01:28 AM Deejay: moin
07:13 AM Tom_L: morning
07:20 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> moin
07:34 AM Deejay: moin
08:37 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> The estops on the k&t don't latch in... Designed in the 60's
08:54 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> my machine is stuck in e stop. how do i override that? nothing in my hal or ini references e stop. (i assume it needs something)
09:02 AM C3-Shop: raining pretty hard now
09:02 AM C3-Shop: yup estop needs something, how did you create your configuration?
09:03 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> i just copied the example on the forum
09:03 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> (which is of course missing 12000 steps)
09:03 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> 😛
09:06 AM C3-Shop: sounds like a robw example
09:06 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> hehe
09:06 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> posssssibly
09:07 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> no, from someone else
09:07 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> but still completely barebones
09:08 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> is there a quick non physical e stop method to add (basically the type that gets made by the pncconf wizard
09:08 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> i tried looking in those examples but im not sure whats what
09:09 AM JT-Cave: I don't use pnbcconf
09:09 AM JT-Cave: I did write mesact
09:10 AM JT-Cave: # estop logic
09:10 AM JT-Cave: net estop-out <= iocontrol.0.user-enable-out
09:10 AM JT-Cave: net estop-out => iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in
09:11 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> ahhh, i did see that. cool. will try now thanks
09:17 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> no change
09:17 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> hm
09:40 AM JT-Cave: if you want a simple working example install flex and from the menu copy flex examples
09:49 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> i didnt see flex mentioned anywhere in any menus.
09:50 AM JT-Cave: did you install flex gui?
09:50 AM JT-Cave: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/index.html
09:56 AM * JT-Cave dashes to the shop to keep making room for the lift
10:00 AM roycroft: i'm heading to the old shop in a few - we're getting my paint cart and media blaster today, amongst other things
10:00 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> i didnt insteal anything flex. im not even close to that part yet.
10:00 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> estop works now. i typod something
10:01 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> but now the servos howl. they _were_ tuned
10:01 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> hm
10:01 AM * roycroft is hoping to get everything he needs a helper to move today
10:04 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> i guess i should recheck the tuning before anythin else. maybe it didnt get saved or something
10:19 AM _unreal_: spending time looking into product lines I may want to pursue when I get my machines setup again..
10:20 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> cnc pizzq
10:20 AM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> * pizza
10:28 AM _unreal_: I'm looking at doing a lot of marble/stone. there is like nothing on YOUTUBE for DIY marble/stone cnc milling in the DIY
10:46 AM bjorkintosh: _unreal_: visit your nearest granite gravestone maker for further tips.
10:46 AM bjorkintosh: they do all that on a daily basis.
10:46 AM bjorkintosh: *headstone.
10:48 AM _unreal_: ahh no
10:48 AM _unreal_: I'm looking at making things like custom drink coasters. inlays. garden/entryway stone engravings etc..
10:48 AM _unreal_: $ makers
10:48 AM _unreal_: all custom
12:02 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> drink coasters are a super saturated market
12:11 PM bjorkintosh: true littleshopofrandom. however, he may have customers who specifically want to give him the job.
01:13 PM JT-Cave: rain is finally moving out
01:41 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/RTAI_TEST/RTAI-5.4.290.png
01:41 PM Tom_L: latest RTAI
02:14 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> Yay i has motion. still need to tweak the y axis tuning. the howling was from my X which had super high gain which works in the tuning software, but i guess isnt happy in position control. it still tracks within 3 microns (at the motor, the machine is obviously not that precise).
02:15 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> the omron tuning software trial exprired though. thats silly.
02:28 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> So after i tweak all this stuff and set up IO. and then modbus spindle control. Is that easier? I havent really looked at it yet.
03:09 PM _unreal_: just got back. took my daughter to the zoo
03:09 PM _unreal_: tired oof being inside
04:08 PM Unterhaus__ is now known as unterhausen
04:08 PM unterhausen: I just noticed one of our big trees split in half. It's resting on our neighbor's dead tree.
04:08 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> who gets the leaves in the divorce?
