05:16 AM Tom_L: morning
06:22 AM JT-Mobile: morning
07:50 AM Tom_L: did a bit of testing
07:51 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:443/~tom-itx/irc/logs/%23flex-dev/2025-08-02.html
07:51 AM Tom_L: 8:29PM
08:07 AM JT-Mobile: ok
08:09 AM JT-Mobile: fixed
08:12 AM JT-Mobile: and fixed the 7c81 too
08:28 AM Tom_L: 7i80HD-xx has no ip entry now
08:28 AM Tom_L: after selecting 7i81 then 7i80HDx
08:29 AM JT-Mobile: should it have one?
08:29 AM * JT-Mobile goes to breakfast
08:29 AM Tom_L: or even if you select it first. the 7i80 is an ethernet card
08:30 AM Tom_L: same as the 7i90 epp, spi, serial but it is ethernet
08:32 AM Tom_L: afik the rest look ok, just those 5 7i80 ethernet cards
08:33 AM Tom_L: i don't think you did much with those since they're 40pin daughter cards
08:33 AM Tom_L: same with the 7i90
08:36 AM Tom_L: no daughter cards show up for them anyway
08:41 AM Tom_L: the 7c81 can have 3 daughter cards
08:42 AM Tom_L: and you start the first card on P7
08:42 AM Tom_L: i dunno, that may be correct but P1 P2 P7 are all open for that
08:43 AM Tom_L: that depends how he has the firmware layed out and i haven't checked that
09:01 AM Tom_L: yeah the firmware i looked at all have the connectors in order of P1, P2 P7
09:02 AM Tom_L: and 2 sserial P5 & P6 connectors
09:04 AM Tom_L: not all firmware have sserial in them though
09:07 AM Tom_L: those you probably don't need to program for as that's just firmware
09:11 AM Tom_L: one bitfile is for 2x G540 on P1 P2
09:12 AM Tom_L: the gecko multi driver board
09:14 AM Tom_L: there's a bitfile for this: https://www.automationtechnologiesinc.com/products-page/motion-controller-and-mpgs/c11g-multifunction-cnc-board
09:16 AM Tom_L: other than the generic BOB the rest look to be mesa
09:17 AM Tom_L: and the BOB is 2x on P1 P2
09:25 AM JT-Mobile: fixed the 7i80'd
09:25 AM JT-Mobile: s
09:26 AM Tom_L: ok
09:27 AM Tom_L: i was just looking at what all bit files the 7c81 had
09:30 AM Tom_L: address selection looks good now
09:33 AM Tom_L: the connector selection on the 8c81 should be P1 P2 though. i don't really think P7 has any bitfiles programmed for it other than GPIO
09:34 AM Tom_L: for a starter config that would be enough
01:33 PM rdtsc: mesact suggestion... in the DriveX tabs, PID tab --> Copy Values button, move this to the Info tab. Reason being, users will click that before filling out the homing and stepgen tabs.
01:35 PM rdtsc: mesact PC tab -> PC Info, only reports this on rpi5: Return Code: 0 # dmidecode 3.4 # No SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found, sorry.
01:35 PM rdtsc: (CPU info and NIC info both work though)
01:39 PM rdtsc: mesact Documents button - no default PDF reader on Rpi5; opens a firefox window asking to save the .pdf.gz file
01:40 PM rdtsc: that freezes mesact until firefox is closed
01:41 PM Tom_L: so install a pdf reader :)
01:41 PM Tom_L: i haven't tried that yet
01:41 PM Tom_L: you read docs????
01:45 PM rdtsc: mycnc@mycnc:~/Programming $ xdg-open ./flexgui/flexgui/flexgui.pdf gives the same console warnings, but opens in Firefox - guess it just can't open a gzipped version of pdf
01:48 PM rdtsc: I'd say, if possible, to do that "open PDF" function as a separate thead if possible, so that any funny-business won't freeze mesact
01:50 PM JT-MShop: got the check in the mail
01:50 PM rdtsc: all of it? no strings attached? no funny white powder in the envelope
01:50 PM rdtsc: ???
02:04 PM JT-Shop: it was from LG on the fridge
02:06 PM JT-Shop: I imagine a lot of info stuff won't work on the rpi
02:19 PM rdtsc: built a config; .ini looks quite good. The .hal are missing the rpi-specific endpoints like hm2_7c80.0.stepgen.00.enable and hm2_7c80.0.ssr.00.out-00
02:19 PM rdtsc: not 'rpi-specific' but '7c80-specific'
02:20 PM JT-Shop: I'm surprised it built a 7c80 config
02:20 PM JT-Shop: do you have the standard firmware on the 7c80?
02:35 PM Tom_L: what is the standard firmware?
02:37 PM Tom_L: the only real changes on it would be for the expansion port
02:37 PM Tom_L: far as i can tell anyway
02:53 PM JT-Shop: no clue
02:54 PM JT-Shop: got ride of my cast iron surface place today in addition to the rotary table and chuck
02:54 PM rdtsc: standard is 7c80d.bit
02:54 PM JT-Shop: nap time now
03:01 PM Tom_L: sounds like a good idea
