02:16 AM Deejay: moin
02:45 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> https://cserver1.multixmedia.org/hdrive.jpg
02:45 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> 😍
02:46 AM rifraf: meister nice, all working well?
02:47 AM rifraf: looks like a good reduction
02:49 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> used but looks ok 1:100 - had a good price 🙂 40Euro
02:51 AM rifraf: price is right, no motor?
02:52 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> only this parts
02:53 AM rifraf: have you looked into cycloidal drives?
02:54 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> I only want to have harmonic drives 🙂
02:54 AM rifraf: did quite a bit with prototyping diy designs, a good alternative you can repeat as required, hard to get a good set of harmonics at decent price
02:54 AM rifraf: no worries, harmonic is shall be then
02:56 AM rifraf: you can throw me a few of your unwanted drives, need some legs
02:56 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> I have also tried various things,
02:56 AM lcnc-relay: also printed a lot, but nothing even comes close
02:57 AM rifraf: do love the commercial cycloidal drive i have, is made very well, all steel and bearing steel insides, aluminium casing
02:58 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> am always looking for something myself,
02:58 AM lcnc-relay: at aliexpress there are harmonic drives from 70 euro, for nema17, i will test them when i get the chance
02:59 AM rifraf: 2.2kw motor driving it, crushes plastic into little bits for injection molder
02:59 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> do you have a link
02:59 AM rifraf: i link to what?
02:59 AM rifraf: i would need to take photos
02:59 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> i never see commercial cycloidal drives
03:00 AM rifraf: ok to pull apart is not as quick, because machine assembled
03:00 AM rifraf: but i may have some images , will need to check
03:00 AM rifraf: will go take external image to start anyuway
03:01 AM rifraf: lol forget that, i left my phone at work
03:01 AM rifraf: remind me tomorrow
03:01 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> https://www.ebay.de/itm/405477682955?chn=ps&_ul=DE&google_free_listing_action=view_item
03:02 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> found one, but the price is not in my range 🙂
03:02 AM rifraf: yep this is nice and chucky inside compared to the 3d printed ones
03:02 AM rifraf: easy to diy
03:03 AM rifraf: i made metal ones getting the discs laser cut as well, bit of filing but the aluminium discs were better than plastic
03:17 AM * rifraf unboxing new AC servo, ordered only on tuesday or wed and already here
03:22 AM rifraf: cannot not believe i have no photos of plastic crusher, guess i was not talkin to anyone when i made it
03:33 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> Hey guys.
03:33 AM lcnc-relay: Could you please help me with seeting up my 7i95T.
03:33 AM lcnc-relay: Cant even ping it in my cmd...
03:34 AM rifraf: can you ping yourself?
03:35 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> jup
03:35 AM rifraf: on same subnet i mean, and you obviously knows its IP addy. i no nothing of 7i95T but sounds like you have ethernet ussue?
03:37 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> Sorry. But could you answer me this question: which is the IPv4 and which is the IPv6?
03:38 AM rifraf: hrm, am oldschool but would always use IPv4 still, do you have any diagrams or links to show this
03:40 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> What could i show you to help you understand my problem?
03:45 AM rifraf: the 7i95T manual? found an image ok
03:46 AM rifraf: no worries, found manual..
03:47 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> This would be my Hardware setup. Thats everything i could really shwo you:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L7vbSDR4NENrZ3gRGAv7EEmyDiPi4UIS?usp=sharing
03:47 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> * show
03:47 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> * you: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L7vbSDR4NENrZ3gRGAv7EEmyDiPi4UIS?usp=sharing
03:49 AM rifraf: issue is you cannot connect? whats your internal ip?
03:49 AM rifraf: and is the address you cannot ping 192.168.1.121
03:51 AM rifraf: and btw, cannot access either of your links
03:52 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: I tried that and tried to change the Ip to 10.10.10.10
03:52 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> neither pinged
03:52 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> even with jumpers in the right spots
03:52 AM rifraf: answer my questions :)
03:52 AM rifraf: issue is you cannot connect? whats your internal ip?
03:52 AM rifraf: and is the address you cannot ping 192.168.1.121
03:53 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: excactly
03:53 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: give me a sec. pls
03:54 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> 172.16.13.83
03:54 AM rifraf: looks more like an external ip
03:55 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> or do you need the D8:3A:DD:9F:8B:6C
03:55 AM rifraf: you should be on same subnet as 192.168.1.?
