12:27 AM Connor1 is now known as Connor
12:39 PM skunkworks: /msg cradek how the mans?
12:39 PM skunkworks: heh
12:42 PM skunkworks: I blame my 2 year old for putting a space there..
01:08 PM cradek: haha
03:41 PM bpuk: completely OT: When I pulled my (old) servos from the bridgeport, I had to remove the encoder caps. The SinCos encoders have _5_ components - on a 3 inch dia PCB
03:41 PM bpuk: is it just me, or is that _way_ too simple for the price of the darn things
03:49 PM bpuk: (looks like 3 phototransistors/photodiodes, 1 resistor, and what I think is a LED in the strangest package I've seen so far)
03:57 PM pcw_mesa: Yeah old HeidenHain 11 ua sine/cosine scales are just a light and a couple solar cells
04:01 PM cradek: seems the hard part is not the bulbs...
04:02 PM bpuk: I'm thinking alignment is the tricky part
04:05 PM pcw_mesa: I think most older ones use a quadrature offset mask , newer ones use differential photodiode arrays at 2x the encoder wheel/linear scale pitch
04:07 PM bpuk: that would explain the strange package - the top surface could well be a mask
04:13 PM bpuk: might be intereresting to power it up while the casing is off
04:21 PM bpuk: ugh - cabling on this machine using a 5i20 is likely to be awkward. Do I go with a long ribbon cable, or get an 7i80HD and shove that in the control cab... decisions decisions
07:15 PM skunkworks: 33us
07:19 PM andypugh: 33µs
07:19 PM andypugh: ?
07:19 PM andypugh: (ALT-m for a µ here :-)
07:24 PM cradek: [compose] m u
07:39 PM skunkworks: he
07:39 PM skunkworks: he
07:39 PM skunkworks: he
07:40 PM skunkworks: rt_preempt 4.9.mumble
08:18 PM andypugh: Anyone know a good tutorial for the Linux file system? Got someone on the forum baffled by ../
08:27 PM skunkworks: hmm - don't know what it means either... Should I?
08:28 PM skunkworks: figured it was something like - move relative to this directory..
09:54 PM seb_kuzminsky: .. means "the directory that my current directory is in"