04:08 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> neighbours tree broke last year. 40 ft long 12" diam branch. it was no fun
04:13 PM unterhausen: I don't think hemlock makes for good firewood
04:14 PM unterhausen: we got rid of 40 hemlocks this year, they were all dying. We kept these two, and it looks like one is a goner
04:15 PM xxcoder: in least its not that horrible invasive trees. ones that smell awful in spring. I cant smell it, but yeah its awful for others. here its not too bad invaded species, but some places its everywhere
04:19 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> hemlock can be made into poison... useless bit of trivia...
04:29 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/FR1Wc3ix9S3EkGAs7
04:33 PM Tom_dev: tractor wars?
04:33 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> The nice suprise that the starter isn't working...
04:34 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> and one of the bolts for the starter you can only get from under.
04:34 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> it did not like lifting the bucket
04:37 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> man, i really gotta get back into my machine... one of these days. i miss it.
04:39 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> lack of money, and energy (from depression and severe sleep apnea) have really held me back a lot...:-(
04:41 PM bjorkintosh: lack of money is the root of all evil.
04:41 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> very true
04:41 PM xxcoder: sounds like you need cpap
04:41 PM bjorkintosh: sorry to hear that travis_farmer.
04:42 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> one is on order, when medicaid passes the prior-auth
04:42 PM xxcoder: thats good. it was pretty life changing for me
04:43 PM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> i sleep with my mouth open, so i will probably have to have a full-face
05:01 PM roycroft: hi folks
05:02 PM roycroft: we did not get as much done today as i had hoped, and my back is hurting, so no more trips today
05:02 PM xxcoder: 👋
05:02 PM roycroft: but we still reached a milestone - everything i need to move that i cannot move by myself has been moved here
05:02 PM roycroft: i can do all the rest on my own
05:02 PM roycroft: my blasting cabinet, with extractor, and my paint cart are here, as well as the two heavy grinders
05:03 PM * roycroft is pretty happy about that
05:03 PM roycroft: it was by no means as full a pickup load as i could have made, but it was easy to load and i did fill the entire bed
05:08 PM xxcoder: progress is progress
05:09 PM * JT-Shop didn't make much progress making room for the lift today
05:18 PM roycroft: i hope my media blaster can tolerate sitting outside for a while
05:18 PM roycroft: i'll have it up on blocks so it won't be in contact with the ground, and i'll put a tarp over it so it won't get wet
05:18 PM roycroft: but it will still be in the outside humidity
05:18 PM roycroft: which fortunately will be really low starting in a couple weeks
05:19 PM roycroft: until fall
05:19 PM xxcoder: maybe put some plastic between tarp and blaster
05:19 PM xxcoder: so tarp isnt directly resting on case, or in least more untouched areas sp it can keep dry
05:21 PM roycroft: i'm talking about a fiberglass tarp
05:21 PM roycroft: but your point is good
05:21 PM roycroft: i may build a little spacer frame with some 2x2s to hold the tarp off the cabinet
05:21 PM roycroft: that little bit of airflow may help a lot
05:22 PM roycroft: it's dew/condensation that is the worry, not rain
05:22 PM xxcoder: indeed
05:22 PM roycroft: and creating some air flow would help prevent that
05:22 PM roycroft: and it just so happens that there are a bunch of 2x2s at the old place that i was going to toss in the dump pile because i want the hangers they are on
05:23 PM roycroft: i can just toss some in my pickup instead
05:24 PM roycroft: my old futon sofa had some storage drawers below it where i stored extra blankets/pillows
05:24 PM roycroft: those have no home now
05:24 PM roycroft: but i have an antique steamer trunk that's been in storage ever since i moved to eugene 32 years ago that i brought up here today
05:25 PM roycroft: i'm going to clean it up and i can use it as a temporary coffee table in my living room, and store the blankets and pillows in it
05:25 PM roycroft: i just never had room for it at the hold house
05:25 PM roycroft: there were mouse droppings all over the top of it, so i need to clean it up and sanitize it before bringing it into the house, but it will be nice to have that again
