10:41 AM IchGucksLive: hi all is there a way to fix the top spindle speed with Spoindle override 1.5
10:43 AM IchGucksLive: i cand find the docs on that
10:44 AM IchGucksLive: DEFAULT_SPINDLE_SPEED = 8000is not regionised while DEFAULT_SPINDLE_SPEED = 300 is on 2.8 latest
10:48 AM IchGucksLive: i also discoverd a quite big differents in Testing with the new Stepconf client then using the real config generated
10:48 AM IchGucksLive: the TEAST i Know has its own TASK
10:48 AM IchGucksLive: but why is the legg between so big
10:49 AM IchGucksLive: it seams the test setup is mutch more latency frendly and gets a 90% performance of thinking while the real setup then has only 20% of what id expect
10:49 AM IchGucksLive: AS i speek from 2.8 master not the 2.7.11
10:49 AM IchGucksLive: till later
11:25 AM KimK: Does freenode offer a way to message people that pop in and out, like our friend above?
11:26 AM KimK: I mean to post a message for later delivery, when the recipent reappears?
11:26 AM cradek: I don't know of any way
11:26 AM cradek: /msg nickserv help is where I looked. might be hidden somewhere else...
11:27 AM seb_kuzminsky: the only way i know of is to write your reply in a long-lived room, not as a direct message, and hope the recipient reads the log when they come back
11:29 AM KimK: OK, thanks, cradek, thanks seb_kuzminsky. I didn't know of a way either, but I have seen other IRCs (where?) that have that feature. I did look at /help, and several /help foos, but nothing seemed applicable.
11:29 AM seb_kuzminsky: i think it must be a bot that does that job, not the irc network itself
11:38 AM KimK: OK, thanks, Seb. While I have your attention, to temporarily (or permanently?) compensate for the failure of a tach generator on a DC servo drive, in a system where I have a 5i22 and 7i33s, is hm2_5i22.0.encoder.0x.velocity the one I want? It is a float, and I was wondering if that is OK (readable in realtime?), or do I want one of the other (S32, etc.) offerings? I don't see a straight velocity. I can post a list.
11:41 AM cradek: you're going to feed that out another dac and use it as the amps velocity feedback? I think that's correct
11:41 AM cradek: I did that to fix a failed tach
11:42 AM cradek: it's much lower voltage than a tach - I think I had to modify the amp a bit?
11:43 AM KimK: Yes, that is the plan. I was unsure if reading the hm2_blah...velocity (float) is OK. Yes, I might have trouble with the voltage too. We'll see what happens there.
11:44 AM cradek: yep pretty sure encoder.velocity is the one to use
11:45 AM KimK: Oh, and then writing the velocity (float) out to hm2_blah...pwmgen (float). I was worried that there were getting to be too many floats. But maybe if all within the Mesa system it's OK?
11:48 AM seb_kuzminsky: KimK: that sounds right
11:48 AM seb_kuzminsky: all the hm2 pins are realtime
11:49 AM seb_kuzminsky: as long as you get the voltages and scales and everything right, i think that should work
11:51 AM KimK: OK, good. Thanks, cradek, thanks seb_kuzminsky. More later.
12:14 PM Tom_L: KimK, there's a bot in the main channel you can leave a message for when they return
12:14 PM Tom_L: it's fairly new
07:14 PM jepler: digitalocean has announced they will start charging for bandwidth (this is where the forum is hosted). This should not impact the price of hosting overall, as the first 2TB of transfer per month are included. I'm not sure if their historical info is accurate, they project only 60GB transfer use per month from flo.
07:17 PM jepler: more info: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/digitalocean-bandwidth-billing-faq
07:28 PM jepler: a promise of $100 custom fabricated chips. vapor for now, crowdfunding soon. https://hackaday.io/project/152709-itsy-chipsy-make-your-own-100-chip