03:55 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> sorry for being so clueless
03:56 AM rifraf: your ip should start with at least 192.168.?.? depending on your subnet
03:56 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> yeah. thats how i know it to. but it wont even let me "ipconfig /all"
03:57 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ipconfig is a windows command
03:57 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MfZn5EE7csa5HwQKGLObIWuurQUTMN-x/view?usp=sharing
03:57 AM rifraf: hrm, odd ipconfig should tell you
03:57 AM rifraf: well yes, you on linus?
03:57 AM rifraf: linux*
03:57 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> try ifconfig as root
03:57 AM rifraf: of course you are, lol, this is linuxcnc
03:57 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> or: ip a s
03:58 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> meisterdippel@: this gave me somwthing
03:58 AM * rifraf switches to linux mode
03:58 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> but not a 192.
03:58 AM rifraf: well then you need to change your ip for a start
03:58 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> can you open the drive link now?
03:59 AM rifraf: you link looks like cool bunch of steppers
03:59 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> perfect
04:00 AM rifraf: so wat other ip do you see? something like 10.10?
04:00 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: just uploaded this
04:00 AM rifraf: with ifconfig
04:00 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> look at the 2: interface
04:01 AM rifraf: sorry i must have missed something, only see the stepper and driver setup image
04:02 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> should be there
04:02 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> it outputs: "2: eth0: ..."
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> but no 192.
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> sudo -s
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: apt-get install net-tools
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: ifconfig eth0:1 10.10.10.1
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: ping 10.10.10.100
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> do you have wlan configured ?
04:03 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> meisterdippel@: jup
04:04 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ok, than type this commands i post
04:04 AM rifraf: well you need to change it then, to 192.168.1.10 for example, should be unusewed
04:04 AM rifraf: meister will show you how :)
04:05 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> meisterdippel@: now its pinging 10.10.10.1
04:06 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> google say, 10.10.10.100 is the default ip of the mesa card, 'apt-get install net-tools' will install ifconfig (easier than ip command), ifconfig eth0:1 10.10.10.1
04:06 AM lcnc-relay: will set the eth0 interface to 10.10.10.1 (same net as mesa) and ping, you know 🙂
04:06 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ping 10.10.10.100
04:06 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> no the .1 , that you rpi
04:07 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> * not
04:07 AM rifraf: ok i must be wrong, the manual i found said default ip is 192.168.1.121
04:07 AM rifraf: will get screen shot
04:08 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ok, i don't know, i ask google 🙂 no problem
04:08 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ifconfig eth0:1 192.168.1.1
04:08 AM lcnc-relay: ping 192.168.1.121
04:08 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> its not pingin 10.10.10.100
04:08 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> * 192.168.1.10
04:10 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> meisterdippel@: also not pinging
04:10 AM rifraf: https://desire3d.com/images/public/7I95t.JPG
04:10 AM rifraf: am i barking up the wrong tree?
04:11 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> ill put the jumper into the old position again. thats probably the first problem
04:11 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L7vbSDR4NENrZ3gRGAv7EEmyDiPi4UIS?usp=sharing
04:11 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> this should acctualy work now
04:12 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> try: ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.10
04:13 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> (without :1)
04:13 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> than make ifconfig eth0 and check if the ip is shown
04:13 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> bash: ifconfig: command not found
04:13 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> apt-get install net-tools
04:15 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> he couldnt open lock file
04:15 AM rifraf: i dunno sudo ?
04:15 AM rifraf: you have installed linux but cannot change your ip? is very odd
04:16 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> are you root ?
04:16 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> sudo -s
04:16 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> not finding sudo-s
04:17 AM rifraf: lol, sorry i had a few drinks
04:17 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> the problem is, that im working over a work Wi-fi, with way to many restrictions...
04:17 AM rifraf: not a great start indeed
04:17 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> might be, that i dont have any rights?
04:18 AM rifraf: you need to be hardwired to troubleshoot dude
04:18 AM rifraf: otherwise could be anything
04:19 AM rifraf: and obviously now its your remote connection
04:19 AM rifraf: so you need to forward ports etc
04:20 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> i mean... i connected the pi and the mesa via an ethernet cable. isnt that hardwired?
04:21 AM rifraf: ok now a pi is involved as well, see the details help
04:22 AM rifraf: am gettin sleepy, is late down under, but at least we have a few clues now, good luck with it z3rni3
04:22 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: okay. sorry. I have a Pi, which is running LinuxCNC and a Mesa card 7i95T. Mesa and Pi are connected via an ehternet cale
04:23 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: TY. I should probably have a look into it furhter, to understand what you guys are trying to help me with!
