworks, I blame you....gettin another rpi5 tomorrow
02:35 PM xxcoder: rpi fever
02:36 PM Tom_Cell: I'll hook it up to one of the Mesa boards
02:56 PM Unterhaus__ is now known as Unterhausen
03:17 PM JT-Shop: now to finger out how to mount the caster to the bandsaw and lift it 1/4-1/2" at the same time

03:48 PM pere: <URL: https://www.linuxcnc.org/docs/html/gcode/g-code.html#gcode:g33 > refer to the Integrators Manual. I am unable to find a version of this for the latest LinuxCNC edition. Anyone know where it is?
03:49 PM xxcoder: uhh whats with irc ad
03:49 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> the Integrators Manual?
03:49 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> it's just a general all editions manual
03:51 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> pere: https://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/pdf/LinuxCNC_Integrator.pdf
03:52 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Integrator Information V2.9.4-85-g0eab8f8485, 13 Apr 2025

03:54 PM pere: lcnc-relay: thanks.
03:54 PM xxcoder: capt is always awesome source of info lol
03:55 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> today is hot until September
03:55 PM pere: the latest edition do not seem to have anything on spindle synchronized motion any more. :(
03:55 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> see you in the fall 🙂
03:57 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> pere: volunteer written docs
03:58 PM pere: lcnc-relay: I assume you are not aware of the fact that I have written several sections of it...
03:58 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> pere: It keeps me up at night
03:58 PM xxcoder: pere capt is one talking across linuxcnc relay bridge :D
03:59 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> xxcoder: is something being lost in translation across the bridge?
04:00 PM xxcoder: not at all
04:00 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> okekdokey
04:00 PM pere: I suspect he is talking about who is attributed to messages on the irc end, where I refer to the nick when I reply, which is lcnc-relay, not captainhindsight.
04:01 PM xxcoder: I am lol
04:01 PM JT-Shop: lcnc-relay, is anyone
04:01 PM lcnc-relay: <xxcoder@> yep
04:01 PM JT-Shop: and no one really
04:02 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> :
04:02 PM lcnc-relay: lcnc-relay: :
04:02 PM lcnc-relay: lcnc-relay:
04:02 PM JT-Shop: damn kroger has put my scripts back on auto refill again...
04:03 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> yeah i love when the pharmacy puts your scripts on auto refill and auto annoy
04:04 PM xxcoder: walgreens been good for me for a while. too bad they might evenually go under
04:04 PM xxcoder: they had shut down few stores couple years ago
04:04 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> CVS's are disappearing around here
04:05 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> some of my meds are mail order only
04:06 PM Tom_L: https://release.debian.org/ Debian 13 "trixie" was released on 9 August 2025.
04:06 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> thank you US health insurance companies
04:08 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> i have been running Sid the past few years if I'm not running Gentoo
04:08 PM xxcoder: lmde 6 here. I wonder if lmde 7 will be trixie based
04:09 PM * JT-Shop wonders why quickbooks even gives a shit what version of explorer is installed
04:09 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> shortcuts??
04:09 PM JT-Shop: and why it warns me every time I start it
04:09 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> fun with windows
04:11 PM Tom_L: it probably want's to keep calling home
04:12 PM Tom_L: mate may not be in D13
04:12 PM JT-Shop: count me out then
04:13 PM Tom_L: Debian 13 "trixie" ships with several desktop environments, such as:
04:13 PM Tom_L: GNOME 48,
04:13 PM Tom_L: KDE Plasma 6.3,
04:13 PM Tom_L: LXDE 13,
04:13 PM Tom_L: LXQt 2.1.0,
04:13 PM Tom_L: Xfce 4.20
04:13 PM JT-Shop: lxqt is horrible
04:13 PM xxcoder: so little bit newer xfce than mine. mines 4.18.2
04:13 PM pere: Tom_L: if you are interested in homecalling, I recommend having a look at the opensnitch package in Debian. :)
04:14 PM Tom_L: mate is listed later in the note
04:14 PM Tom_L: GNOME, KDE Plasma, Cinnamon, MATE, LXDE, LXQt, and Xfce
04:14 PM JT-Shop: I'm in no hurry to upgrade... still running Ubuntu 10.04 on the CHNC
04:14 PM Tom_L: me either
04:15 PM Tom_L: 12 works fine here
04:15 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> xfce 4.20 in Sid
04:15 PM xxcoder: yup
04:15 PM JT-Shop: I get error finishing read on my dev pc
04:15 PM xxcoder: well ill wait for lmde 7. apparently it wll be trixie based
04:15 PM Tom_L: pere, has linuxcnc been updated in mainstream or is it still at 2.9.0~pre?
04:15 PM JT-Shop: which can be a bit annoying
04:16 PM pere: Tom_L: do not quite understand the question, but suspect I do not know the answer.
04:16 PM Tom_L: that may be the _only_ reason i would
04:17 PM Tom_L: debian 12 still has linuxcnc 2.9.0~pre as a package and that is long outdated
04:19 PM Tom_L: yeah, synaptic package manager still shows 2.9.0~pre1
04:19 PM pere: Trixie / 13 got 2.9.4-2, <URL: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/linuxcnc >.
04:19 PM Tom_L: then it might be worth looking at for some users here
04:19 PM JT-Shop: I wonder why 12 never got updated
04:20 PM pere: lack of man-power, I assume.
