10:05 AM JT-Shop: I think I broke loading resource.py
10:06 AM Tom_L: how?
10:08 AM * rdtsc-w wonders what the deal is with all of the disconnects and reconnects.
10:08 AM JT-Shop: when I know that I'll fix it
10:09 AM Tom_L: is that part of my issue?
10:14 AM Tom_L: oh, resource is the image stuff
10:30 AM JT-Shop: mrs insulin is out of stock everywhere...
10:32 AM Tom_L: not good
10:34 AM JT-Shop: https://www.ashp.org/drug-shortages/current-shortages/drug-shortage-detail.aspx?id=1133&loginreturnUrl=SSOCheckOnly
10:38 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> good morning
10:59 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> well, forecast upper 90's today.............. gotta ride now............ bbl
11:50 AM JT-Chicken: fixed the resources
12:01 PM JT-Cave: and fixed the ini keys in the examples to match the current ini settings
12:39 PM Tom_L: you changed my examples as well?
12:41 PM Tom_L: i always wondered about the debug levels... where did you find those?
01:00 PM JT-MShop: in the code
01:01 PM JT-Shop: I "think" I fixed all the examples
03:25 PM Tom_L: i added the changes to my working test files but left the old ones in place since i was testing multiple versions
03:26 PM JT-Shop: the ini stuff?
03:27 PM Tom_L: yeah
03:27 PM Tom_L: i had it in both places
03:27 PM Tom_L: just on my local files
03:28 PM Tom_L: PR #347
03:30 PM Tom_L: you put resources there too now ehh?
03:32 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure what to do with the probe stuff
03:37 PM JT-Shop: I put everything that's only for flex in the [FLEXGUI] section
03:37 PM Tom_L: so the only thing not there is DISPLAY and GUI
03:38 PM JT-Shop: DISPLAY is used by emc not flex
03:38 PM Tom_L: right
03:38 PM JT-Shop: GUI could be in FLEXGUI
03:38 PM JT-Shop: but I think it makes sense to have it next to DISPLAY perhaps
03:38 PM Tom_L: same here
03:40 PM Tom_L: gets fun to keep track here since i have a sim, and touch-probe3 on amd, rpi4 & rpi5
03:41 PM Tom_L: 2 rpi5, one ethernet and the other spi
03:49 PM JT-Shop: I started adding your probe routines to a copy of bp but when the images didn't show up I had to stop and finger that out
04:00 PM Tom_L: must have been when you realized resource was borked
04:00 PM JT-Shop: yup
04:00 PM Tom_L: since i got the probe i've been using it more to find xy
04:00 PM Tom_L: never used to
04:00 PM Tom_L: always used a wiggler
04:01 PM JT-Shop: I use edge finder just to find Y0 and use a dowel to set x0
04:01 PM Tom_L: the probe is simpler
04:01 PM Tom_L: once it's set up
04:02 PM JT-Shop: once y0 is set I never have to set it again so using the dowel to set x0 is faster than plugging in a probe
04:03 PM Tom_L: i change setups more probably
04:03 PM Tom_L: from vise to fixture plate etc
04:03 PM JT-Shop: yup if you don't use the same vise all the time a probe would be faster
04:03 PM Tom_L: or soft jaws
04:04 PM JT-Shop: yup, I've only used soft jaws once for an odd job
04:04 PM * rdtsc-w is wondering if the probe can be mounted to Z and offsets to cutter center used instead of toolswaps
04:05 PM Tom_L: rd i don't quite follow the question
04:06 PM rdtsc-w: say tool center is at 0,0 - mount probe to the Z axis at -3,-2... remove tool, use probe, then offset +3,+2 to be at tool center
04:07 PM Tom_L: i suppose you can work any math on the numbers you like
04:07 PM rdtsc-w: just would be nice to have the probe semi-permanently mounted, without having to swap to it frequently
04:07 PM rdtsc-w: in the collet
04:07 PM Tom_L: not sure why you wouldn't use a hole probe or dowel probe routine
04:08 PM Tom_L: ahh, no tool changer
04:08 PM rdtsc-w: all manual :)
04:09 PM JT-Shop: I keep the probe mounted in a QC holder
04:09 PM Tom_L: yeah i have a holder for mine
04:10 PM Tom_L: if you kept it mounted, it might get full of chips
04:10 PM Tom_L: or vibrate to pieces
04:11 PM rdtsc-w: true, just thinking ahead
04:11 PM JT-Shop: the only time I need a probe is to find the center of a hole
04:12 PM Tom_L: i did try the workpiece angle offset and it actually works better than i expected
04:12 PM JT-Shop: cool
04:13 PM JT-Shop: got one outer race pressed out now to cut a bit of steel to press the other one out
04:13 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8hpXoHmHzk
04:13 PM Tom_L: that
04:14 PM JT-Shop: you use that fixture plate a lot?
04:15 PM Tom_L: i have 4-5 parts set up on it so i can probe the corner and they are all set to go
04:15 PM Tom_L: i offset them in the cad cam to fit the plate
04:15 PM Tom_L: i use it quite a bit yes
04:16 PM Tom_L: alot of shops use those with toe clamps
04:16 PM Tom_L: they have tooling packages set up to use the tapped holes or dowel holes
04:16 PM Tom_L: on a grid pattern
04:17 PM Tom_L: makes for faster setups and better coordination between op and programmer
04:19 PM Tom_L: i have the grid on a layer in the cad so i know where to put stuff
04:21 PM Tom_L: i've also programmed a dowel pin as a tool and locate stock in the vise in X with it
04:22 PM Tom_L: so it doesn't have to align with the vise edge etc
04:48 PM Tom_L: wow
04:50 PM Tom_L: they're running fiber all over town now and they just stopped and said they'd install it for free while they're putting in the trunk lines
04:50 PM Tom_L: city is funding the trunks
04:50 PM Tom_L: and it's slightly more than half what i'm paying
04:52 PM Tom_L: going from 1-2Mb to 2.5Gb
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> weeeeeee 😄
04:59 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> awesome to hear
05:00 PM Tom_L: won't make me move any faster though
05:02 PM Tom_L: up/dn isn't throttled either
05:02 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> most fiber isn't throttled, yay non-shared pipe 😄
05:02 PM lcnc-relay: <ccatlett1984@> not over-subscribed
05:03 PM Tom_L: AT&T is courting me too but they cost more
05:03 PM Tom_L: https://ideatek.com/
05:23 PM JT-Shop: we have obumble fiber running up and down a lot of highways but not connected to anything so just another huge waste of my tax money
