08:16 AM rdtsc-w: figured out smoke alarm. AC has been on for over a week, with house closed up. Attic fan was also running nearly non-stop. Tested the water heater flue, and found that it was not convecting when the attic fans were on.

02:20 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> JT-Shop: you're right, Cal code requires a pressure relief valve drain to outside the house.....
02:20 PM lcnc-relay: <roguish> and should have a pan under the heater with a drain to somewhere, in case the tank leaks.
02:30 PM JT-Shop: even if your lucky and don't live in California you should still have a drain to the outside for the relief valve... floor pan is optional
