#flex-dev Calendar

05:06 AM Tom_L: morning
06:44 AM JT-Mobile: morning
09:51 AM JT-Mobile: mesact update
09:58 AM Tom_L: ok
10:33 AM Tom_L: PR #414 flex deb, PR #160 mesact deb
11:33 AM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Finally deployed my config to the real machine. I regret touching it with Qt6 designer because for some reason it won't run on the real machine
11:34 AM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> but a little brute force and it does work
12:29 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Boring video of the machine homing (though I really like seeing the homing indicators light up in flexgui for each axis individually in sequence) Forgive the servo humming, I still need to tune the servo drives again.
12:29 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> https://www.allaboutjake.com/video/homing.mp4
12:51 PM Tom_L: it moves
12:52 PM Tom_L: i do XY at the same time
12:59 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Yeah. I have to do that too I think
01:07 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Wish I knew what qt6 works on my development sim in the VM and not on the real machine. Gonna have to try rolling back to qt5 designer
01:10 PM Tom_L: i use qt5 designer but pyqt6
01:19 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Is there some way to tell flex to use pyqt6? I don’t recall doing anything special in the simulator/VM but on my real hardware it seems like Flex is using. Qt5
01:21 PM Tom_L: jt uses pyqt6
01:21 PM Tom_L: but we use designer 5
01:23 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Yeah. I mean I just have to resolve a few things to go back to qt5 designer. Not sure why flex loads the v6 UI stuff fine in one place but not the other.
01:23 PM Tom_L: dunno but we've always used qt5 designer and pyqt6
01:24 PM Tom_L: i've forgotten about any designer 6 issues since we started
01:25 PM Tom_L: there could have been some...
01:31 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Yeah it was an oversight on my part. I’ll probably go back to 5 it’s the easiest
01:32 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> And I’m probably going to follow you to a Pi5 because my intel i7 gives some latency errors unfortunately
02:46 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> “apt install tigervnc-scraping-server” so I can remote in to the garage and the actual mill from my desk inside.
03:01 PM Tom_L: jake, i'd recomend this case if you plan to use nvme: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DL2DFZQ7
03:02 PM Tom_L: and i'd recomend nvme if you want longer read/write cycles than a SD
03:02 PM Tom_L: nice metal case
03:04 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~webpage/cnc/Rpi5/pics/nvme_case/
03:34 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> yeah, I was going to follow your lead on both. 🙂
03:47 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Going back to qt5 was pretty easy. Mainly text alignment and frame borders broke in the transition
03:47 PM lcnc-relay: <AllAboutJake@> Easy to put back
05:13 PM JT-Mobile: thanks Tom_L
05:14 PM Tom_L: JT-Mobile, thanks for the ribbon
05:14 PM JT-Mobile: you're welcome
05:15 PM Tom_L: getting set up to swap boards around once i get the pi case monday
05:15 PM JT-Mobile: I was looking in the box and wondering what I could put in as lagniappe
05:15 PM JT-Mobile: made it to The Woodlands
05:16 PM Tom_L: suburb?
05:17 PM JT-Mobile: yup
05:17 PM Tom_L: run into any fog yet?
05:17 PM Tom_L: we'll be down there the end of Jan
05:17 PM JT-Mobile: fog yesterday morning
10:46 PM Tom_L: got flexgui working on debian 13 (trixie)