04:20 PM JT-Shop: that we have very very little of
05:01 PM pcw---home: <JT-Shop> sudo chrt 99 ping -i .001 -q -c 60000 10.10.10.10 can give you an idea of how bad your Ethernet latency is
05:02 PM JT-Shop: hi pcw---home IIRC I did that before
05:04 PM pcw---home: If it's not for running a machine, you can tweak the read error threshold
05:05 PM pcw---home: setp hm2_somecard.0.packet-error-limit 100
05:07 PM roycroft: i just got the notice that debian 13 is out
05:07 PM roycroft: that means i'm going to have a bunch of work to do soon
05:07 PM Tom_L: we also announced it here
05:07 PM roycroft: once 13.1 is out, of course :)
05:07 PM Tom_L: gotta keep you busy
05:08 PM roycroft: i just got home from picking up some bookcases
05:08 PM roycroft: i have to spend a couple hours repairing them and then a few hours installing them and rearranging my books
05:09 PM roycroft: but i'll have fewer boxes to trip over soon :)
05:09 PM roycroft: there is a charity brewfest in town today - it starts in about 2 minutes
05:09 PM roycroft: i may go over there for a bit - i've yet to participate in a festival/event in this town
05:10 PM roycroft: and i really want to deal with the bookcases, but drinking a refreshing beverage for charity sounds like a great idea
05:11 PM JT-Shop: pcw---home, thanks, I'll try that
05:11 PM roycroft: it's also pretty hot, and the event is outdoors, so maybe i'll work on the bookcases for a while and head over there when the sun starts going down
05:11 PM JT-Shop: and no it's not on a running machine
05:11 PM roycroft: anyway, i'll be interested in hearing how folks are getting on with debian 13 and linuxcnc
05:11 PM roycroft: maybe i'll be making stuff with the minirouter before debian 14 comes out
05:12 PM pcw---home: I wonder what it's default RT kernel will be
05:13 PM roycroft: i don't pay much attention to raspberry pi os release schedules
05:13 PM roycroft: how lagged are they from mainstream debian usually?
05:45 PM Tom_L: maybe i'll pull an iso and see
05:46 PM Tom_L: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=372953
05:48 PM Tom_L: https://raspi.debian.net/tested-images/
05:48 PM Tom_L: you can get one 'tested' on a p400
05:51 PM Tom_L: sounds like HDMI is buggy
06:52 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, mesaflash says 7c80 doesn't support --backup-flash. is there another way to backup the contents? i'm getting ready to test write verify for mesact and would like to keep what's on the board
06:53 PM Tom_L: i have the 7c80d.bit file which i think is the 'stock' one...
06:55 PM pcw---home: I'll take a look at mesaflash, I don't think the low level interface should have any affect on whether --backup works
06:56 PM pcw---home: but 7c80d.bit is whats installed on as shipped 7C80s
07:00 PM Tom_L: i did a verify and it burped on that
07:00 PM Tom_L: i'm not as concerned... just knowing 7c80d.bit is the default
07:02 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: --verify 7c80d.bit
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: Checking file... OK
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: File type: Xilinx bit file
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: Boot sector OK
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: Verifying FLASH memory sectors starting from 0x200000...
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: |
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: Error at 0x2000EB expected: 0x8 but read: 0x0
07:02 PM Tom_rpi5: so they're not quite the same
07:03 PM Tom_rpi5: the dump looks the same as the pin file though
07:05 PM pcw---home: might be a version issue (every compilation will be a bit different due to using random seeds for the placement engine)
07:06 PM Tom_L: yeah
07:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Tom_L: sorry
07:06 PM Tom_L: no you're not!
07:06 PM Tom_L: :)
07:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> no - I am not
07:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> 😉
07:07 PM Tom_L: i got another whole kit instead of just the board so i can move things around and not 'need' something later
07:07 PM Tom_L: was just gonna get the board and a fan
07:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yah - I usually buy the kits..
07:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Then I don't have to worry about a sdcard or such
07:09 PM Tom_L: made sure the heatsink was the fan verion though
07:09 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yes - I need to do that next time
07:10 PM Tom_L: i should try trixie for it to see how bad it is
07:10 PM pcw---home: MD5 (7c80d.bit) = 651eaea6bee24c2a0cbaec85e216b411
07:11 PM pcw---home: MD5 (7c80spi.bit) = f2118be8e0669a12fe2e837ada27ed7a
07:11 PM pcw---home: so yes the installed version differs a bit from the one in the zip file
07:11 PM Tom_L: i won't worry with it then
07:12 PM pcw---home: probably just a different compile
07:12 PM Tom_L: yup
07:13 PM pcw---home: I don't normally update the files on the install system (unless there's a bug)
07:13 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> hmm - I am missing one of the rpi5... wonder where I put that..
07:14 PM Tom_L: hey man, don't look at me....
07:14 PM pcw---home: you need to have enough that you saturate space (like pencils)
07:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol - I am not there yet
07:14 PM Tom_L: the rule of life is, he who dies with the most toys wins!
