10:28 AM chris_: hello anyone listening at the moment
10:30 AM archivist: no
10:30 AM archivist: in irc always ask the real question
10:31 AM chris_: sorry Im new to irc I have a 2.8 system up and running with new inifile how do you stop the anoying popup wnting to edit it
10:36 AM archivist: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/getting-started/running-linuxcnc.html
11:46 AM jepler: chris_: Based on checking the source code, you shold make sure that [EMC]VERSION=1.0 in your inifile
11:56 AM seb_kuzminsky: chris_: or run "linuxcnc -l" instead
03:05 PM andypugh: pcw_home: Can you suggest a bitfile that has a DPLL? I currently have 7i43, 7i90HD, 7i80DB and 6i25 as FPGA cards on the test machine, so there should be an existing bitfile for one of them.
05:31 PM pcw_mesa: andypugh: by default all Ethernet configurations have DPLL
05:32 PM andypugh: OK, great, should be easy to find one then.
05:32 PM pcw_mesa: (there are a few old bitfiles around that don't but most do)
05:32 PM pcw_mesa: a giveaway is a "d" at the end of the name
05:33 PM pcw_mesa: I can add the DPLL to any config bit its just more likely to be helpful with Ethernet
05:34 PM pcw_mesa: s/bit/but/
05:39 PM andypugh: I have a fix for the empty config silent failure ready. The obvious answer for 7i43 is “Oi! you muppet, we need a firmware” but for 7i90 a blank config is perfectly reasonable. I am half-tempted to put the backwards compatible fix in 2.7 (for that one user who really does have a second 7i43 that actually is on port 0x278 and really does use a blank config…) but do it the neat way in 2.8.
05:45 PM pcw_mesa: Its unlikely anyone has 2 7I43s in a system
05:47 PM pcw_mesa: a 7I43 can also have preloaded firmware also but the driver is unaware of this and will not work with pre-confiigured 7I43s
05:49 PM pcw_mesa: (AFAIK this is the main reason the 7I43 and 7I90HD drivers are different though they could be the same)
05:50 PM pcw_mesa: (in other words hm2_epp)
06:38 PM andypugh: Yes, I know it is unlikely, and even more unlikely that the same person is not specifying an ioaddress for each card, and vanishingly unlikely that his second card is at 0x278, but I caught a crab once.
