12:01 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> same here
12:14 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> and now solidworks is way cheaper with the maker licence
12:43 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> moin
01:02 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> somehow I can't get along with freecad
01:02 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> since I mainly do 2d, librecad is enough
03:04 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> it's friday the 13th. 🙂
03:10 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/HwfHIOIvGSZXkKCtwxYOorjy/cam.png
03:19 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> i have another idea 🙂 it should be possible to superimpose a gcode preview over the camera image
04:32 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:42 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:47 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, flexgui could use an an ignore limits checkbox
05:14 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> Hello
05:14 AM lcnc-relay: I would like to assign a Hal pin to a macro, do you have documentation or tutorial about this please?
05:23 AM Deejay: hi
05:30 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> hi
06:04 AM JT-Cave: hmm
06:24 AM pere: Still some work to do with translations on LinuxCNC, <URL: https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/linuxcnc/#languages > :)
06:39 AM JT-Cave: hmm
07:05 AM JT-Cave: Tom_L, I'm not seeing the jog off limit in axis... and not figuring out how to get power back on when a joint limit is true
07:11 AM JT-Cave: ah ha I found it
07:26 AM Tom_L: vibram
07:27 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:27 AM Tom_dev: vibram, http://paste.debian.net/1329267/
07:30 AM Tom_dev: if your using flexgui follow this: https://www.gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/flexgui/hal.html
07:31 AM Tom_L: and assign similar pins in postgui.hal
07:35 AM Tom_L: JT-Cave, in axis, that checkbox resets as soon as the jog is done
07:41 AM JT-Cave: should be working, it enables the check box if an error contains if 'limit switch error' in text:
07:42 AM JT-Cave: after jogging the check box is unchecked and disabled unless you're still sitting on the limit switch then it's enabled by the error
07:44 AM Tom_L: i'l check it out after bit
07:44 AM Tom_L: trying to figure all these # numbers in this ngc file
07:45 AM Tom_L: get an error G10 L1 offset out of range or some such thing
07:46 AM Tom_L: P out of range with G10 L1 but it shouldn't be
07:47 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:47 AM Tom_dev: Info
07:47 AM Tom_dev: offset -2.500000
07:47 AM Tom_dev: Info
07:47 AM Tom_dev: 5203 0.000000 5220 1.000000
07:47 AM Tom_dev: Info
07:47 AM Tom_dev: 5213 0.000000 5210 0.000000
07:49 AM Tom_L: ok it saved 2.5 to the tool table
07:49 AM Tom_L: -2.5
07:49 AM Tom_L: i need to check for tool 0 :)
07:50 AM Tom_L: duh
07:50 AM Tom_L: so 5400 > 0
07:50 AM Tom_L: so #5400 > 0
08:03 AM * JT-Cave starts his chicken day
08:10 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i think this is what you are looking for:
08:10 AM lcnc-relay: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/man/man1/halui.1.html#MDI%20(optional)
08:12 AM * rdtsc-wk invents a chicken-coop-cleaning robot. Beep-boop chicken-poop!
08:13 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> lol
08:13 AM mrec: is anyone experienced with cleaning larger CNC machines? the particular machine is old; the chip conveyor is directly connected with the coolant tank. Now the wires to the chip conveyor motor don't seem to be easy to detach - does anyone know how other machines implement that?
08:14 AM mrec: thus I cannot just slide out the coolant tank for cleaning..
08:19 AM lcnc-relay: <vibram> thanks a lot
08:33 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
08:33 AM Tom_L: ok i think it may be working
08:35 AM Tom_L: need some real world testing
08:37 AM JT-Cave: probing?
08:38 AM lcnc-relay: <bwnance> anybody familiar with the use of the Mitsubishi OBA17 encoders?
08:41 AM Tom_L: the tool offset probe one
08:41 AM Tom_L: moves xy to a probe location and probes the tool
08:42 AM Tom_L: set in the ini
08:42 AM Tom_L: still need to polish it a bit but it's working
08:42 AM Tom_L: updates the tool table
08:44 AM JT-Cave: cool
08:45 AM Tom_L: maybe not the fanciest probe routine but it does the job
08:59 AM mrec: bwnance: do you mean OSA17?
08:59 AM mrec: ah they really have OBA17
08:59 AM mrec: I have just ordered another osa104 encoder
09:03 AM * JT-Shop just looked at the vacuum can and mud dobbers have plugged up the holes lol
10:00 AM john__ is now known as JT-Auto-Shop
11:07 AM Tom_L: JT-Shop, PR #80 updated probe example
11:08 AM Tom_L: if you test, push the SET button 2x. first is a rough probe then it retracts and does a fine probe
11:09 AM Tom_L: read the readme
11:13 AM Tom_L: i haven't updated all of cradek's routines to read the ini yet
12:03 PM Rab: <rdtsc> FreeCAD 1.0.0RC1 is now available (no more topological naming problem!) https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-Bundle/releases/tag/1.0rc1
12:03 PM Rab: rdtsc_away, I'm excited, don't know about anyone else. ;)
12:05 PM xxcoder: if I recall there is still 7 remaining release blockers for 1.0
12:05 PM xxcoder: and yeah freecad is finally 1.0 soon!
12:06 PM Rab: They say they are hoping more will be found, if people are willing to test RC1.
