05:28 AM JT-Cave: morning
07:18 AM Tom_L: 66F 86F
10:14 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> good morning....
10:14 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> upper 50's right now. forecast low 80's for the afternoon
10:15 AM lcnc-relay: <roguish> clear and sunny
01:12 PM JT-Shop: nap time here
01:16 PM JT-Cave: I agree
01:35 PM rdtsc-w is now known as JT-BatCave
01:35 PM JT-BatCave: Ditto
01:35 PM JT-BatCave is now known as rdtsc-w
02:54 PM JT-Cave: send up the Bat Signal
02:55 PM xxcoder: but its clear day
02:55 PM xxcoder: no clouds to project o0n
02:55 PM xxcoder: -0
03:19 PM JT-Shop: too much complaining on the other channel
03:21 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, when you pick a daughter card from the list does that set things up to output the proper pin lines in hal?
03:21 PM Tom_L: per connector
03:23 PM Tom_L: i haven't built a config in a long time using mesact...
03:25 PM Tom_L: i'm wondering how that list is formulated... does it come from available bit files for the primary card?
03:25 PM Tom_L: or cards that fit that size connector
03:25 PM Tom_L: etc
03:27 PM JT-Shop: it should...
03:33 PM Tom_L: trying to understand how you arrive at daughter boards that fit motherboards
03:34 PM Tom_L: but i gotta run right now
03:40 PM JT-Shop: ok
04:45 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/mesact/blob/master/mesact/src/libmesact/boards.py#L6
05:20 PM Tom_L: i thought about making a list for the 7c81 based on the available bit files
05:20 PM Tom_L: but i didn't know if you created pins based on the selections
05:21 PM JT-Shop: the main daughter boards are 7i76 and 7i77
05:21 PM JT-Shop: so the pins do depend on the daughter board
05:21 PM Tom_L: there was a 3rd party one he supported and the G540 driver board
05:22 PM JT-Shop: yup that's just a parallel port type of board iirc
05:22 PM Tom_L: someone using a pi would be more likely to use those
05:22 PM JT-Shop: or a C10 breakout board
05:23 PM JT-Shop: what I do is plug in the board, flash it and see what the pins are
05:23 PM Tom_L: https://www.automationtechnologiesinc.com/products-page/motion-controller-and-mpgs/c11g-multifunction-cnc-board
05:23 PM Tom_L: he has a bit file for that
05:23 PM JT-Shop: boards like 7i92 know if they are connected to a 7i76 or 7i77
05:23 PM Tom_L: and one for the G540
05:24 PM JT-Shop: I have no clue about the 7c81 and I have one somewhere...
05:24 PM Tom_L: i was looking at the firmware available the other day
05:24 PM JT-Shop: for a 7i92 with a 7i76 or 7i77 if the daughter board is not powered the pins don't show up
05:24 PM Tom_L: and i've got no idea how far they got with those boards in mesact
05:25 PM Tom_L: i was reading the pin files for the board functions
05:26 PM Tom_L: and some didn't have one so i looked at the vhd file
05:27 PM Tom_L: i may just be getting in the way here... no idea
05:27 PM JT-Shop: you have more of an idea than I do lol
05:29 PM JT-Shop: did Peter send you some boards?
05:29 PM Tom_dev: what i see is: bob, 7i76, 7i77, 7i85, .7i88 7i89, c11g, G540
05:29 PM Tom_dev: he is
05:30 PM Tom_dev: and a coupld oddballs
05:30 PM Tom_dev: mx3660x
05:30 PM Tom_dev: no clue
05:31 PM Tom_L: should be here thurs
05:31 PM Tom_L: plugs coming tomorrow i think
05:32 PM JT-Shop: I've seen the mx3660 on line
05:32 PM Tom_L: no idea what it is
05:33 PM JT-Shop: it's just a stepper board like the g540
05:33 PM Tom_L: leadshine stepper drive
05:33 PM Tom_L: https://www.leadshine.com/legacys/MX3660.html
05:37 PM JT-Shop: I need to find a decent sd card reader for my pc
05:38 PM Tom_L: the micro sd?
05:38 PM JT-Shop: no, just sd
05:38 PM Tom_L: i got some cheap ones that work real good
05:38 PM Tom_L: oh
05:38 PM Tom_L: i have a very old one for those
05:38 PM Tom_L: but it works
05:38 PM JT-Shop: I have a couple that fit in the 3.5 bay but the sd slot is hard to use
05:39 PM JT-Shop: and does not work
05:39 PM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/Memory-Reader-BENFEI-USB-C-Adapter/dp/B08P517NW5
05:39 PM Tom_L: mine is similar to that
05:39 PM Tom_L: all in one
05:40 PM JT-Shop: yeah I might need to try one like that... but I'm hoping to have one mounted in the pc face
05:40 PM Tom_L: NOTE: SDXC cards (capacity at 64GB or larger) use a special file format "exFAT", which is not supported in Windows XP, Windows Vista before SP1, and Mac OS X before 10.6.6).
05:41 PM Tom_L: none of mine are larger than that
05:41 PM JT-Shop: I have a huge one in the C8 for the PDR
05:41 PM Tom_L: i don't use it enough to worry. just leave it on top of the pc case
05:42 PM Tom_L: mine takes those huge cards that first came out too whatever those were called
05:42 PM JT-Shop: I keep a game camera on the food bowls so I get a lot of photos every day
05:42 PM Tom_L: CF
05:43 PM JT-Shop: huge as it like 512GB
05:43 PM JT-Shop: as in
05:43 PM Tom_L: huge but small
05:43 PM JT-Shop: standard sd card but huge memory
05:43 PM Tom_L: large size small capacity
05:43 PM Tom_L: compact flash was one of the first iirc
05:43 PM Tom_L: then they just kept getting smaller size with more capacity
05:45 PM Tom_L: the ones over 64gb may be a newer special format
05:45 PM Tom_L: exFAT
05:45 PM Tom_L: extended FAT
05:47 PM Tom_L: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/comments/1afr118/windows_will_not_read_sd_cards_in_exfat_format/
05:48 PM * JT-Shop calls it a day
05:49 PM Tom_L: Yes, Debian 12 can read SD cards formatted with the exFAT file system, but it requires installing the exfat-fuse and exfat-utils packages first.