07:15 PM acer: working on getting the machines setup again
07:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I win
07:15 PM acer is now known as _unreal_
07:15 PM Tom_L: no doubt there
07:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I found it.. i forgot I was 'organizing' electronics to one area
07:16 PM Tom_L: pfft... organizing... please
07:16 PM _unreal_: skunk why didnt you ask me I could have told ya
07:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I gry
07:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> try
07:16 PM Tom_L: i bet this xz image is built for a certain platform
07:16 PM _unreal_: I go to random people all the time "hay do you know where I ......??? I forget"
07:16 PM Tom_L: and wouldn't work on the 5
07:17 PM Tom_L: the trixie xz tested on P400
07:17 PM _unreal_: god having internet REAL internet is wonderful
07:17 PM _unreal_: again
07:17 PM Tom_L: the HDMI doesn't work right yet anyway
07:18 PM _unreal_: hay tom when I get to it I'll be setting up a compound server. if your interested I'd love some advice WHEN I get to it. on means method
07:18 PM _unreal_: prob 2 blade servers xeons
07:18 PM _unreal_: media, home, security video, and other functions
07:19 PM _unreal_: I have 3-4 hardware security camera systems that are network capable.
07:19 PM _unreal_: looking for suggestions on setup WHEN I get to it
07:19 PM Tom_L: i'm no server xpert
07:20 PM _unreal_: I'm still trying to get the Gurage in order. along with the "office"
07:21 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, if you figure something out i'll test --backup-flash again
07:21 PM lfluffywof: I just looked for my er32 collet set.... which I think I remembered to buy, but not sure. sigh.... I have too much tooling, and not nearly enough sorting of tooling.
07:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Tom_L: I modified the case and bought the better fan..
07:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/tR3rvfEpNWHhnhRn7
07:21 PM lfluffywof is now known as fluffywolf
07:21 PM Tom_L: i knew you'd gotten some fans
07:21 PM * fluffywolf buys another $29 er32 collet set
07:22 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VbIfcUueo5weRI4fRf4yaJ31EUiNOWxg/view?usp=drive_link
07:22 PM Tom_L: yeah that case is different than mine a bit
07:22 PM _unreal_: let me know if anyone can see that
07:22 PM _unreal_: not sure if sharing is right
07:22 PM Tom_L: requires signin so nope
07:22 PM _unreal_: :/
07:23 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, now you need to cut the side out of it so a ribbon will fit
07:23 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VbIfcUueo5weRI4fRf4yaJ31EUiNOWxg/view?usp=sharing
07:23 PM _unreal_: and now
07:23 PM _unreal_: ?
07:23 PM Tom_L: can't say for sure
07:23 PM Tom_L: it's kinda blurry
07:24 PM Tom_L: like half the pixels are missing
07:24 PM fluffywolf: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYGVDVXK? will know next week how shit they are. heh.
07:24 PM * Tom_L lets him stew a bit
07:25 PM Tom_L: fluffywolf, did you get that touch probe?
07:25 PM Tom_L: i have one and think it's adquate
07:25 PM _unreal_: er32 to 11 converter?
07:25 PM fluffywolf: no, I decided to not spend the money.
07:25 PM fluffywolf: the drive.google.com link doesn't load at all for me
07:25 PM Tom_L: it was fine here
07:26 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, so you were able to see the cnc room
07:27 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, the first or second link?
07:27 PM fluffywolf: second. times out. probably a network issue or I'm getting a dead server. heh.
07:27 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, are you in the USA?
07:27 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> we have some 'big' touch pobes on the matsurra and K&T - they work great. also - renishaw probe on the green macine...
07:27 PM fluffywolf: yes
07:28 PM Tom_L: for a cheapass probe it's pretty hard to beat
07:28 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, if your in the USA then I'd say a network issue
07:28 PM _unreal_: if tom has had no issues in the over all
07:28 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have 2 of those 'cheap' probes too
07:28 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> have not used them yet
07:29 PM Tom_L: like someone suggested here though, you need a way to index it
07:29 PM Tom_L: after fine tuning zero
07:29 PM _unreal_: I also learned recently the mouse Im using on this computer is F'ed up. I was wondering why it never shuts off the screen. the mouse is always sending rogue data. if I flip it up side down. the display will time out. if I dont the display is always turning on./
07:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (I do on all machines - index the spindle)
07:30 PM Tom_L: he's got collets
07:30 PM Tom_L: a little harder to do
07:30 PM Tom_L: er i think
07:30 PM fluffywolf: I really wish I had a proper place for machine tools... then I could unpack all my tooling, and pick half of it to put on ebay, because I have way too much. heh.
07:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> sure - I have dedicated holder for all the probes
07:30 PM _unreal_: one of my big new house issues is I have lost my daughters zip lock bag filled with all the screws CUSTOM screws that she needs to put her desk back together. I'm likely going to have to purchase a new desk for her :/
07:31 PM Tom_L: or tell her to keep looking
07:31 PM _unreal_: I lost them
07:31 PM fluffywolf: oooor... run in some deck screws with your impact driver, and call it good.
07:31 PM _unreal_: dont kno wwhat box
07:31 PM Tom_L: so?
07:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol - you will find them in about 1 year
07:31 PM _unreal_: naa its got those special proprietary screws for MDF furniture construction.
07:32 PM _unreal_: skunk I'll find them the second I buy a replacement desk
07:32 PM _unreal_: SECOND
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> probably
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is how it works
07:32 PM Tom_L: keep the receipt
07:32 PM _unreal_: palm to face
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> so - you can only find other peoples stuff?
07:32 PM _unreal_: if I keep the receipt I wont find the screws.
07:32 PM _unreal_: come on be real
07:33 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> metric?
