06:40 AM andypugh: [TRAJ] SPINDLES or [KINS] SPINDLES to define how many spindles there are?
10:24 AM Jin|away is now known as Jin^eLD
04:44 PM Jin^eLD is now known as Jin|away
06:58 PM rene_dev_: andypugh is that related to kins? I dont think so... Im just thinking about toolchanges with multipe spindles
07:00 PM rene_dev_: imho that is implementation dependent, and should be handled by the toolchange macro
07:00 PM rene_dev_: I wonder how threading works in your macro... It seems to lack many options, and does not obey css settings. and has no adjustment for passes.
07:01 PM rene_dev_: it does work, I just wonder how to make it faster :D
07:01 PM andypugh: Frankly I have no idea how toolchange needs to work with multiple spindles, and cutter radius comp? Even less of a clue
07:02 PM andypugh: rene_dev_: The threading uses CSS, but the initial truncation move is a bit wierd.
07:02 PM andypugh: I have actually actively disabled threading CSS on my own machine, spindle-at speed and speed variations sometimes mess up the thread.
07:03 PM andypugh: (I use constant rpm and _computed_ CSS.)
07:03 PM andypugh: Yes, I think it takes too many passes. I suggest tuning the G-code sub.
07:04 PM andypugh: It was developed on my chinese stepper machine
07:06 PM rene_dev_: ah. the carbide insert seems to be bored.
07:07 PM rene_dev_: I think all that stuff should go into a git somewhere
07:07 PM rene_dev_: the more I use it, the more I like it.
07:08 PM rene_dev_: its like conventional machining for lazy pepole like me
07:09 PM rene_dev_: yeah, the initial move seems very very slow
07:17 PM andypugh: I make pretty much everything with the macros. It’s like a step up from power feed.
07:18 PM andypugh: I think part of it is that I like standing by the lathe, but the mill bores me.
07:19 PM andypugh: So with the mill I like to set it off and go back inside for a coffee, but I will happily stand at the lathe all night.
07:21 PM rene_dev_: :D
07:22 PM rene_dev_: do you use hss or inserts for threading?
08:06 PM skunkworks: 2 of the 3 steppers had the thrust bearings in backwards..
08:14 PM andypugh: rene_dev_: I bought an insert tool years ago (with one of each pitch)
08:15 PM andypugh: So, the macro assumes root rounding on the insert and that the tool is toucjed-off for true turned diameter.
