07:16 AM Deejay: hi
09:13 AM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
09:49 AM _unreal_: sucks how baddly out of order I am in regards to the storage units. I really wish I could have put things away in a better organized fashion. Since I was force rushed and intentionally given no notice with intent by my family regarding the sale of are late fathers house. I'm having a hard time because stuff I need "tools and storage shelfs and so on" are at the back and everyhting to go on them is in front. I'm litterally stuck
09:49 AM _unreal_: backwards.
09:49 AM _unreal_: very upsetting
09:50 AM _unreal_: also every person so far who has promissed to help me move has canceled on me at the last second.
09:50 AM Tom_L: add a door to the rear
09:51 AM _unreal_: I dont think the self storage place would like that. besides cement walls
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> The diff lock does work on the mower now... But it doesn't help that much..
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Surprisingly
09:51 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Maybe I need chains 😉
09:52 AM _unreal_: skunk one of the projects I'm wanting to get to is my lawn tractor.
09:52 AM _unreal_: Was working. not any more and dont know what the issue is.
09:52 AM _unreal_: but like everything else its at the back of the storage unit.
09:53 AM Tom_L: rent another unit beside it and reverse everything
09:53 AM _unreal_: I'm also drowning in excess stuff I need to get rid of
09:53 AM Tom_L: then close out the rent on the 1st one
09:53 AM _unreal_: I already have 2 30' units
09:53 AM _unreal_: the problem is most of the stuff is 2 person stuff
09:54 AM _unreal_: I cant do anything
09:54 AM _unreal_: and my daughter is with her mother for the summer.
09:54 AM * Tom_L is glad he has boys
09:54 AM _unreal_: sigh and pleading to come home
09:54 AM Tom_L: i bet
09:54 AM Tom_L: knowing what i do about the history
09:55 AM _unreal_: my x has 5 kids now and all 5 have different fathers. are daughter is the eldest. take a wild guess what my daughters job is..
09:56 AM Tom_L: while x works on 6?
09:56 AM _unreal_: wouldnt supprise me
09:56 AM _unreal_: hence I have primary custody
09:57 AM _unreal_: I'm dying to get my big cnc machine to the house
09:57 AM _unreal_: but its going to take 2 maybe 3 people
09:57 AM _unreal_: the worst of it is just having to pick it up and turn it sideways.
09:58 AM _unreal_: to "roll" it through the door ways
09:59 AM _unreal_: I'm not even 100% sure how I'm going to get the couch in
10:00 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:00 AM _unreal_: but again an other one of those 2 people jobs
10:00 AM _unreal_: and no one can help me :(
10:01 AM _unreal_: hehe its amazing I've got no tv stand because I got rid of it. I've got 2 wall mount tv stands. but burried
10:02 AM _unreal_: I've got tons of attack storage from the looks of it and there are boards down too. BUT there is no attack access stairs and my ladders are in the back of the storage unit
10:02 AM _unreal_: LOL
10:02 AM _unreal_: just everything is backwards.
10:02 AM _unreal_: I do have my big ladder at the house BUT! the gurage ceiling is 8'5" ish and that ladder is 16'
10:03 AM _unreal_: sigh
10:03 AM _unreal_: a frame
10:03 AM _unreal_: I just cant wait
10:03 AM _unreal_: win
10:04 AM _unreal_: I've got great access for running a network though. so one thing is for sure I'll be setting up a full house wired network
10:04 AM _unreal_: question. will cat5e work fine for standard streaming?
10:04 AM Tom_L: why not wifi with repeaters?
10:04 AM Tom_L: simpler to wire
10:04 AM _unreal_: prime/netflicks
10:04 AM _unreal_: no
10:04 AM _unreal_: heh
10:05 AM Tom_L: i have 5 runing wifi on those
10:05 AM _unreal_: there is a TON of wifi
10:05 AM _unreal_: I get a list of about 45 devices
10:05 AM _unreal_: too much besides I'd rather have a nice hard line
10:07 AM _unreal_: sweet. google says cat5e will do just fine.
