12:38 AM xxcoder: simple and interesting. hot glue cast molds 3d printed
03:22 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> Morning

04:24 AM JT-Cave: morning
04:34 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
04:38 AM JT-Cave1: a lot lol
04:38 AM JT-Cave1: first is brakes
04:40 AM lcnc-relay: <meisterdippel> moin
04:54 AM Deejay: hi
05:21 AM JT-Cave1 is now known as JT-Cave
05:21 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:22 AM JT-Cave: so step one is to clear out a space to work on it in the big shop
05:23 AM JT-Cave: C3's use lip seals on the calipers which will leak if not used often so if the calipers are not pitted I'll put o-ring kits in the calipers and check the hoses
05:56 AM JT-Cave: just found a collection of C3 tech info about 300MB...
06:00 AM JT-Cave: time to ride
06:53 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/qgRRnhGodsbcrwRUKXGuOPfF/IMG_1652.jpg
06:53 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> When trying to go through the pncconf wizard i encountered this error. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction? In Terms of Hardware i am running a pi4 with the provided image and a 7c81 with 5abobx2d
07:17 AM rdtsc-wk: Perhaps the developers decided to support locales (Europe: 0,1mm, US: 0.1in), but it does not recognize your particular locale. What is the pi's locale? Can get from terminal --> locale
07:19 AM rdtsc-wk: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/39-pncconf/50843-locale-error-unsurported-local-setting-on-raspberry-pi-4
07:37 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/hOyQUvuuLhjdAHVXGuLltTQW/IMG_1653.jpg
07:37 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> That is the output of locale
07:39 AM rdtsc-wk: try 'menu-config' to set the locale (if using the LinuxCNC 2.9.2 or 2.9.3 .iso for RPi.) C.UTF-8 is generic, not really set to any locale.
08:02 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> Thank you for your help. I have set a locale and now other works.
08:07 AM lcnc-relay: <die_limonade> * it
08:44 AM lcnc-relay: <turboss> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCpVGwSJoyQ
08:44 AM lcnc-relay: <turboss> DRO repair 😮
08:50 AM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> wow, blood sugar was 84, an hour AFTER eating a breakfast of sausage with maple syrup on it...
08:50 AM lcnc-relay: i wonder what a fasting level would have been!
08:56 AM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I love curious mark and his friends. they are super smart..

10:56 AM Tom_L: what brand is that?
10:57 AM Tom_L: look like mostly facing and drill/tap ops
11:08 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Toyoda
11:15 AM Tom_L: they make robotic arms too don't they?
11:16 AM bjorkintosh: goodness, which shop is that, captainhindsight?
11:19 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> They have about 100 of them here
11:20 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Midwest tracker manufacturer
11:22 AM Tom_L: heh, they set a spindle on fire at my kid's work over the weekend
11:22 AM Tom_L: on one of the makinos
11:23 AM Tom_L: aparently they've been having wiring issues with it from the factory
11:33 AM JT-Shop: rut ro
11:34 AM JT-Shop: John Deere?
11:36 AM Tom_L: jt does that have 4 wheel disk or is the rear drum?
11:37 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/sLYZFqjXjJNXxmMHmnONZPCY/IMG_20240820_112909.jpg

11:37 AM Tom_L: not enough tap honey
11:38 AM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> Yup

12:27 PM JT-Cave: nap time
01:17 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/jauriarts.org/UNZZfpUEZuTujQzvqUXqXduF/IMG_20240820_130849.jpg
01:17 PM lcnc-relay: <captainhindsight_.> big work cells
01:33 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> ever get so screwed up in spelling something in your head, that even google can't figure it out for you? LMAO 🤣
01:34 PM xxcoder: havent happened to me... today
01:34 PM bjorkintosh: maybe it's a word in a conlang.
01:34 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> it was "anomaly" 🤣
02:53 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> BWAHAHAHA, i have setup blocking by User-Agent on my webserver to block bad robots that just scrape for data... and it is WORKING!!! i am so very happy now! no more bandwidth hogs on my server. 🙂
02:59 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> must be everybody is napping 😉
03:00 PM xxcoder: or its workday
03:00 PM xxcoder: or napping at work
03:01 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> true... i forget that being out of work 😦
03:01 PM xxcoder: lol even if im retired, I still remember workdays ;)
03:01 PM xxcoder: it sucks but I will never work again.
03:01 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> maybe, but they all run together now
03:02 PM xxcoder: fun isnt it
03:02 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> i want to work, but it is hard getting work, being Autistic
03:02 PM xxcoder: I'm thinking of selling my cnc router for low price like $200
03:03 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> wish i could afford it
03:03 PM xxcoder: it took me literally years to get good long term work
03:04 PM xxcoder: btw guys im in tacoma, wa, if one fo you guys want to buy it. its incomplete and steppers is crap thats why its cheap. pm me on irc, or on discord (xxcodery) pick up only
03:04 PM xxcoder: its 8040 cnc router
03:06 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> you can't pop a few stamps on it? 😉
03:07 PM xxcoder: lol
03:10 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> yeah, i don't even know how i am going to move my machine from the old shop to the new shop when the time is ready. it must be 400 pounds or more
03:10 PM xxcoder: cant pll apart and rebuild?
03:11 PM xxcoder: oh yes its 3040 not 6040
03:11 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> old steel bolts in aluminum... i doubt it
03:12 PM xxcoder: oh boy
03:13 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> yeah...
03:13 PM xxcoder: well can always build temp wheeled platform
03:13 PM xxcoder: in parts so you could lift one corner then another so on
03:13 PM xxcoder: then bolt them together into one solid platform
03:13 PM xxcoder: its bit hard to detail design but yeah
03:14 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> thinking of making a platform on a trailer, and skidding it onto that somehow
03:15 PM lcnc-relay: <Travis Farmer> floor now is only a little shorter than the trailer, so the lift with enough people (cringe) is short.
04:29 PM lcnc-relay: <JT> https://jauriarts.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/BzXInFikxsPwDLYVriEJULVB/1000002269.jpg