05:26 PM roycroft: my friend who helps me with moving commented today that the house is much more organized and tidy that it's been, so i guess my efforts to finally move in have been noticed
05:26 PM roycroft: but there's still a lot of stuff to do
05:28 PM roycroft: if my back feels better soon i might work on that today
05:28 PM roycroft: otherwise i'll keep doing the cad work for the fan vent cutouts on the minirouter controller
05:28 PM roycroft: i want to start doing some test cuts on that asap
06:25 PM rdtsc: https://paste.debian.net/1376573/
06:25 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> Belly pan off... Need to find my metric swivel sockets
06:37 PM * roycroft is chillin' on the recliner hoping his back feels better soon
06:53 PM _unreal_: tazz hate water. I hate waiting for new home
06:53 PM _unreal_: sigh
07:33 PM _unreal_: MMMMmmmm watermellon
08:03 PM xxcoder: steak fries with garlic salt japeleno, with dips of that green sauce, ketchup with little sraracha mixed in
08:03 PM xxcoder: yum
08:04 PM xxcoder: simple airfryer cook
08:08 PM _unreal_: letting (making) the kid cook tonight. suprise suprise she's making mac/cheese
08:14 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> https://youtu.be/0q-ipbeLYBg
08:15 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> welll.. thats fun
08:15 PM lcnc-relay: <littleshopofrandom@> :x
08:17 PM roycroft: i'm having leftover pizza tonight, which seems to be my usual sunday dinner
08:18 PM roycroft: and given how sore and unenergetic i am tonight, it's a good choice
08:22 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> https://photos.app.goo.gl/U3ZiK98C8Wm23zF46
08:24 PM roycroft: that does not look new, skunkworks8841
08:25 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> nope - just out of the loader
08:26 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> have to do a little disassembly - it doesn't want to spin and the solenoid doesn't want to pull in.
08:26 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> had to pull the skid plate from under it. I am old.
08:31 PM xxcoder: wow this is advanced drill bit https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/749283134893457459/1376369340928229558/cursed_drill_bit.png?ex=68351356&is=6833c1d6&hm=673fed6a98811b50021036993e47771a5bf44ec2e3ee19f4d8ccc82668bc830e&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=616&height=557
08:50 PM * roycroft wonders why he's suddenly getting potty training ads on teh youtube
08:50 PM xxcoder: wow thats pretty poppy of yt
08:50 PM roycroft: i think they have missed the demographic again
08:52 PM xxcoder: yeah too late or too early lol
08:52 PM xxcoder: lovely wesley treat today
08:55 PM Tom_L: xxcoder, at least they used a lefthand bit on one and right on the other
08:55 PM xxcoder: indeed
08:56 PM * Tom_L wonders what roycroft's cat watches while he's away
08:56 PM xxcoder: there is yt channels for cats
08:56 PM Tom_L: no doubt
08:57 PM roycroft: they watch birds when i'm away
08:57 PM Tom_L: nothing to do with potty training...
08:57 PM roycroft: fannie is a big star trek fan, when i am here and watching videos
08:57 PM roycroft: clara not so much
10:07 PM unreal: hum
10:07 PM unreal: internet seems a bit f'ed
11:31 PM tofohty7 is now known as tofohty
11:52 PM roycroft: xxcoder: the drum sander effect was fun
11:53 PM roycroft: i saw it coming when the conveyor on the inside feed and outside feed were running at different speeds, but was still fun, and a nicely done effect
11:54 PM xxcoder: remind me what video is that?
11:54 PM * roycroft has been lusting after a nice, wooden map cabinet for years and years, and even though he does not have room for one, would find a way to make the room if he got one
11:54 PM roycroft: wesley treat
11:54 PM xxcoder: oh yes! yeah that was funny
11:55 PM xxcoder: large format paper drawers must be quite rare
11:55 PM xxcoder: wesley plans to sell that one but probaly would be expensive
11:56 PM roycroft: shipping would cost more than i would want to pay for the whole thing
11:56 PM xxcoder: ah yes. even pickup would cost
11:57 PM xxcoder: unless youre lucky and live near him, but I dont think you do
11:57 PM roycroft: i don't know where he's located
11:57 PM roycroft: but it's raining in this video
11:57 PM roycroft: so it could be in our part of the world
11:57 PM xxcoder: yeah, though across years I guess he lives at more extreme weather
11:58 PM xxcoder: hotter, and colder
11:58 PM roycroft: oh, there was just thunder
11:58 PM roycroft: so i guess he doesn't live around here
11:58 PM xxcoder: definitely rare here lol
