06:39 PM andypugh: Ah, no. I want to compare two floats for equality in the smart-serial code to see if the value has ben changed.
06:40 PM andypugh: And it’s harder than you might think. Especially as the value is stored as a double in HAL, but could be any number of bits when transmitted through smart-serial (including, potentially, quarter-precision)

06:45 PM andypugh: I think that the right way to do it might be to store them in a union with a u64, shift them right until only the specified number of bits show, subtract them and see if the result > 2

06:56 PM andypugh: jepler: Any ideas? I read an article on it, and that seemed fairly happy with looking at the difference between integer representations, but it gets harder when you have to consider that the value in the double might have come from a float.