04:30 PM xxcoder: definitely needed some work
04:32 PM JT-Shop: had a bit of a problem stopping...
04:32 PM JT-Shop: two pistons were leaking
04:33 PM JT-Shop: may be more on the front as both reservoirs were very low
04:33 PM xxcoder: one padseems destroyed
04:33 PM JT-Shop: the one on the leaky side yes
04:34 PM JT-Shop: gotta get the calipers off and see if they are pitted or not...
04:44 PM Tom_L: gonna flush the fluid too?
04:44 PM JT-Shop: yup
04:45 PM Tom_L: well past the squeakers for sure
04:45 PM Tom_L: they probably didn't have those back then
04:45 PM xxcoder: bleh I hate early rains
04:45 PM xxcoder: quite humid
04:46 PM JT-Shop: both reservoirs were very low so I suspect a leaker on the front too
04:46 PM Tom_L: front & rear are disk?
04:46 PM Tom_L: disc
04:46 PM JT-Shop: yup 4 piston
04:46 PM Tom_L: i see that
04:47 PM Tom_L: sometimes it's fun getting those out
04:47 PM JT-Shop: the pistons?
04:47 PM Tom_L: yeah
04:47 PM JT-Shop: grease gun :)
04:48 PM Tom_L: stick a 1x in there and pop em with some air
04:48 PM Tom_L: that gets em started anyway
04:48 PM JT-Shop: 1x?
04:48 PM Tom_L: wood
04:48 PM JT-Shop: ah before splitting the caliper
04:49 PM Tom_L: yeah
04:49 PM Tom_L: just don't get splattered with fluid
04:49 PM Tom_L: i have a pressure nozzle with a rubber tip
04:50 PM JT-Shop: I have a blow gun with a rubber tip but it just blows the tip off lol
04:50 PM Tom_L: and a drum brake cylinder hone somewhere that hasn't been used in the past 30 yrs
04:51 PM Tom_L: my tip screws on the handle
04:51 PM Tom_L: iirc snapon or bluepoint
04:56 PM Tom_L: there used to be a dirty old brake shop here that had a mountain of drums by the door. you walk in and they would turn your drums while you wait and fit the pads to the drum
04:57 PM JT-Shop: I need that on the F40 tractor, I know the shoes don't fit the drums well
04:57 PM Tom_L: that was all they did
04:58 PM Tom_L: picture one of those mom & pop places.. dim lit door wide open handfull of guys doing their thing
04:58 PM JT-Shop: there's a generator/alternator shop like that in town
04:58 PM Tom_L: yeah we had one of those too
04:58 PM Tom_L: good ole days
04:59 PM JT-Shop: ole days for sure... I like the good new days a bit more
04:59 PM Tom_L: alot of the knowledge is gone
05:01 PM JT-Shop: I was pretty stoked to find a 300MB zip file of knowledge on the C3 this morning
05:02 PM JT-Shop: I was having a bit of buyers remorse yesterday but got over it lol
05:02 PM Tom_L: heh
05:03 PM Tom_L: my wife does that every time we trade vehicles
05:04 PM JT-Shop: the main thing is I've accepted what the car is and what it will never be
05:04 PM JT-Shop: fun to drive but never a show car
05:05 PM JT-Shop: need to spray all the bolts with break free before I retire for the night
06:55 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> so.. I have a linux machine that since the ssd went bad (I recovered the image with clonezilla)
06:55 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> it has been locking up. (the linux side.)
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> when it happens it could be just a flashing curser - or currently it is unresponsive - but the time on the lock screen is working..
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> nothing in syslog
06:56 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> doesn't really matter if I figure it out as I have created a new system with the latest debian.
06:57 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> but - sure would like to figure it out
06:57 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I can ping it - but can't ssh into it
07:03 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I have checked the integraty of all the packages installed..
07:14 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> rocroft: I ordered a pasive antenna combine (channel master) and maybe gained a couple stations.
07:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> but this is only for this area. I still need to tweek the antenna directions to see what they do. (hook up the antenna rotor)
07:15 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> (I didn't lose stations - so I am happy)
07:27 PM rdtsc_away is now known as rdtsc
07:34 PM rdtsc: SW, which linux is on it? Can you tell it to install a new kernel? Also check the date and time - mismatch from real date and time has been known to cause all kinds of weird issues (usually web-related.)
07:36 PM rdtsc: just finished 4mi walk
07:53 PM rdtsc: Tom, wonder what the conversions would be on the DFS tab to get needed spindle horsepower or kw
08:32 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> rftsc: debian bookworm - I will check
08:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> i have a qestion based on what sam just asked about
08:41 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> not related, but inspired
08:42 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> can you freeze the os or something?
08:42 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> in a good way, can you freeze thwe filesystem or something so its the exact same thing every time you turn it on?
08:43 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> so nothing ever changed, it just restores on reboot or something
08:43 PM lcnc-relay: <big_kevin420> if this is bad, please explain also
08:44 PM lcnc-relay: <skunkworks8841> I think you get close to that with replication and zfs.. but you are still running a host
08:58 PM Tom_L: rdtsc, something like this? https://www.custompartnet.com/calculator/drilling-horsepower
09:02 PM rdtsc: nice Tom, quite exhaustive. Was hoping for an approximation just to see if the cut is applicable to the various spindles we'd use
09:19 PM rdtsc: JT_Shop tried Qt 6.7.6 diag: https://paste.debian.net/1327058/
09:23 PM rdtsc is now known as rdtsc_away
