01:54 PM hazzy-m: been really quite in here ...
02:07 PM skunkworks: Too quiet...
02:10 PM hazzy-m: I miss jepler's forum updates, they were regular as clockwork, hope he is OK
02:27 PM skunkworks: Linuxcnc has always ebbed and flowed...
02:33 PM jthornton: skunkworks: were you around here during the EMC 1 days?
02:40 PM Tom_L: were you jthornton?
02:40 PM Tom_L: i followed it from the early days but never used it until recently
02:41 PM * hazzy-m was learning how to crawl in the EMC1 days
02:43 PM JT-Shop: I started with emc when the first live cd came out as I was too brain dead to use the BDI (Brain Dead Install) for geeks only lol
02:43 PM JT-Shop: I think that was emc 2.1
02:46 PM Tom_L: what did you run it on?
02:47 PM Tom_L: i was using flashcutcnc back then
02:47 PM Tom_L: on a rs232 line :)
02:48 PM JT-Shop: that's when I built the plasma table
02:48 PM JT-Shop: I even have some of the BDI cd's laying around lol
02:49 PM Tom_L: i can't even remember how far back that was
02:49 PM Tom_L: i've had the sherline for 25+ years
02:49 PM Tom_L: probably more than that now
02:55 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop did you see the threadmill macro i did for my cad cam?
02:56 PM Tom_L: simple but it's kinda handy
03:01 PM JT-Shop: yea saw that the other day, what program is it for?
03:01 PM Tom_L: smartcam
03:01 PM JT-Shop: never tried that
03:02 PM Tom_L: added lead in lead out and a z feed move now
03:02 PM Tom_L: it was comparable to mastercam only better back then
03:02 PM Tom_L: commercial product
03:04 PM Tom_L: there are far better programs out there now but i'm just using it for a hobby now
06:05 PM CMorley: Tom_L what version of smartcam do you have - I have version 7.55 turn -uses a dongle
06:28 PM Tom_L: 4.61
06:28 PM Tom_L: pretty old..
06:29 PM Tom_L: i'm trying to figure out how to change the txt color in the macro dialog boxes
06:29 PM Tom_L: very hard to read as is
06:29 PM Tom_L: almost white on white
06:32 PM Tom_L: mine also has a dongle
06:32 PM Tom_L: i've got FFM & Pturn
06:39 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Smartcam/
06:39 PM Tom_L: CMorley, there's a single point thread macro if you have any use for it
06:39 PM Tom_L: 2 passes
06:42 PM CMorley: Thank you. I would love to get a copy of mill but I've never found one. I would give you the 7.55 version if you like - though the 10 or so disks are a bit inconvenient..
06:44 PM Tom_L: years ago i found a canadian company that cracked the dongle. i got tired of calling every time i updated something
06:44 PM Tom_L: so i'm dongle free now
06:44 PM Tom_L: you wanna try 4.61?
06:44 PM Tom_L: i'm sure it's long past anybody caring...
06:46 PM Tom_L: i've only used Pturn a couple of times
06:46 PM Tom_L: we generally just MDI the code and save it
06:47 PM CMorley: Sure. i actually a few years ago contacted point control to ask if they would release the old code - they refused and mentioned that i was not really supposed to be using the version i had as it was purchased by the former owner of the machine. I asked no more questions after that :)
06:48 PM Tom_L: ffm is alot like pturn with more features
06:48 PM Tom_L: it's traded hands probably 4 or so times since point control...
06:48 PM CMorley: the version i have is dos based but can be run on win 98 at least ..
06:49 PM Tom_L: i have an original dos install as well
06:49 PM Tom_L: but use windows
06:49 PM Tom_L: i keep the dos installed for file translation on old stuff
06:51 PM CMorley: I don;t use it much now but it can be handy sometimes. i was trying to get it to work on docbox but I couldn't figure out of to load it via disk - then there would have been the problem of the dongle
06:51 PM Tom_L: yeah i doubt i could use 7.55 either
06:53 PM CMorley: i have an old laptop I use with win 98
06:53 PM Tom_L: iirc the original install was on NT / dos dual boot which i still have
06:54 PM Tom_L: lemme burn an iso if i can find it
06:57 PM Tom_L: huh, i've actually got 9.1 but no way to install it
07:00 PM CMorley: You make an iso of the harddrive? i never though of that..
07:00 PM Tom_L: no, the install disk
07:01 PM Tom_L: that might work though...
07:01 PM CMorley: I have about 10 discs for install
07:01 PM Tom_L: i may have some stored away but i've got a CD install for 4.61
07:01 PM Tom_L: i probably still have the dos install disks somewhere
07:02 PM Tom_L: and a good post for lcnc
07:26 PM Tom_L: CMorley around?
07:57 PM CMorley: Tom_L: Thanks I'll check that out.
07:57 PM Tom_L: lemme know if you have problems
08:14 PM CMorley: ok i will