07:33 PM _unreal_: lost stuff knows better then to show in that case
07:33 PM fluffywolf: I got a used-once new chainsaw at a yard sale because of that. Guy couldn't find his chainsaw, looked all over, decided someone must have stolen it... so went out and bought a new one. cut up the one tree he needed to cut up, went to put it away... and guess what was sitting in the spot he finally picked to put it away in? heh
07:33 PM Tom_L: at least half of them would be
07:34 PM fluffywolf: but, I'd use deck screws way before I bought an entire new desk. heh.
07:35 PM Tom_L: the last 'kit' i put together had at least 2 different types of heads requiring multiple tools to fasten them
07:35 PM Tom_L: torx, hex, phillips...
07:37 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I am up to 5 chainsaws here.. and I think there is atleast 1 more I have not found
07:37 PM fluffywolf: I have several, but ever since I got my 60V dewalt, it's the only one I've used.
07:38 PM fluffywolf: the user experience is so far superior to gas, that I haven't had any desire to use any of my gas ones again.
07:39 PM Tom_L: just 3 here
07:39 PM Tom_L: but each has a purpose
07:40 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I could do with 2 - small one for branches and a larger one for big trees
07:40 PM Tom_L: i love my top handle stihl for branches
07:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> dad went stihl - the one he had for ages was a sears...
07:41 PM fluffywolf: I have the 60v dewalt, the one-handed 20v pruning dewalt, a stihl, a poulan (that was the yard sale one), two old homelites that I haven't used in decades (the big blue all metal kind), and three Minibrute 12v saws, that I should ebay.
07:41 PM fluffywolf: and two pole saw chainsaw attachments for my weedeater.
07:41 PM Tom_L: stihl pole saw too and an old mac that just won't quit
07:42 PM Tom_L: 24" bar on it
07:42 PM Tom_L: 10 on the other 2
07:42 PM Tom_L: i think
07:44 PM fluffywolf: the Minibrutes are an oddball... most people have never heard of one. they're a 12V saw with jumper cables for connecting to your vehicle battery, and cutting within 25ft of the front of your vehicle. heh.
07:46 PM fluffywolf: https://www.picclickimg.com/1XYAAOSwU8hY6uQ1/Minibrute-12V-Volt-Battery-Chainsaw-Model-B2-Tensen.webp proper all-metal construction, zero plastic.
07:47 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> holy crap - I really thought I threw this out
07:47 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/KJ7Qw2mYeDZk2iZb9
07:47 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I was looking for it the other day...
07:47 PM _unreal_: hum. I think I have 3 or 4 chains saws on hand
07:47 PM _unreal_: one of is my dads old crafstman
07:48 PM _unreal_: others are eletric and POLE electric
07:48 PM Tom_L: mmm i used to have one of those
07:48 PM _unreal_: which?
07:48 PM _unreal_: crafsman
07:48 PM Tom_L: and a pile of logic books when they used to print them
07:48 PM _unreal_: the crafsman I need to do a rebuild on
07:49 PM fluffywolf: skunk: I have one of those somewhere still too, I think. then it became NTE...
07:49 PM Tom_L: ECG book
07:49 PM _unreal_: that motoar hasnt run in prob 20 years
07:49 PM Tom_L: newtone wasn't it?
07:49 PM Tom_L: NTE
07:50 PM _unreal_: heh. before internet digikey, mouser etc... there was an NTE distributer in Bangor or brewer maine. some 25 years ago
07:50 PM _unreal_: I use to visit there often
07:50 PM fluffywolf: Tom_L: I still have my TI ttl data book and power semi data book, circa 1980.
07:51 PM _unreal_: I've got a lot of radio shack electronics books
07:52 PM _unreal_: when I was in (civil air patrol) as a young cadet, my troop lead also worked at the local radio shack where I grew up in maine. Hell I wonder if he is even still alive, I believe he was in his 70's when I left main in 2013.
07:52 PM _unreal_: maine
07:53 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> so much time was spent cross refrencing simiconductors..
07:53 PM _unreal_: YUP!!!
07:54 PM pcw---home: <Tom_L> mesaflash _may_ support backup/restore on SPI cards now, but might support crashing or corrupting SPI flash
07:54 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> the ecg book worked well - compared to the internet.. but maybe I have not found the correct site
07:54 PM _unreal_: ! hell come to think of it. I believe I still have the entire KIT of parts for 5 LM3885 speaker drivers I was going to build. never got to it. TOOO much family issue for the past 20 years :(
07:56 PM Tom_L: https://archive.org/details/EcgSemiconductorsMasterReplacementGuide1989
07:58 PM Tom_L: https://www.sourceresearch.com/nte/guide2.cfm
07:59 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, so your advice? don't use it?
07:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> this one is dated 1987
07:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> looks similar though
07:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I spent so much time flipping through that book when I was younger..
07:59 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, is jtag recovery the same as i did with the 7i90?
08:00 PM Tom_L: load the bit file to the xilinx then write using mesaflash to the eeprom?
08:02 PM _unreal_: wow that was fast. I just downloaded the entire PDF ecg guide in 3 seconds 900mb
08:02 PM fluffywolf: oh, speaking of my having waaaay too much tooling... found this while looking for my collets. haven't seen it in a number of years. https://imgur.com/a/Sc67qV2 it's heavier than my sherline mill. lol.
08:03 PM _unreal_: this 500 fiber plan is crazy, I average upto 800MB a second download.
08:03 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, GOOD LORD
08:03 PM fluffywolf: that's nice.
08:03 PM fluffywolf: it took me five minutes to upload that 3.74MB image.
