08:24 AM skunkworks_: jepler, awesome! I am currently printing a pokemon ball for a co-worker... ;)
09:47 AM jepler: skunkworks_: I ultimately did 4 prints last night including 2 pretty lengthy ones and didn't have the problem with the coupling again. I did get some weird defect that looked like under-extrusion on just one part of the object; but that part of the object was pretty thin. I printed it again with thicker walls and more infill and the problem didn't recur, so I don't know what that means. https://e

09:48 AM jepler: (and btw isn't it amazing to be able to take a shot like that with a fricking phone camera?)
09:50 AM jepler: that correct url is https://emergent.unpythonic.net/files/sandbox/IMG_20170515_200936.jpg
09:51 AM skunkworks_: I got it. interesting.
09:52 AM skunkworks_: I don't know my printing fails enough to know what is going on
09:52 AM skunkworks_: http://electronicsam.com/images/matsuura/20170515_120510.jpg
09:53 AM skunkworks_: more toys for the kids ;)
09:58 AM jepler: skunkworks_: cute
09:58 AM jepler: is the monoprice-brand filament working well for you?
10:06 AM skunkworks_: jepler, no issues that I can ell
10:06 AM skunkworks_: tell
10:06 AM skunkworks_: just put the 1kg roll of white on
10:06 AM skunkworks_: so far so good
10:06 AM skunkworks_: I don't think my emails are making it through the mailing list anymore
10:08 AM jepler: skunkworks_: :-/
10:10 AM skunkworks_: I don't get them back - they just don't show up.
10:11 AM jepler: the last e-mail from you I see on the list is April 28
10:12 AM skunkworks_: I have sent a few since then. Just never made it.
10:13 AM skunkworks_: I am looking at my membership configuration. Other than my bounce score is 1.. (out of 5) it seems fine
11:01 AM seb_kuzminsky: i wish there was a better mailing list provider for foss projects than sf
11:17 AM cradek: skunkworks_: users or developers?
11:19 AM skunkworks_: user for sure
11:21 AM seb_kuzminsky: there's been plenty of traffic on emc-users lately, just not from skunkworks_
11:22 AM cradek: I agree the last was Apr 28
11:23 AM skunkworks_: I just sent one this morning
11:24 AM skunkworks_: hmm - I think it is my problem... Jeeze
11:26 AM cradek: what did you find?
11:26 AM cradek: (I don't see anything wrong with your list subscription)
11:28 AM skunkworks_: Something changed in my client that made it so I have to 'reply to list'... I used to be able to just reply.
11:29 AM seb_kuzminsky: skunkworks_: i got your reply to the "new thread inspired by Christopher" thread
11:29 AM seb_kuzminsky: just now
11:31 AM skunkworks_: yah - because I stopped being stupid
11:32 AM skunkworks_: in certain aspects of my life
11:33 AM seb_kuzminsky: baby steps
03:06 PM skunkworks_: bed temp thermocouple quite working :)
03:07 PM skunkworks_: quit
03:27 PM jepler: skunkworks_: :(
03:28 PM jepler: if it was "quite working" it might make sense to :) but since it quit working I imagine you will :(
06:13 PM seb_kuzminsky: jepler: looks like it's in Axis' interp, not Task's
06:20 PM seb_kuzminsky: great :-)
06:34 PM seb_kuzminsky: ooh, the forum is 800 MB into swap, more than i've ever seen it except before a crash
06:35 PM seb_kuzminsky: but we reached the limit of 25 apaches, and we're not going *deeper* into swap, so maybe it's ok now?