10:07 AM Tom_L: cat6
10:07 AM Tom_L: future plans
10:07 AM _unreal_: I've got an entire spool of cat5e
10:07 AM Tom_L: so do i
10:08 AM Tom_L: i ran it to the garage and have a wifi repeater out there for some things
10:08 AM _unreal_: I'd like to just get the latest and greatest but I dont want to spend the money I've already spent $100k since feb
10:08 AM Tom_L: not everything
10:08 AM Tom_L: it should be fine
10:09 AM _unreal_: I've got an outdoor WIFI POE repeater/hotspot IP68 rated. I'll maybe setup that for back yard
10:10 AM _unreal_: also got all of the security camera stuff i'mg oing to setup
10:10 AM Tom_L: be sure to give the neighbors access
10:10 AM _unreal_: @#$%@#$ I need to get a good computer chair. I'm on a metal chiar with a pillow and its just not tall enough for this desk. In fact my knees are a touch higher then my hips
10:11 AM _unreal_: sigh
10:11 AM _unreal_: will see
10:11 AM JT-Cave: pcw---home, is the third example backwards here https://forum.linuxcnc.org/configuration-tools/52987-mesa-configuration-tool?start=40#322089
10:11 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> a bad desk chair will ruin your back
10:12 AM _unreal_: Tom_L, msg
10:12 AM JT-Cave: hopefully we can stay on topic for a bit so I can get a clarification on this emc problem
10:13 AM JT-Cave: xxxx.output_sink = 65280 =0xFF00
10:13 AM JT-Cave: xxxx.output_source = 255 = 0x00FF
10:13 AM JT-Cave: = outputs 0..7 are sourcing mode, outputs 8..15 are sinking mode
10:13 AM JT-Cave: the outputs seem backward to me 0..7 sink and 8..15 source?
10:15 AM _unreal_: JT-Cave, I dont know which motors I want to use but I'm planning on converting my metal endmill to cnc. not sure if I want to go with bldc, dc servo, stepper
10:18 AM pcw---home: No, that's correct 0x00FF means bits 0..7 are '1' so xxxx.output_source = 255 = 0x00FF means bits 0..7 are sourcing
10:25 AM _unreal_: later
10:27 AM JT-Cave: is output_sink correct?
10:29 AM pcw---home: yes, 0xFF00 is bits 8..15 = 1
10:32 AM JT-Cave: hmm something is wrong with my code... it comes out backwards for that example but correct for the other examples...
10:32 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> rpi4 runs the monarch just fine. No suprise.
10:32 AM pcw---home: so xxxx.output_sink = 65280 =0xFF00 means bit 8..15 are sinking
10:33 AM pcw---home: The other examples are all bits so not byte order dependent
10:34 AM JT-Cave: byte order must be my problem
10:36 AM JT-Cave: so 65280 = 0xFF00 = 1111111100000000 and not 0000000011111111?
10:41 AM JT-Cave: got it I had to build my binary string from back to front and now it comes out correct
10:41 AM JT-Cave: sink 1111111100000000 int 65280 hex 0xFF00
10:41 AM JT-Cave: source 0000000011111111 int 255 hex 0x00FF
10:41 AM JT-Cave: # Outputs
10:41 AM JT-Cave: setp hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output_sink 0xFF00
10:41 AM JT-Cave: setp hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.output_source 0x00FF
10:42 AM JT-Cave: outputs 0..7 are sourcing mode, outputs 8..15 are sinking mode
10:42 AM JT-Cave: https://ibb.co/1Y4KPfvR
10:51 AM pcw---home: Yep that's right (theres a 1:1 correspondence with the mask bit number and output bit name)
10:54 AM pcw---home: That looks great.