08:03 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, south florida
08:04 PM xxcoder: wow thats about the beefest I ever seen
08:04 PM xxcoder: if I figure scale right
08:04 PM _unreal_: missing a few carbides
08:04 PM xxcoder: I only ran one tool bigger than that, and I barely could lift it into spindle then
08:04 PM fluffywolf: it's a bit over a foot across.
08:05 PM fluffywolf: _unreal_: the last owner was running it every other tooth.
08:05 PM _unreal_: what feed rate do you run that at
08:05 PM xxcoder: yours is more heavy duty, but one I used had more inserts
08:05 PM fluffywolf: probably keeping required torque down.
08:05 PM _unreal_: fluffywolf, i was just noticing that
08:05 PM fluffywolf: (using it on too small of a machine)
08:05 PM xxcoder: 20 inserts something, only one type, unlike yours that have two
08:06 PM _unreal_: must have been on a 20HP + machine
08:06 PM _unreal_: JESUS
08:07 PM fluffywolf: I don't own a machine anymore that could turn it.
08:07 PM _unreal_: 300-1500 RPM
08:07 PM fluffywolf: well, at a useful depth of cut.
08:07 PM xxcoder: turn it into machinist crown
08:07 PM xxcoder: if your neck is strong enough
08:07 PM fluffywolf: it will physically fit my lathe/mill combo, but it's not rigid nor powerful enough to usefully use it. it won't physically fit my sherline. heh.
08:07 PM _unreal_: ouch
08:08 PM fluffywolf: when I got it, I had a 4500lb knee mill...
08:09 PM fluffywolf: I have the NT40 arbor for it *somewhere*... for the mill I no longer have.
08:09 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/MTc2sAhzBCnus2hW7
08:10 PM xxcoder: man that pic reminded m of that times I had to knell on cnc machine table so I could use knee to lift that danged 12" facemill in spindle
08:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> that is 12 inch lol
08:11 PM xxcoder: I had to hold it one handed to press tool hold button
08:11 PM xxcoder: yeah like you said earlier ;)
08:12 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> no - 10 inch.. wonder where the 12 inch one is
08:12 PM fluffywolf: skunk: mine is 10" at the inside, but the carbides angle outwards, for like a 1" maximum cut depth, and a foot wide at the outside.
08:13 PM fluffywolf: it's like 3" thick, not a thin disc like that.
08:14 PM fluffywolf: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184122432969 there's one with a bunch of photos
08:14 PM xxcoder: yeah definitely very different type
08:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> neat
08:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/kQzVCJ7xFe369c8R6
08:15 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, spi_boards.c LN 260... i thought you went with HD naming?
08:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> and yes - that tooling has barcodes on it...
08:16 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> from the 60's
08:16 PM fluffywolf: hrmm, googling says it's labeled an 8". it's a whole lot bigger than 8". lol
08:17 PM fluffywolf: they must be measuring between the very inside of the carbides or something
08:17 PM fluffywolf: skunk: I have about 40 plastic totes of tooling, packed in such a manner as to maximize density for storage, not to facilitate finding any of it...
08:18 PM fluffywolf: some of the totes are probably pushing 200lbs...
08:18 PM xxcoder: ah totes of backbreaking
08:18 PM fluffywolf: yep
08:18 PM fluffywolf: lol
08:19 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> we have a ton of bt35 tooling for the matsuura too
08:20 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I need to figure out why the z axis errors on inital turn on
08:20 PM fluffywolf: my knee mill was nt40, my lathe/mill combo is mt2, my sherline is mt1...
08:20 PM _unreal_: trying to teach my daughter to cook. I think I could teach a brick stone soup with less effort
08:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol - you can't force it.
08:21 PM fluffywolf: I can make pasta.
08:21 PM * fluffywolf is not cooking inclined.
08:21 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> my son has figured out he likes to cook.. simple stuff.. eggs and such.
08:22 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> my daughter makes herself pasta and redsausce when she is hungry
08:22 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (10 and 12)
08:23 PM pcw---home: <Tom_L> sorry about the name. fixed on github
08:24 PM pcw---home: (got too eager with undo in the editor)
08:24 PM Tom_L: o
08:24 PM Tom_L: i'll fix it locally
08:24 PM fluffywolf: I hope someday I can have shop space again.
08:24 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> or she makes a quesadilla...
08:24 PM Tom_L: pcw---home, is jtag recovery the same as on the 7i90?
08:24 PM fluffywolf: unpack all the totes into spaces where I can actually locate things I need... get rid of the other half of it that I don't need... heh.
08:24 PM Tom_L: jtag to the xilinx chip then mesaflash the eeprom?
08:25 PM pcw---home: Yes, JTAG bootstrap is the same as for EPP/Ethernet
08:25 PM Tom_L: just in case
08:25 PM Tom_L: so if --backup corrupts that's how to recover?
08:25 PM Tom_L: or --restore rather
08:25 PM pcw---home: well --backup should only complain/crash
08:25 PM Tom_L: right
08:25 PM Tom_L: the restore is the killer
08:26 PM Tom_L: what are the odds?
08:26 PM Tom_L: :)
08:26 PM fluffywolf: I saw my mesa boards while looking for the collets today! ... still in the box they came in. sigh.
08:27 PM pcw---home: If backup does something reasonable, its likely restore will work
08:27 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/7mpv4x6TMmxmJYiR7
08:27 PM Tom_L: ok. i'll see if i get a file
08:28 PM fluffywolf: that is a workholding system I have never seen before.
