01:21 AM rifraf: anyone got resin printer?
02:22 AM rue_shop2: nope
02:22 AM rue_shop2: I have 2 buddies with them, but they dont print much and its hard to spin them up if your not doing atleast a few prints
02:38 AM rue_shop2: rif!
02:38 AM rue_shop2: you want to make money?
02:38 AM rue_shop2: look at the price of metal knobs (for like volume and stuff)
02:38 AM rue_shop2: !!
02:38 AM rue_shop2: I forgot about this when I was going thru stuff a long time ago
02:38 AM rue_shop2: great app for a cnc lathe w/autofeed
02:39 AM rifraf: really, ok cool
02:40 AM rifraf: i saw the price of M8 brass thumbscrews, i need to make em for me too
02:40 AM rifraf: rue did you make a roll former
02:40 AM rifraf: i need on now
02:40 AM rifraf: one*
02:41 AM rifraf: anyways i bit the bullet ongot a resin printer, i have hated the FDM quality for long time and want to make a few bits
02:42 AM rifraf: this looked too good, did do some research https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9lNXCDRu2s
02:43 AM rifraf: i think clear resin will go good with brass, could not see and gold/brass resin options yet
02:46 AM rifraf: need to make flat bar into curved bar, in 2 dimensions
02:50 AM rue_mohr: no roll formers
02:53 AM rue_mohr: modifying some equipment to make a power supply
02:53 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330906.jpg
02:53 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330907.jpg
02:53 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330908.jpg
02:53 AM rue_mohr: holds a wiper brush
02:53 AM rue_mohr: not done yet
02:54 AM rifraf: nice one
02:58 AM rifraf: think i can turn 16x3mm grass flatbar into thins shape easy? https://desire3d.com/images/public/curve.jpg
02:59 AM rue_shop2: yea just make a bender
02:59 AM rifraf: first roll whole length to curve across the 16mm with a few dies, then do the 180° will rollers in vice
02:59 AM rue_shop2: not sure on the cup
03:00 AM rifraf: uep, thats the harder part
03:00 AM rifraf: will make some rollers and try i guess
03:02 AM rifraf: something like https://desire3d.com/images/public/curve2.jpg
03:49 AM rue_mohr: hmm
03:49 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330912.jpg
03:50 AM rue_mohr: there are the latches I was makin last week after going thru the parts finisher
03:50 AM rue_mohr: takes off the sharp corners just enough
03:50 AM rue_mohr: Its like almost 2am
03:50 AM rue_mohr: I need to go to bed
03:57 AM rifraf: looks like quite a bit of work
03:57 AM rifraf: \good job
03:58 AM rifraf: you have a tumbler of some sort?
03:58 AM rue_mohr: oh sorry
03:58 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1330894.jpg
03:58 AM rue_mohr: parts finisher
04:37 AM rifraf: cool
04:37 AM rifraf: installed the big belleville washers on me project, pretty bloody strong
04:38 AM rifraf: to squash them manually have to add another 500mm extension onto each of the arms that go into the slipring
04:40 AM rifraf: at 160kg/mm to move the 3mm i could would take nearly 500kg of force, or approx. 5kN, and nothing broke or moved, so happy about that
04:41 AM Tom_L: that's about what roll forms look like
04:41 AM Tom_L: only several in progression
04:42 AM rifraf: most roll formers use many intermediate steps though\
04:42 AM rifraf: yeah
04:46 AM Tom_L: rue_mohr, what's the disk for
04:47 AM Tom_L: nice batch of latches
04:49 AM Tom_L: rifraf, you think the washers will work ok then?
04:51 AM rifraf: too strong for this application i think
04:52 AM rifraf: but will have to see how the cylinders cope with trying to push them together, should be here this week
12:40 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, I'm refitting a variac, to make a big mean power supply.
12:48 PM Tom_L: :)
01:30 PM rue_mohr: ok
01:31 PM rue_mohr: uh
01:31 PM rue_mohr: pay bills, cancel lost cat listings, get milk visit ma
01:31 PM rue_mohr: I wish my free time weren't scheduled
04:04 PM rifraf: off to go try this working thing again, have a good eveming
05:18 PM Tom_L: have a ball
05:19 PM rue_mohr: just like that? he's DJing a wedding or something again...
05:20 PM Tom_L: oh?
05:21 PM rue_mohr: I suspect
05:21 PM rue_mohr: I need to grind more pepper...
05:21 PM rue_mohr: I got the bearing all assembled up, I need to adjust the shaft and attach the pulley
05:22 PM rue_mohr: I'm tired tho.
05:22 PM rue_mohr: back to work for me tomorrow, feels like its been a month
05:22 PM rue_mohr: I'm just on for a week, then another week off
05:22 PM Tom_L: vacation?
05:22 PM rue_mohr: I'm trying to burn off banked hours
05:22 PM Tom_L: oh
05:22 PM rue_mohr: or they get paid out
05:23 PM rue_mohr: their paying out in mar, so I crammed in a bunch
05:23 PM Tom_L: good problem to have i suppose
05:23 PM rue_mohr: yar!
05:23 PM rue_mohr: vaccation is later
08:12 PM aandrew: why in the hell did an offhand comment I made while flying back to California get so much "reach"?
08:12 PM aandrew: https://x.com/akohlsmith/status/1893762513382105336
08:22 PM rue_mohr: hmm
08:23 PM rue_mohr: I was searching the stuff for breakdown down co2 for rebreathers, I remember getting uv lights and titanium doxide
08:23 PM rue_mohr: that was during covid
08:23 PM rue_mohr: I got a bunch of stuff for making a uv filtered air system
08:24 PM rue_mohr: maybe the titanium oxide was to neutralize the ions
08:24 PM rue_mohr: I should finish that mask before the next major thing comes along
08:28 PM rue_mohr: I remember questions regarding exposure time to the air, I was going to use a centerfugal like spiral chamber with the light down the middle
08:29 PM rue_mohr: there are gas discharge lamps that actually work at 12V
08:49 PM aandrew: I dont' think so... 12V is not a lot of breakdown voltage
08:56 PM rue_mohr: I didn't believe it either, I think they actually strike over at like 14
08:56 PM rue_mohr: their about 1cm dia and 10cm long
09:14 PM aandrew: it's trivial to make a low current resonant oscillator and get hundreds if not thousands of volts from 12v though... why would you want such a low voltage GDT?