12:14 PM Tom_L: dunno what RC1 is
12:14 PM xxcoder: release candite 1
12:15 PM Tom_L: mmm
12:16 PM Deejay: candidate
12:17 PM rdtsc-wk: <vibram> and now solidworks is way cheaper with the maker licence <-- it can change, bait-and-switch, like Fusion360... no thanks. FreeCAD is quirky, but will never have to worry about license suddenly costing 15x as much.
12:17 PM Tom_L: leave it to the german
12:17 PM xxcoder: yeah rug pullable licensing rdtsc
12:17 PM xxcoder: thats why I dont bother
12:24 PM Rab: $48/yr is pretty good, but I'm not interested in a subscription. Not sure if 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS® can store files locally, either, which would be a complete non-starter. No interoperation with pro or academic licensees, either.
12:24 PM Tom_L: iirc all the 3dexperience is web based
12:25 PM Rab: yeah
12:25 PM Tom_L: catia and sw
12:25 PM Tom_L: catia starting with v6
12:27 PM Rab: Also I'm not a "Maker". I want free interchange between fun projects, commercial products, and non-proprietary work designs.
01:54 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> as querky as freecad is - it does seem to get better and better. When I first tried it - it was not very usable
01:56 PM xxcoder: yeah. 0.30 was really messy and not usable
02:05 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> wow - started in 2002
02:13 PM rdtsc-wk: KiCAD was like that too; gradually got better and better
02:14 PM rdtsc-wk: I've donated to them several times - they deserve it.
02:16 PM rdtsc-wk: Hmm, any good solutions for an external Rpi4 antenna? Most U.Fl-connector WiFi antennas have <200mm cord length. Could make 30mm work (not ideal) - 2 or 3m would be good, but that might be impossible given the frequencies.
02:16 PM rdtsc-wk: er 300mm work
02:20 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> get a U.FL to SMA adaptor, run the SMA as long as you need to the antenna
02:21 PM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VGWusrDVHlg
02:21 PM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> better calibration and goto command 🙂
02:32 PM rdtsc-wk: Nice Meister! :)
02:36 PM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> https://multixmedia.org/camjog.py
02:36 PM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> thanks
03:33 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, dunno if you noticed but there's no images folder in that example now thanks to you
03:50 PM javabean_ is now known as JavaBean
04:11 PM JT-Shop: what did I do?
04:11 PM JT-Shop: which example
04:12 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> bad boy, JT 😉
05:01 PM Tom_L: the touch-probe example
05:02 PM Tom_L: and getting the resources.py working
05:17 PM JT-Auto-Shop: how did you do that?
05:22 PM Tom_L: do what?
05:23 PM Tom_L: i need to add the ini probe feeds to the rest of the subs next
05:37 PM JT-Shop: delete the image files...
05:37 PM Tom_L: they're read in with resources.py now
05:37 PM Tom_L: RESOURCES = resources.py
05:38 PM Tom_L: the whole point of the exercise
05:39 PM Tom_L: if you had to have the images folder it would be redundant to have resources.py
05:41 PM JT-Shop: I went over to a guys place that used to restore corvettes and he had quite a collection of corvettes and other cars as well as a lot of parts
05:41 PM Tom_L: nice
05:42 PM JT-Shop: I got a bunch of parts to rebuild the headlight vacuum system for about 1/2 price or less
05:42 PM JT-Shop: brand new parts
05:42 PM Tom_L: even better
05:42 PM Tom_L: my bud's dad used to do that with stearman aircraft
05:42 PM JT-Shop: he has a 63 fuel injection corvette which is very rare so like a 100k car
05:42 PM Tom_L: he had probably the biggest stockpile of them in the us
05:42 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:43 PM JT-Shop: he was walking around the parts shelves and handing me parts for free
05:43 PM JT-Shop: saying you might need one of these...
05:43 PM Tom_L: he must know he'll never use em
05:44 PM JT-Shop: he sells some on flea bay I think for a hobby now
05:44 PM Tom_L: he probably enjoyed building the collection
05:45 PM JT-Shop: he's had over 450 corvettes I assume to rebuild and sell
05:45 PM Tom_L: must be nice
05:46 PM JT-Shop: that was his job
05:46 PM Tom_L: oh
05:47 PM JT-Shop: his business was in st louis and he restored and sold corvettes since 82
05:48 PM Tom_L: he probably knows most of the parts on one by heart
05:48 PM JT-Shop: yup
05:49 PM JT-Shop: one good thing is he has a stock 82 so if I need to look at how something should be I can use his for reference
06:28 PM Tom_L: when you probe left or right you calculate to the center of the tip right?
06:28 PM Tom_L: when you probe Z- is it the same?
06:43 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LldnuPw5aGo
06:44 PM Tom_L: cool
06:55 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> might work...
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> It is pretty willy nilly... The gear tooth sensor was pretty spastic until I jammed the shield of the wire into the ground of the PI usb plug
06:57 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> (the low voltage side of things need a bit of work)
06:58 PM Tom_L: i'm taking all cradek's routines and adding ini parameters to them
06:58 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> Neat!
06:58 PM Tom_L: for probe tip, retract values etc
06:59 PM Tom_L: x y location for tool touch probe
06:59 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> That seems like the next step..
06:59 PM Tom_L: one spot to adjust all of em
07:02 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> you guys are rock stars.
07:34 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
08:05 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, how much have you modified chris's routines?