04:23 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> Sorry for the hold-up
04:23 AM rifraf: yep thats cool, you have a few ideas to work on, report back with your success soon :)
04:24 AM rifraf: it will be your pis IP addy and watever you are connecting to it with
04:42 AM Tom_L: morning
04:46 AM rifraf: evenin dir
04:46 AM rifraf: er sir :)
04:47 AM rifraf: i hold the tequila responsible for my typing
04:49 AM rifraf: but holding z3rni3 for making the bottle get too close
04:53 AM Tom_L: https://www.gnipsel.com/linuxcnc-old/uspace/rpi4-eth.html
04:55 AM Tom_L: depending on the jumper the default ip is 192.168.1.121 or 10.10.10.10
04:55 AM Tom_L: default is the latter
04:55 AM Tom_L: former... sorry
04:56 AM Tom_L: the 192 addy
04:58 AM rifraf: yep, he should start with the default to trouble shoot
04:58 AM rifraf: can sleep better now
04:58 AM rifraf: after the banger sangas that is
05:01 AM rifraf: ate some good venison on the weekend, at least was better when we got to the top of the leg
05:02 AM rifraf: fresh from the bush
05:53 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> hey. i got it to work eventualy after realising my raspi wasnt defined correctly. Gave him a static IP adress and was able to connect with the Mesa. TY all for your help. allready have the next problem with the axis scale calculation with my 4 mm/rev Leadscrew. If i dont get that to work youll hear fromm me again!🤣
05:53 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> rifraf: Doing gods work!
05:54 AM lcnc-relay: <z3rni3@> * work!😉
06:59 AM lcnc-relay: <travis_farmer@> morning, supposed to get 4in of snow today 😦
08:10 AM JT-Cave: so far I've burned 400 gallons of propane this winter
08:10 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> I have gone through way more wood than last year. (last year was very mild)
08:11 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841@> this year has probably been more 'normal'
08:19 AM JT-Cave: burned a lot of wood here too keeping the garage and shops somewhat warm
08:19 AM JT-Cave: well I just make sure the garage stays above freezing
08:21 AM * JT-Cave wishes there was a PyQt programmer on here...
08:22 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> what ?
08:23 AM Tom_L: there is a #pyqt channel
08:25 AM JT-Cave: I've asked questions there before but no answers
08:27 AM * JT-Cave sees it's time to start his chicken day
08:30 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> What did you ask?
08:31 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> or what would you like to ask ?
08:55 AM JT-Cave: trying to figure out how pyqtProperties as a function works
08:56 AM JT-Cave: I find a few examples on the web but the don't show a real world example or explain much
08:58 AM JT-Cave: trying to understand how this works https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/master/lib/python/qtvcp/widgets/indicatorMixIn.py#L683
09:06 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ahh, that's the button with the LED in the corner !?!
09:06 AM lcnc-relay: i had seen the post in the forum
09:07 AM JT-Cave: yup
09:07 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> and you want such a button in flex ?
09:10 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> so first of all, I don't know either
09:24 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> @pyqtSlot(bool)
09:24 AM lcnc-relay: def setBlaa(self, opt):
09:24 AM lcnc-relay: print("blaa", opt)
09:24 AM lcnc-relay: def getBlaa(self):
09:24 AM lcnc-relay: ... long message truncated: https://jauriarts.org/_heisenbridge/media/jauriarts.org/qZqyKyHRvEhlqwmkWCFZnEod/XUX4fQWl0NQ (6 lines)
09:25 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> ok, you need to add 2 functions (read and write) and add at the end of your class the 'pyqtProperty' line
09:26 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> className.blaa = True .... will trigger 'setBlaa' and print(className.blaa) will trigger 'getBlaa' function
09:27 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> i think the decorator 'pyqtSlot' is not realy needed
09:41 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> https://cserver1.multixmedia.org/testme.py
10:05 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> updated with led button example
10:52 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel@> JT-Cave: in case you haven't seen it...
11:17 AM firephoto__ is now known as firephoto_
11:58 AM JT-Cave: just got home and looking at the code now and thanks for making it
12:11 PM xxcoder: seems someone sells mini cnc art peices on etsy lol https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1022072757044908043/1353687325414133850/image.png?ex=67e28f10&is=67e13d90&hm=bcf88c5cea5e1b829ca9db404886617160a7d47758eddf1905cf8631ac1709f8&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=784&height=933
12:13 PM xxcoder: it apparently isnt as full-motion as that video one, but also apparently much cheaper
02:09 PM Tom_L: led looks cool
07:18 PM lcnc-relay: <nkrid3r@> Hello everyone, I’m completely new to this world. I have experience with 3D printing, and I decided to get into milling just to make a few parts for my printers.