08:28 PM Tom_L: if not i'll wait for a fair ammount of time to fix before trying it
08:28 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> tombstone?
08:28 PM fluffywolf: "is it fixed yet? is it fixed yet? how about now?" :P
08:29 PM fluffywolf: if that's what it's called. lol
08:29 PM pcw---home: you might check that the file: 1. is the right size, 2, is not empty (and maybe even has the sync char)
08:30 PM Tom_L: what size am i looking for?
08:30 PM pcw---home: should be the whole EEPROM
08:31 PM Tom_L: top tip: it helps to plug the board in
08:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol
08:31 PM fluffywolf: pcw---home: realisticly, how much time would it take me to set up my 7i76e in place of a parallel port breakout board, and have linuxcnc fully working with it?
08:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/kzHhc5iim7WCLkxh7
08:32 PM fluffywolf: is it a "move the wires over and change two settings in linuxcnc" type thing, or a huge project?
08:32 PM fluffywolf: it's been like 10 years since I looked at the manual, sadly...
08:32 PM fluffywolf: skunk: it's a sexy machine, whatever it is. lol
08:33 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:33 PM pcw---home: You would create a configuration with pncconf or mesact
08:33 PM Tom_rpi5: it's writing something...
08:33 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it is a Kearney and Trecker milwaukee matic IIIb... lol
08:33 PM Tom_rpi5: how big is the eeprom?
08:34 PM pcw---home: thats promising (especially if in not all 0s or all Fs)
08:34 PM pcw---home: normally 16 Mbit
08:34 PM Tom_rpi5: 1.1mb
08:34 PM Tom_rpi5: so far
08:34 PM pcw---home: though some are 32 Mbit
08:34 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://electronicsam.com/images/KandT/oldkandt.JPG
08:34 PM Tom_rpi5: just my luck..
08:35 PM pcw---home: yeah did not expect it to be fast
08:35 PM xxcoder: too bad theres never been any good photo of that specific machine
08:35 PM Tom_rpi5: no reading the whole thing will take some time
08:35 PM fluffywolf: skunk: my biggest machine was a https://946e583539399c301dc7-100ffa5b52865b8ec92e09e9de9f4d02.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/15179/2569798.jpg . 4500lb knee mill.
08:35 PM Tom_rpi5: 2mb
08:35 PM pcw---home: the Ethernet one is fast because it has local brains
08:36 PM fluffywolf: brown&sharpe, and they built it to the same tolerances and fit&finish as their measuring tools... amazingly well made.
08:36 PM Tom_rpi5: sudo mesaflash --device 7c80 --spi --addr /dev/spidev0.0 --backup-flash 7c80_flash.bit
08:36 PM Tom_rpi5: Creating backup 32Mb FLASH memory on the 7C80 board:
08:36 PM Tom_rpi5: Reading FLASH memory sectors starting from 0x0...
08:36 PM xxcoder: brown and sharpe used to be good
08:36 PM Tom_rpi5: 32mb
08:37 PM pcw---home: so you just tell it to read say 64 double words and send it back in a packet
08:37 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> fluffywolf: we had a brown and sharp ages ago.. Really nice machine
08:37 PM fluffywolf: power feed in every direction, including knee, 18 speed mechanical spindle gearbox with a 2.5" diameter output shaft,...
08:37 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> cat 50
08:37 PM fluffywolf: this one was 40. it was also available in a 50 version, but that isn't the one I had.
08:37 PM fluffywolf: nt40, not cat40.
08:38 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://electronicsam.com/images/brownsharp/scan0219.jpg
08:38 PM Tom_rpi5: the bulk of it will be blank right?
08:38 PM fluffywolf: (and yours was probably nt50, not cat50... I don't think there's any overlap between the existence of b&s mills and cat spindles. lol)
08:38 PM pcw---home: the SPI interface is just accessing a 8 bit SPI register over and over so really slow
08:38 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> sure
08:38 PM pcw---home: Yes mostly empty
08:39 PM fluffywolf: that's one generation older of the same machine i had.
08:39 PM Tom_rpi5: you can tell --restore to limit how much?
08:39 PM Tom_rpi5: or does it have to go thru the whole thing
08:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> atleast.. did a lot of work - but it was clapped out
08:39 PM Tom_rpi5: it wrote 4.0MB and gave me a checksum file
08:39 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> we have no manual mills here anymore
08:40 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> so much easier to throw something on the cnc
08:40 PM pcw---home: it does the whole thing (should be even slower than read)
08:40 PM fluffywolf: mine wasn't badly worn, but had a number of really poor repairs done to it over the years. ways were all nice and straight, and no binding with the gibs tight anywhere on their travel.
08:40 PM Tom_rpi5: i got a 4MB bit file with a checksum file
08:41 PM Tom_rpi5: the file should be alot bigger no?
08:41 PM pcw---home: now it gets dangerous...
08:41 PM fluffywolf: but, I didn't have a shop, so I had it at someone else's shop... and they had been hinting for a while that it was taking up space... then they called me up and told me if I didn't come get it right now, it wouldn't be there tomorrow. and I had no way to get it. and now I have no big mill. heh.
