07:08 AM rdtsc-w: don't need to "meaningfully debug SPI" using a multimeter to determine if there is data there or not. 0.00v = nothing, 3.30v = nothing, anything else, especially if it changes when changing the expected data = data there
07:08 AM rdtsc-w: nobody is trying to debug spi - just detect if it is even there
07:15 AM rdtsc-w: if they wanted to debug spi, they have a Saleae anyways

07:53 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> FNIRSI 2C23T - killer 🙂
08:31 AM lcnc-relay: <zincboy_ca_on@> That is what I meant. You can't usually see if SPI is active or "there" with a multimeter. Unless there are continuous back to back transactions there is not enough of a voltage difference to tell if it is active or not. The noise floor on the digital lines is too high. What can work is a LED. They can have a fast enough response time to flash but a lower series resistance is needed to get the brightness up. Still I have seen...
08:31 AM lcnc-relay: ... people spend days trying to figure out SPI issues when 10min with scope solves it.
08:36 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> the Saleae (Logic-Analyzer) Clones are also very good, but the FNIRSI is generally a plus for any workshop, especially at this price and you don't have to have the computer on
08:39 AM bjorkintosh: alphabet soup schenzen electronics tools
08:39 AM bjorkintosh: asset
08:50 AM lcnc-relay: <zincboy_ca_on@> I had not heard of the FNIRSI units and the 2C53T looks great. I would go with the 50MHz unit for $14 more over the 10MHz. I might pick one up to add to my toolkit.

09:27 AM bjorkintosh: nice.
09:28 AM bjorkintosh: I did notice that as it gets to the bottom, wd40 fails to spray.
09:39 AM roycroft: i buy wd40 in gallon jugs and fill a hand pump sprayer
09:39 AM roycroft: it's too expensive to buy in aerosol cans
09:45 AM bjorkintosh: hmm.
09:45 AM bjorkintosh: maybe that's what I should do.
09:46 AM bjorkintosh: I use their other products too, like the lithium and the silicone.
09:51 AM * roycroft waits with bated breath to find out of _unreal_ is a homeowner or not
09:51 AM roycroft: i don't know if it is necessary, bjorkintosh, but wd40 make a squirt bottle to fill with their product
09:52 AM roycroft: i think the generic ones are almost entirely plastic, and probably are fine with the stuff
09:53 AM roycroft: iirc the one i have came bundled with a gallon can that i got a long, long time ago
09:53 AM roycroft: it has "wd40" printed on the side of the bottle in big letters, so there's no mistaking what it is, and it may be worth getting their bottle for that reason alone
09:55 AM roycroft: the squire bottle is $16, so maybe not worth it
02:18 PM _unreal_: AND.... home owner
02:32 PM rdtsc-w: contrats! let the fun begin :)
03:37 PM xxcoder: happy blustery day all
03:42 PM lcnc-relay: <voiditswarranty@> my saleae clones keep dying, I've since switched to an rp2040 (pi pico) with a logic analyzer firmware flashed to it, works pretty good for this purpose
08:04 PM _unreal_: well I'm still in the hotel tonight. but thats because I didnt have enough time to get what I needed out of storage. And worse the cleaning lady cleaned the floor by clearly just dumping floor soap on the ground. the smells are just over whelming
08:04 PM _unreal_: I'm going to have to mop all of the floors with just water. to cut down on the cleaning agent odors