06:38 PM seb_kuzminsky: but it's super slow to respond.... maybe so slow that it's not responding at all
06:38 PM seb_kuzminsky: no, it responded, it just took about a minute to load the front page
06:44 PM seb_kuzminsky: and now there are only 12 apaches, we're down to 300 MB swap, and website response time is in the handful-of-seconds range
06:44 PM seb_kuzminsky: so, the swap storm seems to be receeding
06:49 PM Tom_L: sounds like the weather here
06:49 PM seb_kuzminsky: there was not an unusually large number of http accesses just before the storm
06:50 PM jepler: seb_kuzminsky: should I knock it down a little more so it doesn't swap so heavily?
06:51 PM Tom_L: are these all home servers or paid commercial ones?
06:51 PM Tom_L: just curious
06:51 PM Tom_L: forum & buildbot
06:53 PM jepler: Tom_L: forum is a $10/month instance at digitalocean
06:54 PM jepler: (virtual private server type)
06:57 PM seb_kuzminsky: Tom_L: the buildbot is a couple of rackmount servers in my garage
06:57 PM seb_kuzminsky: jepler: please leave it at 25 for now, i added some more telemetry, hopefully we'll get a better read next time it happens
06:58 PM seb_kuzminsky: bbl
07:30 PM jepler: seb_kuzminsky: OK
09:05 PM KGB-linuxcnc: 03Jeff Epler 05master 5b7892b 06linuxcnc 10src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/axis.py axis: Fix reload of preview after abort * 14http://git.linuxcnc.org/?p=linuxcnc.git;a=commitdiff;h=5b7892b
09:06 PM jepler: so I wrote *at least* 3 bugs with that 'ungrounded preview' change :-/
09:06 PM jepler: (the two that were reported plus a third that I spotted while fixing the first. gurk)
09:35 PM jepler: skunkworks_: in a related revolting development, my machine's bed won't heat tonight. shall we combine your busted temperature probe with my busted heater and get one working machine?
09:35 PM Tom_L: is it adviseable to use debian over other flavors now?
09:38 PM Tom_L: seems that way..
09:50 PM jepler: Tom_L: I think it's unlikely that linuxcnc.org will ever offer a newer Ubuntu install image, and likely that it will offer a new Debian install image. But for 2.7 and master branch, we anticipate that you'll be able to use Ubuntu 12.04, as well as Debian 7 and 8.
09:52 PM Tom_L: i'm going with debian for now, just hope i can recover my data from the other hdd
09:53 PM Tom_L: somehow lost the GUI on 10.04 and didn't have a clue how to recover it
09:53 PM Tom_L: figured it could be time to update
09:57 PM Tom_L: have the configs changed much since 10.04?
09:57 PM jepler: "the configs"?
09:57 PM Tom_L: i think i should be ok
09:57 PM jepler: when it comes to LinuxCNC configuration files, what's important is the LinuxCNC version
09:57 PM Tom_L: ini and hal
09:58 PM Tom_L: i'd been running 2.7 and going to 2.7 on debian so i think i'm ok
10:07 PM jepler: skunkworks_: it's dependent on the bed position (bed all the way forward, it'll heat), so I assume it's a problem of wear on the wires. from what I can see with the bed in place, the connection at the pads looks fine, and I didn't identify any wear on the wires where they flex or rub in motion so I'm baffled. leaving it for another night, but gee I wanted to print some PETG
10:08 PM skunksleep: https://hackaday.io/project/21900-monoprice-select-mini-v2-bed-wire-challenge
10:09 PM skunksleep: That is my cousin. She pretty much said 'i told you so' not doing the reroute wire mods.
10:10 PM jepler: skunkworks_: yeah but when I touch wiring, things fry so I'm sort of damned if I do and damned if I don't.
10:10 PM skunksleep: My temp sensor problem is also med position dependent...
10:11 PM skunksleep: Bed
10:11 PM jepler: 'night
10:11 PM skunksleep: Night
10:13 PM Tom_L: cold solder joints?
10:17 PM skunksleep: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/raspberry-pi-cnc/336418-cnc.html
10:17 PM skunksleep: Might have some time to look at it tomorrow
10:18 PM skunksleep: (the wiring issue)