08:41 PM pcw---home: 4 MB is correct for a 32 Mbit flash chip
08:42 PM fluffywolf: 1mbyte = 8mbit
08:42 PM Tom_rpi5: not alot in the file
08:42 PM Tom_rpi5: from 000000100 on it's FF
08:43 PM pcw---home: the very beggining should have the boot block then 64K of nothing
08:43 PM Tom_rpi5: unless you load the file further in
08:43 PM Tom_rpi5: one sec
08:44 PM Tom_rpi5: http://paste.debian.net/1390622/
08:44 PM Tom_rpi5: yeah i see the sync bits
08:45 PM Tom_rpi5: first row
08:45 PM pcw---home: the first image is at 64K and the second at 1/2 way up
08:45 PM fluffywolf: got rid of my mill, my clausing lathe, and my 3-phase rotary converter. I rescued my tooling, at least.
08:46 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I am lucky enough to have 3 phase here
08:46 PM pcw---home: 64K meaning 0x10000
08:46 PM Tom_rpi5: scrolling... dunno this hex editor very well
08:46 PM fluffywolf: the lathe I don't miss. that thing was worn out to the point of hilarity.
08:47 PM Tom_rpi5: http://paste.debian.net/1390623/
08:47 PM fluffywolf: if I tightened up the gibs near the tail end, it'd have an eighth inch of play near the spindle. and, of course, if I tightened them near the spindle, you couldn't move more than a few inches away from the spindle before it jammed up.
08:47 PM Tom_rpi5: it's in the right spot
08:48 PM fluffywolf: when I got it, the gibs were adjusted so far that they were sticking more than half their length out of the carriage, with some scrap metal jammed in the other half of the carraige to make up the space between the gib and the adjuster that was supposed to be in the gib...
08:48 PM pcw---home: Looks reasonable
08:49 PM * Tom_rpi5 rolls the dice and makes a bet
08:49 PM Tom_rpi5: where would the backup start?
08:49 PM pcw---home: gonna take a while...
08:49 PM fluffywolf: spindle bearings were grumbly and not very round, every leadscrew nut was shot, every part had crash marks on it...
08:50 PM Tom_rpi5: yeah i may wait til morning to start a restore
08:50 PM pcw---home: Not sure what you mean, backup/restore always do the whole chip
08:50 PM Tom_rpi5: is the 0x10000 the primary image?
08:50 PM pcw---home: I forget
08:51 PM Tom_rpi5: where would the fallback start?
08:51 PM pcw---home: 1/2 way up
08:51 PM pcw---home: (or vice-versa)
08:52 PM Tom_rpi5: 0x8000?
08:53 PM fluffywolf: https://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/config/pncconf.html doesn't seem to mention ethernet boards at all?
08:55 PM pcw---home: Fallback is at 0x10000, user is at 1/2 way up
08:56 PM pcw---home: pncconf and mesact both support the 7I76E/7I76EU
08:57 PM fluffywolf: I have the older non-U version. got it from you about a decade ago. lol
08:58 PM Tom_rpi5: worst case i'd have to jtag and reload the bit file right?
08:59 PM pcw---home: 0x8000 would be 512k so half way up on a 8 Mbit device
09:00 PM pcw---home: 0x80000 I mean
09:01 PM Tom_rpi5: 0x80000 is all FF
09:02 PM fluffywolf: is it one of the boards where a jumper sets one of the address lines?
09:05 PM pcw---home: it should be
09:06 PM fluffywolf: can it physically access the whole rom at once?
09:06 PM Tom_rpi5: ok i thinki found something
09:07 PM Tom_rpi5: http://paste.debian.net/1390625/
09:07 PM pcw---home: if you have 32 Mbit flash chip, 1/2 way up would be a 2 Mbyte 0r 0x200000
09:07 PM Tom_rpi5: that's the sync part right?
09:07 PM Tom_rpi5: start of the 2nd image
09:07 PM pcw---home: yep
09:07 PM Tom_rpi5: cool
09:07 PM Tom_rpi5: i bet it's all there
09:08 PM pcw---home: so looks ok
09:08 PM Tom_rpi5: it's got data after that
09:09 PM pcw---home: I think the image is about 340 KBytes
09:10 PM pcw---home: each image
09:10 PM Tom_rpi5: here goes nuthin
09:10 PM Tom_rpi5: EEEE
09:10 PM Tom_rpi5: WWWW
09:11 PM Tom_rpi5: so far so good
09:11 PM pcw---home: I think Tormach hides some stuff in the unused area
09:11 PM Tom_rpi5: writing 64 sectors
09:11 PM Tom_rpi5: strting from 0.0
09:12 PM Tom_rpi5: it's like waiting for paint to dry...
09:13 PM pcw---home: yeah you could add ranges for backup and restore to just do a part and save time
09:14 PM Tom_rpi5: it doesn't do a verify does it?
09:15 PM pcw---home: i guess you could add --verify if you enjoy waiting
09:15 PM Tom_rpi5: heh no thanks
09:15 PM Tom_rpi5: oh crap... it does
09:15 PM Tom_rpi5: i didn't tell it that either
09:15 PM Tom_rpi5: just --restore-flash
09:16 PM fluffywolf: just do another backup and compare the files. :)
09:16 PM Tom_rpi5: i can cancel that but i think i'll let it run thru just to test this and see
09:16 PM Tom_rpi5: fluffywolf, same difference
09:16 PM Tom_rpi5: so verify on this is built in
09:17 PM pcw---home: I think the main reason for using backup/restore is if there a custom or unknown config on a system and you don't want to lose it
09:17 PM Tom_rpi5: right
09:17 PM pcw---home: not a normal thing
09:17 PM Tom_rpi5: no i agree
09:17 PM Tom_rpi5: but when i started i wasn't sure what it was
09:18 PM Tom_rpi5: compared to the pin file it looked the same
09:18 PM Tom_rpi5: i'll let it finish just to test the process
09:19 PM pcw---home: Yeah that's an issue with .bit files, they are all unique.