11:01 AM JT-Shop: thanks
12:00 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/QKfDBP2yXVHvVD5T6
12:23 PM Tom_L: there's a bucket in a hole
12:25 PM Tom_L: dig out a bit and use the bucket as a 'crete form
01:10 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420@> isnt that small for a house sump?
01:18 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Time will tell? Says it should pump 2500 gallons per hour
01:20 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Filling that area about 4 inches thick probably took a minute during the heavy rain fall
01:20 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I get to find out if dad put a 1 way valve at the other pump.
01:45 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Lol . It empties that 5 gallon bucket in a few seconds
01:48 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/NUSmkeDugtX7yKpZ6
01:53 PM Tom_L: my niece's rental has a sump hole smaller than that they have the washer plumbed to it with a small pump and it seems to keep up
01:55 PM Tom_L: the pump barely fits in it
01:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> dad didn't put any sort of sump bucket in the other hole.. I am afraid to look how far the dirt/clay has undercut the floor...
02:00 PM Tom_L: heh
02:01 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> so - I might make the hole big enough for a bucket and then try to fill dirt back around it.. Maybr
02:01 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> maybe
02:02 PM Tom_L: i was suggesting that but using a concrete slurry
02:02 PM Tom_L: or pack redimix in it and soak it
02:02 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yah - but I don't want to plug any alreay paths for the water to run
02:03 PM Tom_L: but that might defeat the purpose if it's ground water seepage
02:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (the water at that end was actually coming under the futtings..
02:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> footings
02:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I think I need some water.
02:04 PM Tom_L: when i had my basement dug they put in draintile around the perimeter
02:04 PM Tom_L: i've never seen any water in the sump
02:04 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/house/8.jpg
02:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yes - I would love to dig up around the house/studio and re-do the drain and re-seal the wall... but it is 2 stories worth - probably a good 16 ft at the deepest
02:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> neat - is it usable space now?
02:05 PM Tom_L: i'm there right now
02:05 PM Tom_L: finished
02:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> nice!
02:06 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/house/11.jpg
02:06 PM Tom_L: you can see the original block foundation
02:06 PM Tom_L: they pinned into it and poured just inside it with posts under the old every 6' or so
02:06 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I should ask the neighbor if the house I built has ever had water in the basement.. I used the square pvc drain tile around the footings - in and out iirc
02:07 PM Tom_L: but the soil is nearly perfect here
02:07 PM Tom_L: topsoil and sand below that
02:07 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> sandy?
02:07 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> yah - we have mostly clay
02:07 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> then sand stone
02:07 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/house/9.jpg
02:07 PM Tom_L: you can kinda see the layers there
02:08 PM Tom_L: E of the river here turns to clay, W is good where i am
02:08 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> right - the other house is a block away from the mississippi...
02:09 PM Tom_L: the niece's problem was the 2" line going into a 4" with no cleanout until i kept on them and they dug and found this:
02:09 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/house/Pipe_problem.jpg
02:09 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/temp/house/Pipe_solution.jpg
02:10 PM Tom_L: the 4" was FULL of roots
02:10 PM Tom_L: no way to clean it out
02:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> which direction is the flow? small to bigh I hope?
02:10 PM Tom_L: and they got the 2" auger stuck and had to cut it it was so packed
02:10 PM Tom_L: yes
02:10 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> oh good
02:10 PM Tom_L: good now
02:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> neat.. Dad put 4 inch for all the drains under the basement to the septic..
02:11 PM Tom_L: it would plug back up as soon as they left because they couldn't clean out the 4" at all
02:11 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> and thank god it is pvc and not cast.
02:12 PM Tom_L: you'd think it would be tied all under the house but no... there were 2 4" lines going in
02:12 PM Tom_L: or almost in
02:13 PM Tom_L: i changed all mine out when i did the basement
02:13 PM Tom_L: plumbing as well
02:13 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> awesome.
