03:31 AM linuxcnc-build_: build #5487 of 0000.checkin is complete: Failure [4failed] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/0000.checkin/builds/5487 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>
02:23 PM mozmck: I'm trying to build packages in an ubuntu 18.04 VM in virtualbox, and I get this error: dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for /var/lib/VBoxGuestAdditions/lib/libGL.so.1 (used by debian/linuxcnc-uspace/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/linuxcnc.x86_64-linux-gnu.so)
02:23 PM mozmck: What can I do to fix that?
02:25 PM cradek: don't install the virtualbox drivers that have bogus packaging
02:26 PM cradek: (I'm not sure if that's the only way)
02:27 PM seb_kuzminsky: yeah, looks like you linked against some weird vbox implementation of libgl, instead of the normal one
02:27 PM seb_kuzminsky: hi mozmck! hi cradek!
02:27 PM mozmck: Well, I can try and uninstall them. The guest additions give some nice features. They are compiled with dkms.
02:27 PM mozmck: hi seb_kuzminsky! hi cradek!
02:30 PM seb_kuzminsky: but you don't want your linuxcnc debs to depend on and use vbox stuff, do you?
02:31 PM mozmck: nope!
02:31 PM mozmck: The main thing it gives that is nice is shared folders with the host.
02:31 PM seb_kuzminsky: you might try to determine where in the configure script it got confused and picked the wrong implementation of libgl
02:32 PM seb_kuzminsky: that way you could get it to build on vbox with their guest additions installed, and still come out correct
02:32 PM mozmck: Hmm, I could look at that. I think I got guest additions uninstalled now though, so I'm going to try with that.
02:34 PM cradek: I also have a minor creepy feeling that this same thing happens with the nvidia driver if you install it the nvidia way
02:34 PM mozmck: Would it be the debian/configure script or the src/configure script?
02:34 PM mozmck: cradek: I'm thinking you are right. Seems like I had that problem back when I was working on 10.04
02:36 PM mozmck: I do use the nvidia drivers installed with the Driver Manager in LinuxMint 17.x and don't have a problem with that.
02:39 PM mozmck: Looks like removing the guest additions worked - thanks!
03:03 PM seb_kuzminsky: mozmck: it'd be src/configure
03:03 PM mozmck: ok, I may try and look at that sometime - or I might not get around to it and forget it until it bites me again :-)
03:04 PM seb_kuzminsky: i know how that goes :-)
07:18 PM andypugh: Is there a way to convert a r-i-p to installed?
07:18 PM andypugh: (I am sure there is, perhaps I should ask if there is an easy way)
07:19 PM andypugh: I seem to recall using —with-prefix but that seems to be strongly discouraged
07:24 PM andypugh: The reason I ask is that I want to test a new patch on my lathe, and that has no keyboard, so running the rip-environment script is tricky
07:27 PM pcw_mesa: make a icon
07:28 PM andypugh: I suppose I could
07:28 PM andypugh: (turn on the machine, wait for linuxcnc to boot, quit linuxcnc, touch the icon for the RIP version,,,)
07:29 PM andypugh: The machine currently boots into an external offset branch.
07:29 PM andypugh: Which I probably got from the buildbot
07:30 PM andypugh: So perhaps I should push a feature branch, let the builbot make me a deb then install that :-)