09:19 PM Tom_rpi5: i see that now
09:19 PM pcw---home: even from the same toolset and same source.
09:20 PM Tom_rpi5: when it's done should i power cycle?
09:20 PM pcw---home: I dont think the efinix tool set is like that, with efinix, you specify the random number seed
09:20 PM pcw---home: or use --reload
09:21 PM Tom_rpi5: warmed up the rpi...
09:22 PM Tom_rpi5: Board FLASH memory verified successfully.
09:22 PM pcw---home: Waiting for a red light stuck on and bad words...
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: sudo mesaflash --device 7c80 --spi --addr /dev/spidev0.0 --readhmid
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: Configuration Name: HOSTMOT2
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: General configuration information:
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: BoardName : MESA7C80
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: FPGA Size: 9 KGates
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: FPGA Pins: 144
09:23 PM Tom_rpi5: cool beans
09:24 PM pcw---home: now 32 Mbit cards are uncommon (only used during the chip shortage) though XC7A50 card will need 128 Mbit
09:25 PM pcw---home: OK so other than being really slow (especially on 32M SPI cards) it's working! Thanks for testing!
09:25 PM Tom_rpi5: glad to help
09:25 PM pcw---home: bbl dinner
09:26 PM Tom_rpi5: time for r&r here
09:41 PM fluffywolf: bbl, getting the laptop for the mill out of storage
11:01 PM roycroft: the new bookcases are installed, and almost filled
11:01 PM roycroft: i added 36 linear feet of shelves to the library
11:01 PM fluffywolf: my "new bookcases" have taken the form of stacks of cardboard boxes lately...
11:01 PM roycroft: i guess i had a lot of books in boxes
11:33 PM roycroft: i just placed an order with office depot for delivery
11:33 PM roycroft: they gave me three shipment options: free delivery on august 12, free delivery on august 13, and free delivery on august 18
11:33 PM roycroft: i decided to choose free delivery on august 12
11:34 PM roycroft: interesting options, though
11:34 PM xxcoder: you might be out on 12th
11:36 PM * Tom_L wonders if they will be as prompt as the USPS
11:38 PM * Tom_L waits for the SD to finish writing.
11:39 PM Tom_L: things were much simpler with 64k ram & 10mb mfm hdd
11:39 PM roycroft: i've been a subscriber to fine woodworking magazine since the late '70s
11:39 PM roycroft: and i have every issue going back to issue 1
11:39 PM roycroft: the magazines are great resources, but they've been packed in boxes for years
11:39 PM Tom_L: not doing much good there
11:39 PM roycroft: about 3 years ago i bought some boards to make a magazine book case, but never got around to doing it
11:40 PM roycroft: i actually have those boards stored in my shop
11:40 PM roycroft: but with the book cases i got today i reserved space for those magazines
11:40 PM roycroft: and i just ordered a bunch of magazine cases for them
11:40 PM roycroft: so on tuesday i should get those, and finally start organizing the magazines
11:41 PM roycroft: right now it's hard to use them for research, being in the boxes and mostly inaccessible
11:42 PM roycroft: so currently i use them for random inspiration - they are not organized at all in the boxes, so every once in a while i'll go pull a half dozen random issues out of a box and see what's in them
11:43 PM roycroft: i'll kind of miss the randomness
11:44 PM roycroft: but i can still sort of do that - once they're in the cases and ordered sequentially i can still go in and pull an issue out of various random cases
11:44 PM Tom_L: were some of the articles based on the newest 'trick' tool that may have come out at the time?
11:44 PM roycroft: but as long as i put them back when i'm done, i can also find a specific issue
11:45 PM roycroft: yeah, there are always articles on new tools
11:45 PM roycroft: i use them mostly for design inspiration at this point
11:45 PM roycroft: i'm pretty familiar with the tools, and i'm pretty familiar with most methods of work
11:45 PM Tom_L: ok SD is done and so am i
11:46 PM Tom_L: gnite
11:46 PM roycroft: i'm totaly exhausted
11:46 PM roycroft: fixing up and installing the book cases was not that hard
11:46 PM roycroft: but moving all the books around was a lot of work
11:46 PM roycroft: i had to move three other book cases to make room for the new ones
11:46 PM Tom_L: spi is getting ironed out though
11:47 PM roycroft: which meant emptying them out, moving them, then refilling them with books
11:47 PM roycroft: i'm sure i moved over 1000 books today
11:47 PM roycroft: and i tend to have big, thick, hard cover books
11:49 PM roycroft: i do have lots of small paperback fiction books, but none of those were moved today
11:52 PM roycroft: my back is pretty sore, which hasn't happened in a while
11:54 PM roycroft: i guess it's helping get me in shape for the roofing job
11:55 PM roycroft: the evacuation zone by the fire has been downgraded from level 3 (go now) to level 2 (be prepared to go)
11:55 PM roycroft: and the fire has been contained, and is down to 25 acres, from 35 yesterday
11:56 PM roycroft: i could not smell the smoke when i was working on the bookcases outside today, although i could smell it when i left this morning to get them
11:57 PM roycroft: aqi is 31 right now, which i'll take
11:58 PM xxcoder: definitely livabl