02:14 PM Tom_L: that was a good 25-30 yrs ago now
02:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> lol.. time flies
02:15 PM Tom_L: i noticed that looking at how your kids have grown
02:27 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> For me - it hasn't been too bad. It hasn't bee super fast - which has been good. (but being the main parent helps probably)
02:28 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> even covid lockdown was good - the kid did school from home and I was there.
02:29 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have no regrets so far as that goes.
02:36 PM Tom_L: nor I, both ours turned out hopefully better than us
04:02 PM xxcoder: ugh. bad combo today. very sunny hot, and extremely strong winds mean I cant use awnings to keep home cooler
06:00 PM roycroft: it also means any fires will get a lot bigger today
06:00 PM * roycroft has not checked the fire map in a couple days, and figures he should do so
06:03 PM roycroft: nothing major at this time
06:04 PM roycroft: and not even any small ones near me
07:29 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> well - part of the problem might have been the down spout on the front of the house was plugged for about a 4 ft distance..
07:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I was grilling outside and it was lightly raining - I see water coming out of one of the joints...
07:30 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> (so the water was going up hill to come out)
07:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> going to have to check the back too
07:31 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> atleast for the studio
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I didn't notice it when it was pouring
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> but probably wasn't paying attention
07:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> basement is almost all dry
07:38 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> 💀 🪚 🧠
07:38 PM xxcoder: just had it, or will have tumor removed soon?
08:16 PM Tom_L: those don't cross to irc well
08:17 PM xxcoder: I can see those unicode emojis just fine
08:17 PM Tom_L: probably don't have hexchat set the same
08:17 PM xxcoder: maybe? I also use hexchat
08:18 PM xxcoder: its on linux which have excellent support though
08:18 PM Tom_L: this is windows
08:18 PM Tom_L: i use it both places though
08:19 PM _unreal_: sup
08:19 PM Tom_L: Arial Unicode MS,Segoe UI Emoji,Lucida Sans Unicode,Meiryo,Symbola,Unifont
08:19 PM Tom_L: is what i have
08:20 PM _unreal_: the BIG cnc machine is now in the office
08:20 PM _unreal_: what A PIA to get it into the office
08:25 PM _unreal_: ve7it, when I finish getting everything setup and moved from storage
08:25 PM _unreal_: I'll be re-visiting the ve7it servo system
08:25 PM _unreal_: FINALLY
08:25 PM _unreal_: FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
09:23 PM roycroft: is this office in your new house, _unreal_?
09:25 PM _unreal_: yes
09:25 PM _unreal_: I have a 3-2
09:25 PM _unreal_: so master, kids room and office
09:39 PM roycroft: nice
09:39 PM roycroft: i'm happy for you that you finally have the house and can move on with your life
09:49 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Heh, sorry
09:49 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> The sawing and drilling hasn't started yet
09:52 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> I'll see about LCNC docs being translated to emojis
09:57 PM roycroft: in linuxcnc-emoji speak, what does the eggplant mean?
09:57 PM roycroft: inquiring minds need to know this
09:58 PM xxcoder: dong
09:58 PM * roycroft got the inside pieces of the controller cabinet dyed and mostly finished today
09:58 PM roycroft: i need to do a light sanding, the one more coat of shellac, and that part will be done
09:59 PM roycroft: if i do that tomorrow at lunch time i can do the glue-up after work
09:59 PM roycroft: so probably by wednesday the controller cabinet will be done, and ready to start installing electronics
10:11 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> Wasn't that in a Beatles song?
10:12 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.@> I am the eggplant, I am the walrus
11:20 PM roycroft: the song actually goes
11:20 PM roycroft: hey diddle diddle/the cat and the fiddle
11:20 PM roycroft: piggy in the middle/doo-a-poo-poo
11:29 PM xxcoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1CP3ZSXDJo aircraft and aircraft quality wood apparently
11:56 PM roycroft: that person is annoying
11:56 PM xxcoder: yep. thats why I decided not to sub
