09:30 AM roycroft: happy canadia day!
10:21 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> they are not ripe yet
10:21 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/nUZobwNCvhSp3YC17
10:24 AM roycroft: i am bramble-free at my new house
10:24 AM roycroft: after 27 years of constant struggle to keep them under control at the old house
10:24 AM roycroft: and it is hot already, even this early in the morning
10:45 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> this is in the forest.. so - other than mowing a trail - they can do what they want.
10:48 AM Tom_L: do you get poison ivy or oak out there?
10:49 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> both
10:49 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> although I have never had an issue. Knock on wood
10:55 AM roycroft: the fair site is full of poison oak
10:55 AM roycroft: but i did not run into it when i lived in eugene, nor up here
11:14 AM pcw--home: We used to have poison oak/blackberries in our backyard, but the sheep ate it all...
11:31 AM roycroft: goats are good for that as well
11:31 AM roycroft: nature's lawn mowers
11:32 AM roycroft: my new internet radio should be delivered today - i hope it works better than the last one
11:33 AM roycroft: it's the same brand as my other two, and they work great
11:33 AM * roycroft is looking forward to good tunes in the shop
11:43 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Someone told me sheep eat as much crap as goats and are easier to keep in
11:43 AM roycroft: they do act rather sheepishly
11:44 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Lol .
11:45 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Funny story - when I was a kid - ginseng was popular.. we went looking and dad thought he found some. Sent it off to the university extension office. It was poison oak.
11:47 AM Tom_L: don't ivy and oak have 3 leaf clusters?
11:49 AM pcw--home: Yeah, we chose sheep as they don't climb like goats.
11:50 AM roycroft: there's a lot of ginseng that is harvested in wisconsin
11:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Yes.. but I don't know if I have ever seen it here .
11:52 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (but that was BE... Before Internet)
11:52 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Lol
11:52 AM roycroft: i don't think i'd mistake ginseng for poison oak, though
11:52 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> BI
11:52 AM roycroft: poison oak has oak-like (lobed) leaves
11:53 AM roycroft: ginseng leaves, while similarly shaped, are not at all lobed
11:53 AM roycroft: they look a little like ash leaves
12:28 PM xxcoder: lovely when I wake up half cooked
12:33 PM roycroft: yeah, it's that time of year when it's not only hot during the day, it doesn't cool off at night
12:34 PM xxcoder: I bought in fan so I have had fan blowing on me all night. made it possible for me to sleep
12:35 PM roycroft: i'm grateful that i have a heat pump that provides cooling almost for free
12:36 PM roycroft: but it's still a bit of a shock to wake up in the morning, step outside, and feel the heat immediately
12:36 PM roycroft: and we have a routine here where when i get up in the morning, i open the drapes in the living room and open one of the windows behind the drapes
12:37 PM roycroft: my cats like it and expect it - they jump up and check out the fresh air and talk to the birds
12:37 PM roycroft: it's getting to where if i do that the house starts heating up quickly, so i'm going to have to ditch that routine for the summer soon
12:38 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> You need a catio..
12:45 PM roycroft: i plan on enclosing my front porch eventually
12:45 PM roycroft: when i do that they can hang out on the porch
02:49 PM roycroft: yay! my new internet radio has arrived!
02:50 PM roycroft: hopefully it will work better in the shop than the one i am returning did
02:50 PM roycroft: i think it will, because it's the same brand and a similar model to what i'm using in the house, and i took one of the house internet radios out to the shop and it works flawlessly there
02:51 PM roycroft: but one never knows until one does the actual deployment
02:51 PM Tom_L: you can always swap them
02:51 PM Tom_L: move the house one out and keep the new one there
02:51 PM roycroft: i have no reason to believe that the one i'm returning would work any better in the house
02:52 PM roycroft: it's going back, as a replacement has arrived
02:52 PM roycroft: the ones i like are made by ocean digital, btw, in case anyone is interested in an internet radio
03:12 PM roycroft: a new remote is on its way
03:16 PM Tom_L: you broke it already?
03:31 PM roycroft: it was defective
03:31 PM roycroft: one of the springy contact things in the battery compartment is missing, so no juice to the remote
03:31 PM roycroft: i'm using a remote from a different radio for now
04:59 PM JT-Shop: https://ibb.co/9kDTHbWk
05:51 PM xxcoder: nice and cool 92f here
05:52 PM JT-Shop: 89°F here and a low of 66°F so a nice cool morning for a ride
05:52 PM xxcoder: tomorrow should be cooler for few days. then tues its back to hot
06:50 PM roycroft: did your fridge ever get fixed, jt-shop?
06:50 PM * roycroft just spent some time in the shop working on the controller cabinet, and the new radio did not drop out/rebuffer once
08:31 PM roycroft: it's dèjá vu night on star trek
08:31 PM roycroft: and i have an eerie feeling i've seen this episode before
08:33 PM xxcoder: is it timeloop one
08:39 PM roycroft: it is
08:39 PM xxcoder: is it timeloop one
08:40 PM roycroft: it is
08:40 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Replace a trailer light that I clipped with the mower.. (sisters trailer)
08:41 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I didn't miss it by || much
08:41 PM xxcoder: is3 it3 timeloop3 one3?
08:46 PM xxcoder: skunjk it sucks when some minor impact breaks
08:52 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I hit it hard enough
09:00 PM roycroft: the enterprise crew are idiots
09:00 PM roycroft: they keep seeing the number 3, and cannot figure out the significance of it
09:00 PM roycroft: when it is obvious
09:01 PM roycroft: three shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three
09:01 PM xxcoder: 😂
09:01 PM roycroft: four shalt they not count, neither shalt they count two, excepting that they proceed to three
09:01 PM roycroft: five is right out
09:05 PM xxcoder: dunno, 3 is pretty amgious, it was olvious only at very end context
09:43 PM _unreal_: kill me. sooo tired of moving all by my self. I need my daughter helping so badly.
09:43 PM roycroft: welcome to my world
09:44 PM roycroft: i had helpers for the heavy stuff (most of it), but i did most of my move myself
09:45 PM xxcoder: finally gettimg past heat peak
09:45 PM roycroft: yeah, we're past that here
09:45 PM xxcoder: temp is down to 87f now
09:45 PM roycroft: and it's going to cool off for a few days
10:23 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I am starting to build a tree house for the kids - I wanted something like adjustable struts... I looked at Heim Joints but they are expensive. I was walking up the driveway and saw the top link on the 3 point hitch.. I can get them at the local farm and barn for $39.. I can cut them in 2 and weld a length of pipe between
