12:29 AM rue_shop2: Tom_L, 24V to 3.3V @1A in linear mode is a lot of heat
12:45 AM rifraf: hey rue, watcha been upto?
01:08 AM rue_mohr: Everyone died
01:08 AM rue_mohr: E=mc^2
01:08 AM rue_mohr: E = power (watts)
01:08 AM rue_mohr: m = resistance (ohms)
01:09 AM rue_mohr: c = current (amps)
11:58 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbWcgepRmY4
11:59 AM Tom_L: you like oddities
12:53 PM rue_mohr: oh I thought usagi was japan
12:58 PM rue_mohr: wow that video locked up the browser, but its playing, so whatever
04:11 PM Tom_L: i'm not a collector of that stuff but did find that kinda interesting
06:28 PM aandrew: well, we went out to twentynine palms which is in the Mojave desert yesterday
06:29 PM aandrew: wandered around Joshua Tree which I really did not like, but was kind of expecting since it's a desert after all
06:29 PM aandrew: but then saw a desert sunset which wasn't all that different than any other (ocean or plains sunsets are still my favourite)
06:29 PM aandrew: and then hung around until like 9pm or so because it was in a fairly low light pollution area becuase we wanted to see the milky way
06:30 PM aandrew: unfortuantely we didn't, although we saw a lot of stars (kind of similar to how I would see them when I lived on the farm outside of listowel)
06:31 PM aandrew: then we went and drove about 20mi east to try to get even darker, but it was coming up on 10:30 and the signs that said "no services for 100mi" combined with the fact that every single damn sideroad was very soft sand made me stop a little early
06:34 PM aandrew: I knew the desert got cold at night (went from 80 -> 50 in Joshua Tree) but on the highway it was still nice and warm, mid-70s
06:34 PM aandrew: I think when we're back in ontario I'm going to go up to either Tobermory or Algonquin, both are pretty dark
06:34 PM aandrew: heart of algonquin is "black" (no light pollution) but that's quite a drive
06:49 PM rue_mohr: huh
10:50 PM rue_mohr: so
10:50 PM rue_mohr: I have dual motor tractor drive on this mini loader
10:50 PM rue_mohr: but
10:51 PM rue_mohr: I think that wheelchairs use a speed balancer on the motors to keep them driving straight
10:51 PM rue_mohr: and I dont have that on this
10:51 PM rue_mohr: they have no sensors
10:51 PM rue_mohr: I suppose I should build the drivers first
10:51 PM rue_mohr: but arg
10:52 PM rue_mohr: I'm going to use relays for forward/reverse
10:52 PM rue_mohr: the FETs will just be pwm
10:52 PM rue_mohr: nobody else here rue, want to brainstorm?
10:52 PM rue_mohr: I just want to get it going
10:52 PM rue_mohr: you might feel better if you get the actuators going
10:53 PM rue_mohr: yea we need a box