07:18 PM lcnc-relay: I bought this machine, which has been sitting unused for 10 years. In my opinion, it seems quite solid and is equipped with long-version NEMA 23 motors. The previous owner told me he used to run it with Mach3, but he no longer has anything set up and advised me to use a PC with LinuxCNC.
07:18 PM lcnc-relay: So far, I’ve installed LinuxCNC, and that part is done. Now comes the hard part… He doesn’t remember anything, and I find myself lost in a world I don’t know, with a ton of components to figure out.
07:18 PM lcnc-relay: Can anyone help me with the setup?
07:18 PM lcnc-relay: ... long message truncated: https://jauriarts.org/_heisenbridge/media/jauriarts.org/WhGPjiwkTDJneTDTfAJHVuac/GHXM7c4PRG8 (6 lines)
07:20 PM xxcoder: hopefully someone will be familiar with that, or in least help you get started :)
07:21 PM lcnc-relay: <nkrid3r@> I hope so😬😬😬
07:52 PM * roycroft is back from the old shop
07:52 PM roycroft: i moved my last workbench today
07:52 PM xxcoder: welcome back
07:53 PM roycroft: my cunning plan was to remove the top, load it, and load each of the side drawer units
07:53 PM roycroft: when i got there i discovered it was very well put-together, and it would take me hours to disassemble it enough to break it down like that and then reassemble it
07:53 PM roycroft: so it moved as one unit
07:54 PM roycroft: it was very hard to load it, as it needed two people and i am only one person
07:54 PM roycroft: well, more like 1/2 a person to 2/3 a person these days
07:54 PM roycroft: but some basic physics got me through the day
07:55 PM roycroft: now to unload it, which should be a wee bit easier
07:55 PM roycroft: all that's left that is big is my blasting cabinet and my old welding/fabrication table, which i don't have room for and will probably end up cutting up to repurpose the metal
07:56 PM Tom_L: nkrid3r, try to find some documentation for your stepper drivers for the step timing
07:56 PM Tom_L: as well as the vfd
07:57 PM roycroft: to the point here, from lcnc-relay person, i would start by diagramming the machine a completely as possible - the stepper motor wiring, driver wiring, vfd wiring, any limit switches, etc.
07:57 PM roycroft: and then collecting the specs on each component
07:57 PM Tom_L: https://www.automationtechnologiesinc.com/products-page/motion-controllers/kl-db25-breakout-board
07:57 PM xxcoder: thats good idea, even if dont plan to do any changes. thgose docs would be good.
07:58 PM Tom_L: seems to be the breakout board you have
07:58 PM roycroft: a good schematic of the machine side stuff will help a lot with figuring out how to make it work with new controller software
07:58 PM Tom_L: running from a parallel port it will be slower than if you used a mesa card
07:58 PM roycroft: yes, it's good to have that information at hand even with a working turnkey sysem
07:58 PM roycroft: it helps with troubleshooting immensely
07:59 PM * roycroft heads out with a refreshing beverage to unload the bench and find a place for it to live
07:59 PM Tom_L: i don't see that particular driver but http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Stepper_Drive_Timing are some general step timing for various drivers
08:00 PM roycroft: the really big news about the old place is that there is nothing left that will fit through the broken door window that i care about at all
08:00 PM roycroft: anything stolen from now on is just something i don't have to haul to the dump or recycling
08:00 PM Tom_L: setting up a config the first time can be a little intimidating
08:01 PM roycroft: baby steps with that
08:01 PM roycroft: you don't need homing or vfd control at first
08:01 PM lcnc-relay: <xxcoder@> nkrid3r@: there you go. 🙂 (ping to let you know)
08:01 PM roycroft: you just need to make the x, y, and z motors spin in the direction you want and at the rate you want
08:02 PM Tom_L: pncconfig may help you get started since it's a parallel port interface
08:02 PM * roycroft heads out into the beautiful sunny weather to wrestle the bench off the pickup
09:27 PM roycroft: i just had to turn the ac on
09:28 PM roycroft: it won't run for too long, but i'm surprised i need it this early in the year
09:28 PM xxcoder: it was warm all day here too, but no sun and rained most of times
09:28 PM xxcoder: 60f here now
09:29 PM roycroft: it's going to get even warmer tomorrow - we might hit 30c - but then the rain and seasonal temps will return on wednesday
09:29 PM roycroft: i'm off work tomorrow, and plan on some dump runs from the old place
09:30 PM roycroft: i got my bench unloaded and in its for now home, but i was too tired to level it, so i'll do that in the morning, and finish unloading the pickup before i head down to the valley
09:42 PM * roycroft is discovering that with old age, energy management is as important as time management, perhaps even moreso
