01:24 PM rue_mohr: hmm last technical day of vaccation
02:34 PM aandrew: wow, it is not often that a home repair goes smoothly but swapping out the shower mixing valve/pressure regulator was literally a ten minute job including cleanup
02:35 PM aandrew: the hardest part was figuring out how to get the damn trim off the mechanical bits and then trying to find someone who carried the repair parts. in the end it was $50 off amazon and arrived overnight compared to $70+ and in a couple weeks
02:36 PM aandrew: pull off the mixing valve, pull out the pressure regulator cartridge, use emery cloth to remove the crusty shit from the brass "socket" in the wall, grease the new o-rings, install pressure cartridge, install mixing valve, pressure test, replace trim, doe.
02:36 PM aandrew: done
02:40 PM rue_mohr: nice
02:45 PM aandrew: yeah I was very pleasantly surprised
02:46 PM aandrew: and I didn't even lose a screw down the inside of the wall or down the drain :-)
02:46 PM rue_mohr: :]
02:47 PM aandrew: it really sucks having 90% of my inventory in california and the rest up here, no matter what I want it isn't where I need it
02:53 PM rue_mohr: ok I have to go save mom. Her boyfriend wants me to print her new dentures...
03:05 PM aandrew: oh dear
03:07 PM aandrew: I also discovered my well pump does not in fact have an e-stop input which sucks because now I have to interrupt the 240VAC to positively kill it
03:10 PM aandrew: also apropos of nothing, I've found a nice solution to "need more than 2-3 connections on a connector that doesn't take up a lot of space or cost a lot" -- TRRS jacks/plugs
03:11 PM aandrew: mono = 2 pins, stereo = 3 pins, stereo+mic = 4 pins. round which means easy to mount and small. As long as the thing you're connecting can handle a momentary short on insert/remove that is
03:29 PM aandrew: that seems like a screwy mapping: https://ibb.co/d4y4rnVd and https://ibb.co/p60QCwcP
03:29 PM aandrew: amazon https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09Q5LNR7K and https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09Y13GXDR
03:31 PM aandrew: I was kind of expecting green to be the tip, red to be the sleeve (N in the jack) and then white/black to be the two rings
10:09 PM rifraf: just cast our first brass, pretty happy, will improve next melt soon
10:51 PM rue_mohr: setting up for a surprise garage sale tommorow
10:55 PM rifraf: cool, i would love to be there, can just imagine what you may be selling, show me

10:56 PM rue_mohr: its not the stuff WE would go to a garage sale for
