01:42 AM pere: rene-dev5 andypugh seb_kuzminsky: would it make sense to make a physical linuxcnc test rig?
07:04 AM rene-dev5: pere what do you mean by that
07:08 AM pere: something to test linuxcnc is working on real hardware, automatically.
08:34 AM rene-dev5: yeah, but I dont really see the benefit. there are not many things you cant do in sim. all you really do is testing drivers, which rarely have issues.
08:35 AM rene-dev5: there are many much bigger issues with the tests :D
08:38 AM rene-dev5: I dont really know what to test on real hardware. just IO? which drivers? which hardware?
09:10 AM Unterhaus_ is now known as Unterhausen
09:13 AM rene-dev5: there will be a meeting in Stuttgart again. https://nuudel.digitalcourage.de/ZBnmKxmcELW9Nd8C
09:37 AM seb_kuzminsky: pere: i have a couple of physical hardware test rigs that i bring out occasionally when i feel like need for them arises, but generally i agree with rene-dev5, most of the flaky stuff is testable in sim
09:38 AM seb_kuzminsky: hardware drivers are pretty simple compared to the gui/task/interp/motion stuff... and those complicated parts are all testable in sim
