04:20 AM Tom_L: can't open the stl right, says there is a problem with it
06:58 AM rue_mohr: yea, you need something that can open stls with minor errors
06:58 AM rue_mohr: maybe I can get one of the programs to fix it
02:38 PM Tom_L: i found something to open it but still get an error
02:38 PM Tom_L: the stl gives me no sense of dimensions
02:38 PM Tom_L: so it's hard to say how to start on it
02:40 PM Tom_L: i'd probably machine the top first. the 2 screw bosses on the side will protrude to the bottom if machined. not like a print
02:40 PM Tom_L: then i'd make some sort of standoff fixture to flip it over and do the bottom
02:40 PM Tom_L: you will need some ballnose cutters for the slope
02:40 PM Tom_L: inside and out
02:41 PM Tom_L: after flipping it, rough the cavity out then finish with a ballnose
02:41 PM Tom_L: 3rd op: mount it to a 90deg plate and do the end hole and finish work
02:42 PM Tom_L: looks like a manifold for something
02:45 PM Tom_L: it is likely beyond your cnc's Z capabilities
05:24 PM aandrew: I packed my 3018 when I returned to CA on saturday
05:24 PM aandrew: I figure I should at least try to get it set up and working
05:25 PM aandrew: still gotta get some drywall and a shop vac, can't have it running out in the open
09:35 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, I can make it multple pieces too
