05:20 AM Tom_L: morning
05:50 AM JT-Mobile: morning
05:51 AM JT-Mobile: 60-80f here
07:50 AM Tom_L: 65-82F
08:07 AM JT-Mobile: making progress on my annoying dialog
08:14 AM Tom_L: oh for mesaflash?
08:15 AM JT-Mobile: no, when either auto opening or opening a configuration that is an older version than the tool
08:16 AM Tom_L: yeah i see now
08:16 AM JT-Mobile: just gotta remember to pull when I get home LOL
08:16 AM Tom_L: ready for a build or wait til you get home?
08:17 AM JT-Mobile: you can wait
08:17 AM Tom_L: looks like i may get some stuff Tuesday late
08:18 AM JT-Mobile: stuff == boards?
08:18 AM Tom_L: connectors & boards
08:19 AM JT-Mobile: cool
08:25 AM JT-Mobile: found another 7c81 coding error
08:27 AM Tom_L: that looks like a breakout board for daughter cards & sserial
08:27 AM JT-Mobile: yup
08:27 AM Tom_L: the other one has some drivers etc on it
08:28 AM JT-Mobile: so all those boards should work on the rpi4 with the older version of spi?
08:28 AM Tom_L: i would think so
08:28 AM Tom_L: all the 26 pinout boards are the same afik
08:29 AM JT-Mobile: info = ('7c81 uses SPI for communication, requires LinuxCNC v2.9.4+\n'
08:29 AM JT-Mobile: '(hm2_spix, since it is required for the Pi5)'
08:29 AM JT-Mobile: so I think that is misleading
08:29 AM Tom_L: maybe, it was fixed to work with the rpi4 & 5
08:30 AM Tom_L: but supposedly backported when 2.9.4 came out to all the 2.9.x
08:30 AM Tom_L: except the ~pre debian 12 presiously holds on to
08:31 AM Tom_L: 2.9.0~pre
08:31 AM Tom_L: that's my take on it anyway
08:32 AM JT-Mobile: 7c81 uses SPI for communications.
08:32 AM JT-Mobile: The Rpi 5 requires hm2_spix which is available in LinuxCNC version 2.9.4 or newer
08:32 AM JT-Mobile: The Rpi 4 will work with hm2_spi which is in older versions of LinuxCNC
08:32 AM * Tom_L blamse the kbd for speeling
08:32 AM JT-Mobile: how does that look?
08:32 AM Tom_L: ok
08:32 AM Tom_L: may mention somewhere they both work with hm2_spix
08:33 AM Tom_L: and not just the rpi5
08:33 AM Tom_L: gotta go deliver some kids here soon
08:33 AM Tom_L: they spent the night
08:37 AM JT-Mobile: ok
08:46 AM Tom_L: got outta that. one of the boys went
09:12 AM JT-Mobile: updated the spi boards info
09:13 AM Tom_L: ok
09:13 AM Tom_L: mesaflash is up to 3.5.14 now
09:13 AM JT-Mobile: wow
09:14 AM Tom_L: not sure what the last patch was
09:17 AM JT-Mobile: I don't even have mesaflash installed on this pc
09:18 AM Tom_L: i wonder if he started working on the serial interface or if that would even be part of mesaflash
09:18 AM Tom_L: some protocol i've never heard of
09:18 AM JT-Mobile: he did update the descriptions for some
09:23 AM Tom_L: wonder what LITEHM2 is
09:23 AM Tom_L: it's in the board list
09:24 AM Tom_L: that and RECOVER
09:24 AM JT-Mobile: hmm
09:26 AM Tom_L: ok all up to date here
09:26 AM JT-Mobile: installing here
09:27 AM Tom_L: pi4 5 & test pc
09:28 AM JT-Mobile: got the latest mesaflash
09:33 AM * JT-Mobile heads out to explore
09:38 AM Tom_L: fixed some pin names on 7i97
09:38 AM Tom_L: in mesaflash
11:56 AM * JT-Mobile is off again after a power nap
02:48 PM JT-Mobile: trying to finger out where/how to put the spi address in mesact
04:01 PM JT-Mobile: got that fingered out
04:07 PM JT-Mobile: not used yet but selectable
04:08 PM JT-Mobile: or rather not used yet
04:10 PM JT-Mobile: hmm I thought the mrs was up from her nap but that was just a roll over
05:30 PM JT-Mobile: time to wander over to Mungo's for some Italian chow
05:44 PM Tom_L: also, 7i90 can be parport address or spi address
05:44 PM Tom_L: or serial but i don't think anybody is using the serial
08:29 PM Tom_L: JT-MShop, if you select 7c80 for the board, you get spi address. that's cool. if you change your mind and select 7i80HD-25 or such you still get the spi address in the dropdown even though the Spi address descriptor isn't there anymore
08:30 PM Tom_L: instead of an ethernet address
08:30 PM Tom_L: but
08:31 PM Tom_L: if i select say a 7i92T the IP Address descriptor and the ip dropdown are correct
08:31 PM Tom_L: so not all boards are at fault for the address switch
08:33 PM Tom_L: then if i switch back to the 7i81 etc i still get the IP address descriptor & dropdown
08:35 PM Tom_L: yeah, not all of them switch like they're supposed to. some do and some don't
08:37 PM Tom_L: switching between 7c80 & 7i92t work, but if i switch between 7c81 & 7i92T the addresses don't switch like they should
08:39 PM Tom_L: not sure if you were done with it but i went ahead and did some testing
08:41 PM Tom_L: 7c81 may be the broke one, i can't really tell
08:42 PM Tom_L: that and 7i80HD-xx ones
