04:14 PM JT-Shop: cool, still not found my 7c81
04:15 PM Tom_L: ordered some edger parts from amazon since i couldn't find them elsewhere and it shipped from china. just arrived were a small packet of disposable ear plugs
04:16 PM Tom_L: so i'll have to find the whole assembly and buy that i suppose
04:18 PM JT-Shop: lol
04:18 PM Tom_L: although amazon did a refund without me asking a few days ago so they knew it was fubbed up
04:18 PM JT-Shop: is that the shipment you got refunded on
04:18 PM Tom_L: ^^
04:19 PM Tom_L: i'm pretty sure
04:19 PM JT-Shop: fixing to pull the trigger on a new refreigerator
04:19 PM Tom_L: good luck
04:20 PM Tom_L: i've had good luck with this last one except the ice maker gave out
04:20 PM Tom_L: those you can get but i haven't bothered
04:22 PM JT-Shop: $50 question is do I want them to haul off the old LG or not
04:28 PM Tom_L: not if you think you can fix it
04:29 PM JT-Shop: I have so much to "fix" now I don't need anything else on the list
04:31 PM JT-Shop: and I'm trying to wrap my brain around how to setup the shop with the 4 post lift in it
04:31 PM Tom_L: same floorspace different stuff
04:32 PM JT-Shop: and how to setup in the machine shop now that the grinder is gone... I've already moved the 50 ton press in here
04:32 PM JT-Shop: the wood working stuff was more or less in a circle before
04:33 PM JT-Shop: the 30x50 was so big when it was empty LOL
04:49 PM Tom_L: my bud just called about a pc problem to find out his wife died couple months back
04:49 PM Tom_L: the machinist friend
04:59 PM JT-Shop: the one that used to host emc get together
05:00 PM Tom_L: no
05:00 PM Tom_L: that was stuart wasn't it?
05:00 PM JT-Shop: yeah I think that was his name
05:00 PM Tom_L: i forget his last name
05:01 PM Tom_L: no this is the guy i helped set his shop up and did some work with years back
05:01 PM Tom_L: races cars
05:01 PM JT-Shop: ah ok
05:01 PM Tom_L: used to now he builds em
05:01 PM Tom_L: he's still running a couple cncs in his small shop
05:01 PM Tom_L: he's 80 or 81 now
05:02 PM JT-Shop: cracked me up when the guy from union city tn said when he turned 60 he lost interest on the 67 nova project
05:02 PM JT-Shop: I thought to myself I can't even remember 60
05:02 PM Tom_L: mesa supposedly will show tomorrow
05:03 PM JT-Shop: cool
05:04 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna wait to get them before i build the cable though
05:06 PM JT-Shop: working on removing the 82 exhaust from the cat back so I can work on the trailing arms and strut rods
05:06 PM Tom_L: i hate exhaust work
05:07 PM Tom_L: on the rear suspension?
05:07 PM JT-Shop: yup
05:07 PM JT-Shop: I think the bolts I'm working on now have been there for 43 years
05:08 PM JT-Shop: I'll take my time with them and use plenty of breakfree
05:09 PM Tom_L: exhaust bolts?
05:09 PM Tom_L: U connectors etc i would always replace
05:09 PM JT-Shop: bolts that hold the exhaust to the frame
05:10 PM Tom_L: with a rubber damper between or some such dampener?
05:10 PM JT-Shop: some kind of rubber sheet
05:10 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:11 PM Tom_L: at least you can put it at a somewhat comfortable height
05:12 PM JT-Shop: yup that is huge... it was a pia to work off the floor
05:12 PM Tom_L: now you need some portable led flood lights under it
05:13 PM JT-Shop: LOL I was just thinking about that... I have a magnet type led light
05:13 PM Tom_L: i have an old flourescent snapon reel i got in my 20's
05:13 PM Tom_L: not even sure it works now
05:13 PM Tom_L: i used the crap outta that
05:14 PM JT-Shop: I have a fluorescent trouble light and not sure if it even works
05:14 PM JT-Shop: being able to stand up under the car is huge
05:15 PM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/Steelman-500-Lumen-Retractable-Resistant-99761/dp/B07K22J115
05:15 PM Tom_L: or such
05:15 PM Tom_L: keeps the cord out of the way
05:16 PM Tom_L: i haven't shopped for one in years
05:16 PM JT-Shop: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-800-Lumens-Rechargeable-Swivel-Work-Light-RS800HD/326253700
05:16 PM JT-Shop: that's the one I have
05:17 PM Tom_L: nice thing about the corded is the hook end you can put where you want it and it will pretty much stay there
05:17 PM JT-Shop: I like the magnet
05:18 PM Tom_L: probably works the same
05:18 PM JT-Shop: magnet works better than a hook you can aim it in any direction
05:18 PM Tom_L: yeah
05:18 PM Tom_L: they didn't have those back when..
05:19 PM Tom_L: i need all the light i can get anymore
05:19 PM JT-Shop: yup me too
05:23 PM JT-Shop: I've learned with rusty fasteners if you can get them to move at all just go back in then back out a little at time with plenty of break free
05:43 PM JT-Shop: breakfree, neverseze and patience got those two rusty bolts out... two more to go but not today
05:49 PM JT-Shop: these two bolts were through the welded on nuts so I could put neverseze on the threads
05:57 PM Tom_L: had to go hang a shelf
06:04 PM JT-Shop: better than hanging a serf
06:09 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
06:09 PM * Tom_L does too
06:24 PM rdtsc: my experience with modern fridges is, don't get one with an icemaker. got a new samsung and it went out within the first year - replaced it, went out again. instead, just get a desktop ice maker. those are reliable
06:25 PM rdtsc: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ice+maker
06:26 PM rdtsc: https://www.amazon.com/Frigidaire-Countertop-Compact-Machine-Stainless/dp/B07JBJWP2W?th=1 personally seen this one churning out ice quickly and effectively
06:27 PM xxcoder: id disrecommand it unless its self-cleaning type
06:30 PM rdtsc: just resorted to cube trays
06:30 PM xxcoder: yeah my ice demend is low enough that I just use ice cubes
06:30 PM xxcoder: theres nice rubber bottom enclosed ones
06:30 PM rdtsc: but even those get to smellin' funky after awhile... wash in hot water and leave air-dry overnight
06:31 PM xxcoder: you just fill to line and shake it a bit
06:32 PM rdtsc: the missus uses ice every morning for protien shake - we're always cleaning and refilling three sets of them
06:39 PM Tom_L: we don't use that much ice anyway
06:40 PM Tom_L: and there's already enough single use appliances cluttering the countertop
